Chapter 407 John and Aurora Are Arguing About Divorce
The center of the explosion was exactly where Lion's group's boat had been burning just moments ago.
A mushroom cloud rose into the sky and quickly dissipated.
Everyone had already been dealt with, so why was there an explosion?
Gary's face changed, and he muttered, "John, I got a bad feeling about this."
This explosion was one of the island's traps.
No one would have activated the trap without John's order, but the fact was, it had been activated and exploded.
Aurora had also returned, her eyes fixed on the site of the explosion. "What's going on?"
John personally led a team to investigate.
"I'm coming too," Gary followed.
Aurora also jumped onto the speedboat. "I'm coming too."
Why were they all joining in?
John only dared to think this in his head; he wouldn't dare say it out loud.
"Hold on tight."
John started the speedboat and headed towards the explosion.
The sea was littered with debris from the boat, with many pieces already sinking to the bottom.
"Jack, Jack," Aurora shouted, her voice strained. They had dealt with Lion's people, but Jack was missing. The explosion had left her feeling particularly anxious.
Nightfall's people were searching the sea.
Suddenly, someone shouted, "Mr. Lewis, we found something—a severed arm."
The arm was on a small floating boat, the very one Lion's people had tried to escape on.
Jack had been on that boat.
When they brought the arm over, Aurora saw the tattered sleeve and fainted.
The arm was Jack's.
Back at Gary's lab, they compared the arm with Jack's previous blood samples. It was confirmed to be Jack's arm.
Aurora woke up shortly after fainting, hearing Gary's voice in a daze: "That arm is definitely Jack's. From the explosion's intensity, Jack must be dead. That arm is a lucky remnant; the rest of his body probably sank and was eaten by sharks."
Aurora's mind went blank.
She heard Gary ask, "John, did you secretly order this? Without your command, no one would dare activate the final defense system. Jack came to the island with ulterior motives, stole the map, and brought Lion's people here. He staged his own kidnapping. This man was dangerous, and his goal wasn't just revenge for his father. You acted first, which was wise."
Aurora's mind felt like it exploded.
John had targeted Jack?
John was about to speak when Aurora walked out, barefoot.
"Aurora."
John's heart ached as he quickly walked over.
"Was it you?" Aurora's eyes were red, her voice trembling. "Did you kill Jack, John? You said it was too late, but you lied. You had people lying in wait. Otherwise, how could Lion's people have been ambushed? You knew the USB drive was taken from Jack. You knew everything, so you killed Jack."
John opened his mouth, but it felt like a thorn was stuck in his throat.
Such meticulous logic.
He couldn't argue.
John's eyes narrowed slightly. "Is that how you see me?"
"Didn't Mr. Collins make it clear? No one but you could activate the defense system. You sent so many people, but only brought back Lion's men. Jack was with them. Why didn't you bring him back? Because you never intended to. You wanted him dead."
Seeing John and Aurora arguing, Gary quickly tried to mediate. "Aurora, calm down. Don't say things in anger. I was just talking nonsense. Don't take it seriously. Both of you, chill out."
John suddenly raised his voice and shouted, "Let her speak."
Aurora was stunned. "John, you yelled at me."
"So what if I did? Aurora, I think I've spoiled you too much. You think you can do whatever you want because I always give in to you." John, the head of the family, was firm. "Go to your room and reflect. If you don't want to live together anymore, just say the word, and I'll grant your wish."
"Hey, John, that's going too far." Gary quickly pulled John aside, whispering, "Don't talk to Aurora like that just to save face. Say less. You have four sons. How can you split them up?"
"Why not? Four sons, perfect. Two each. I'll pay child support in full. I don't want anything, not even the property. A clean break. I've had enough."
Every word was full of dominance, showing true manliness.
John walked up to Aurora and asked, "Do you want a divorce?"
Aurora, with red eyes, nodded. "Yes!"
Gary was shocked. "Are you two serious?"
Aurora turned her head, still angry, and shouted, "He yelled at me. Of course, it's serious."
Just then, Ava and Todd returned, with a soaking wet Lori behind them.
Lori was wearing Todd's jacket, sneezing as she walked.
"Lori."
Aurora ran over. "Are you hurt?"
"I'm fine. I don't know what those guys injected me with, but it knocked me out. When I woke up, I was in the water. Those bastards didn't kill me, but I almost drowned. Luckily, I managed to swim up."
Lori touched her neck, still wanting to curse.
Here's what really happened.
John's ambush intercepted Christopher and his group. In a panic, Christopher threw Lori into the sea.
Besides Christopher, everyone else was brought back.
Christopher was lucky. A shark swam by, likely attracted by the blood.
John's people quickly rescued Lori, leaving Christopher to his fate.
Even if he didn't drown, the shark would get him.
"You're okay, that's what matters," Aurora said, then turned to Todd. "Get me a boat, now."
"Aurora, it's so late. What do you need a boat for?"
"To go back to Silvercrest City." Aurora shot a cold glance at John. "I'm no longer John's wife. We just verbally divorced."
"Divorced?"
The three were stunned.
Todd didn't believe it and laughed. "Aurora, you must be joking. You two just had a romantic kiss. Divorce, really?"
Lori touched Aurora's forehead. "No fever. Aurora, I fell into the sea, so my brain might be waterlogged. But you, what nonsense are you talking? Is this some kind of couple's game?"
Lori grinned mischievously.
Aurora's expression was serious. "Jack is dead, killed by John's trap."
This was like a bolt from the blue.
Lori couldn't believe it. "Aurora, are you joking?"
Jack was her brother. If he were dead, Lori would feel it.
John's voice was stern. "Aurora, keep acting up. I can find another woman. Yes, I ordered Jack's death. Are you satisfied? If you want to leave, go. Get off the island, go back to Silvercrest City."
The weight of his words was heavy.
Everyone was stunned.
John had never spoken harshly to Aurora. Now, he was using this tone.
Either John was tired of life, or their relationship was truly in trouble.
