Chapter 141 An Aura of Dominance
Leo was hurting all over and wouldn't stop whining. ViperStrike finally snapped, "Shut up already."
"You nabbed me, and I can't even whine a bit?" Leo shot back. "If you can't kill me today, I'll have my dad kill you. I'm the heir to the Robinson Group in Silvercrest City."
Leo's voice got quieter and quieter.
ViperStrike waved a knife in Leo's face. "Wanna try whining again?"
Leo grumbled, feeling super wronged, and turned to Summer. "Summer, they're picking on me."
To Leo, Summer was still the dependable one. He was calm and someone you could count on when things got dicey.
"Save your energy," Summer said.
Loren couldn't take it either. "Leo, you're so loud. With Summer here, don't worry, someone will come to save us."
Leo leaned on Summer's shoulder, looking all pitiful. "I'm scared, okay? They all have knives. I'm the one getting dragged into this mess because of you two. It's so unfair. If I knew this would happen, I wouldn't have taken you for a ride. I told you, we should've gone to the cops or just gone home. We'd be chilling in the AC right now."
"Watch your drool."
Summer's shoulder was wet from Leo's drooling as he talked.
"Oh, sorry." Leo sat up straight and started worrying again. "I wonder if John will come to save us. Who said you two are John's secret kids? That's total BS. But you do kinda look like him."
This whole thing puzzled both Summer and Loren too.
As Aurora wrapped up her work, the sun had already set.
She was about to head back when she got a call from Helen. "Aurora, Loren and Summer have been taken. I can't reach John. Those people were aggressive. Loren and Summer are definitely in danger."
"What do you mean taken? What happened?" Aurora was confused. "Helen, slow down."
Aurora spoke while walking out.
"I don't know who those people are. They just showed up and took Loren and Summer. Leo was taken with them," Helen said, sounding a bit out of it.
Why was Leo with them?
Upon hearing this, Aurora hurried out.
Who would target Loren and Summer?
Could it be Emily's revenge?
But that didn't make sense. Emily hated her the most. If Emily had the muscle to gather so many people, she'd probably come after her first.
Meanwhile, John also got a call from ViperStrike. "John, I have your two sons. If you don't want them dead, do as I say."
John sneered, "Since when do I have sons? That's a good one. How wouldn't I know I had sons?"
ViperStrike laughed coldly, "Don't play dumb with me. You hid it well, Mr. Lewis. These two secret sons are quite handsome and brave. It'd be a shame if they died."
Just then, Todd rushed in. "Boss, Loren and Summer, they've been taken."
John frowned, finally piecing things together.
But now wasn't the time to figure out why Summer and Loren were mistaken for his sons. The priority was to save them.
John's gaze was intense as he sternly warned, "If you dare hurt either of them, I'll make sure your Blue Venture Group vanishes completely."
ViperStrike let out a loud laugh, "Looks like we got the right folks. Mr. Lewis, just admit it. Do as I say. Come to Emerald Club alone. If I don't see you in an hour, for every minute you're late, I'll chop off one of their fingers. After the fingers, I'll start on the toes."
John had never been threatened like this before and got seriously pissed. "You can try."
He slammed the phone down.
After the call, Todd said, "Boss, I'll go with you."
"No need. I'll go alone. ViperStrike's gunning for me. More people will just put Summer and Loren in more danger."
Todd was worried. "Then I'll have Tyler and Sam set up an ambush nearby, just in case. ViperStrike's desperate now and might do anything. Boss, be careful."
John smirked coldly, "No one can take my life. Summer and Loren are probably not even at Emerald Club. I'll go alone to stall ViperStrike. You take the crew and find Summer and Loren ASAP."
"Got it, boss."
John got in his car and headed to Emerald Club.
Just as John left, Aurora showed up, barely missing him. She only saw Todd.
"Todd, have you seen John?"
With the big deal of Summer and Loren being captured, Aurora couldn't make a decision alone. She came to talk it over with John first.
Even if they called the cops, it wouldn't necessarily keep the kids safe.
"Boss left to handle something." Todd thought Aurora didn't know about Summer and Loren's situation, so he didn't spill the beans.
Aurora anxiously said, "What do we do? Summer and Loren are in trouble."
Todd's heart skipped a beat. "How do you know?"
"What is John handling?" Aurora realized something was off. Whatever John was handling must be tied to Summer and Loren.
"Those who nabbed Summer and Loren are the boss's enemies. Boss went to save them. Aurora, don't worry. With boss over there, everything will be fine." Todd said, "Boss also said Summer and Loren are probably held somewhere else. I'm about to take the crew to find them."
Aurora was super worried about the kids' safety, but John's safety was also a big deal.
Aurora asked, "Todd, can John handle it alone? Tell me the truth, no BS."
"No problem at all." Todd had mad faith in John. "No one in this world can harm Boss. ViperStrike and his gang can't do anything to him."
With that assurance, Aurora felt a bit better.
"Alright, I'll go with you to find Summer and Loren."
Aurora stayed cool. She had to. Freaking out now would do no good.
Night fell.
Emerald Club, once ViperStrike's turf, was now abandoned and sealed off. It was covered in dust, with none of its old glory.
In the hall, two rows of men stood neatly. Each held a steel rod, looking fierce, like a big fight was about to go down.
ViperStrike sat in the main seat, but Summer, Loren, and Leo weren't there.
ViperStrike checked the time. Almost an hour had passed since the call. Did John not have the guts to show?
Just as he thought that, the door creaked open.
The person who walked in was John.
John leaned on a cane, looking like he had a limp, and walked in with a deep gaze fixed on ViperStrike. His face showed no fear. As he approached, his presence filled the room, like a king surveying his realm, exerting an invisible pressure that made ViperStrike's heart skip a beat.
