Chapter 154 John Has a Good Eye

They were wrapped up in each other, totally unaware of everything around them. Their eyes only saw each other, making everyone else green with envy.

Seriously, everyone could tell how much John was into Aurora.

Sandra's fists clenched in jealousy, trying to keep her anger and bitterness in check.

Emily was even worse off; she wished she was the one in John's arms, getting all the attention.

John was the golden boy, and he should've been her husband. Aurora had snatched him away, along with the title of Lewis Family matriarch, which should've been hers.

Emily's mind had twisted, convinced that everything was hers and Aurora had stolen it all.

Rex and Wade came down the stairs, seeing John back with a healed face and fine legs. They were nothing but shocked and scared.

Right then, Wade realized John had been faking it all along.

He'd been pretending just to push Wade into making a move. From the moment he showed up, Wade knew he was done for.

John set Aurora down but kept holding her hand, their fingers tightly interlocked, and shot Wade a look as cold as ice. "Wade, you don't look so hot."

Wade clung to the stair railing, his legs a bit shaky, forcing a smile. "John, you're all better? That's really something."

John's voice was deep, "It's all thanks to Dr. Collins' top-notch skills."

Gary, standing nearby, modestly added, "It's really Mr. Lewis's strong recovery ability."

They were talking in sync, but their words were aimed at the other guests, not Wade.

Wade laughed awkwardly, "The birthday banquet hasn't started yet. John, you came back just in time. Grandpa, since John's back, let's kick off the banquet. John's recovery is a big deal, and I'm genuinely happy for him."

"Really happy for me?"

The atmosphere in the banquet hall got heavy, and the temperature seemed to drop.

John walked towards Wade, his face expressionless. "Today, I went to the mountain road and ran into some people blocking my way. I almost didn't make it back."

"Really? Did you call the cops, John?" Wade's legs trembled as he backed up, gripping the railing tightly out of fear.

He had secretly hired people to take John out, but John coming back safe and sound to confront him was something Wade couldn't handle.

"John." Lloyd stepped forward. "It's good you're back safe. Today is my seventieth birthday. Whatever it is, deal with it later. Go change into clean clothes first."

With thousands of guests watching, John wasn't going to do anything to Wade right now. Besides, John never took Wade seriously.

"John, are you okay?" Sandra walked over, trying to grab John's hand, acting all affectionate.

John subtly dodged her and said to Aurora, "Aurora, wait here for me. I'll go change my clothes."

John kissed Aurora's forehead in front of everyone before heading upstairs.

As he passed Wade, Wade quickly stepped aside, and so did Rex, making way for John.

After John walked past, Wade's forehead was covered in cold sweat, and he couldn't help but curse those useless people who only managed to give John some minor injuries.

They were totally worthless.

Sandra, who got ignored, felt embarrassed, her face turning red with awkwardness.

"Sandra, you can see how Boss feels. Sometimes, you should keep your dignity and not push it." Todd said with a gentlemanly demeanor.

Sandra replied, "Todd, I don't get what you're saying. After my sister passed away, John has been there for me, supporting me through school. I've always seen him as a brother. Seeing him well makes me genuinely happy."

Todd pointed at Sandra and laughed, "You really have a way with words."

He walked closer, patted her shoulder with a smile, and said with a hint of warning, "Sandra, you're grown up now. You should know what to say and what not to say. Don't bring up your sister in front of Ms. White."

Sandra glanced at Todd, realizing that not only Lucas but even Todd had taken Aurora's side.

Just then, Sophia arrived with Summer and Loren. Seeing them return, Aurora walked over and asked, "Why are you back?"

Summer said, "I heard John was in danger."

Summer was from Nightfall, and Tyler had sent a distress signal through the Nightfall system, so Summer naturally got the message.

Aurora said, "John's fine. He got back safely and is upstairs changing clothes."

Summer breathed a sigh of relief.

Loren said, "I told you he would be fine. He's so strong, no one could beat him."

Summer shot back, "I don't know who was about to cry when he heard John was in trouble."

"John saved us, of course, I was worried about him."

Sophia and Aurora couldn't help but laugh as they watched the brothers bicker.

Aurora thought that since Jane had been taken away and there was no longer any threat, she decided not to send Summer and Loren away and let them stay.

Upstairs, in the lounge.

Todd pushed the door open and walked in.

"Boss, there are guards at every exit of the banquet hall. Rex and Wade can't leave even if they want to. You can relax."

John was slowly buttoning his shirt. He said, "Hmm, I'll deal with them later."

"Boss, why did you go to the mountain road?" Todd was genuinely curious.

John's hands paused for a moment, then he said, "I got news that Jennifer's body was at Maple Mountain."

To get to Maple Mountain, he had to pass through the mountain road.

Since Jennifer's accident, her body was never found. It was no wonder John rushed to Maple Mountain upon hearing the news.

Jennifer had an accident because of John, so he couldn't let her body remain unfound.

Even if it was a false lead, John had to check it out himself.

Todd nodded in understanding. "Boss, it's a good thing Ms. White was here today. I have to say, Ms. White really has the demeanor of a matriarch. Even without you here, she handled everything perfectly."

Todd's words were full of admiration, "Those branches of the Lewis Family didn't dare to cause trouble. Instead, they helped entertain the guests. The scene of unity, although a bit strange and awkward, was something I couldn't have imagined before."

Aurora seemed to have a natural charm that could unite everyone.

Hearing Todd praise Aurora, John’s lips curled up slightly, and he shamelessly said, "When have I ever chosen the wrong woman?"

His tone was full of pride.

Seeing John take out a ring box, Todd said, "Boss, are you planning to propose?"

John put the ring in his suit pocket, "Let's go downstairs."

The banquet began.

The first segment was the Lewis Family descendants offering their blessings to Lloyd.

Even though Aurora had just married into the Lewis Family, John still pulled her onto the stage. "You are my wife, so you are part of the Lewis Family."
