Chapter 194 Men Should Protect Themselves Outside
Aurora didn't react like most women would if they caught their partner cheating. She didn't rush in to beat up the other woman, nor did she start cursing or go hysterical.
In Aurora's book, it always took two to tango.
When stuff like this went down, Aurora only blamed the guy, not the allure of the other woman.
Jennifer's face twisted in anger. "Ms. White, when I met John, you weren't even in the picture. If we're talking about who came first, it was me before you."
"Who came first?" Aurora sneered, "If you really want to go there, Ms. Johnson, you wouldn't even have the right to stand here. Don't forget, you were a 'dead' person."
Jennifer was momentarily speechless. Aurora didn't waste any more breath on her and turned to leave.
Lachlan and Gideon followed.
John stood at the door like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar. As soon as Aurora came out, he obediently followed without a word.
Walking through the corridor, the elevator, and out of the hotel lobby, John kept a step behind Aurora, not daring to say a single word.
Outside the hotel, Lachlan and Gideon, with perfect timing, said, "Ms. White, Boss Lewis, we suddenly have a stomachache."
John said, "You guys can go."
Hearing that, Lachlan and Gideon bolted. If they stayed, they'd definitely get caught in the crossfire.
After running a distance, Lachlan and Gideon exchanged glances and said in unison, "That was too close."
They looked back in John's direction with a knowing look. "Boss Lewis, good luck."
Aurora got into the car, taking the driver's seat, leaving John to sit in the passenger seat.
"Aurora, just now I..."
Before John could finish, Aurora started the car and sped off.
The car headed straight for the suburbs, fast but steady.
"Aurora, calm down. Nothing happened between Jennifer and me." John was terrified, not for himself, but for Aurora. She was pregnant, and driving like this was super dangerous.
Aurora's face stayed cold, and she didn't slow down, the car speeding down the road.
John didn't say another word, focusing entirely on the road ahead while keeping an eye on Aurora.
An hour later.
The car stopped in the outermost suburbs of Silver Crest City, with no one around for miles. There were no streetlights either.
Aurora parked the car by the roadside. The high-speed drive had vented much of her anger.
It was already past five in the morning. The first light of dawn was appearing on the horizon.
After the car stopped, Aurora stared straight ahead, her voice cold as ice. "John, whether or not you slept with her tonight, our relationship ends here."
John panicked. He knew Aurora too well. After their last breakup, it had taken him a lot of effort to win her back. If they broke up this time, it would really be the end.
This time, it was a matter of principle.
Aurora was an extreme person. She could be as gentle as water, as fiery as a blaze, or as cold as ice. Once frozen, it was hard to thaw.
"Aurora, tonight I was careless. I was drugged, she took off my clothes, and she booked the room. When you arrived, I had just woken up. Nothing happened between us," John explained, hoping for leniency.
John added, "I understand why you're angry. Anyone would be. You can be mad, but breaking up is too heavy for us. The biggest responsibility tonight is mine. If you want to hit or scold someone, take it out on me."
Aurora's cold gaze fixed on John. Ever since she had known him, it was the first time she had heard him say so much in one breath.
Under Aurora's gaze, John's voice gradually softened. "Aurora, for the sake of our children, give me another chance?"
"John, don't use the kids to threaten me."
"Aurora, I swear, I didn't mean it that way."
"John, I can't ignore what happened tonight. It will always be a thorn in my heart." Aurora said firmly, without hesitation, "Whether you agree or not, I unilaterally declare our breakup."
"Aurora, I absolutely disagree." John was anxious and desperate now. "You're angry right now. Let's take some time to cool off, and then we can discuss this when you're calmer."
"Get out of the car." Aurora closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Get out of the car." Her expression was ice-cold.
"Aurora..."
"If you don't get out, then I will."
As Aurora reached for the door handle, John quickly said, "I'll get out."
Once John was out of the car, Aurora stared at him and said, "From today on, we have nothing to do with each other. As for the baby, I'll handle it."
With that, Aurora hit the gas and sped away, leaving John stranded in the suburbs.
John watched the car disappear into the distance, Aurora's words echoing in his ears, and his face showed panic. Always calm and collected, John was now completely flustered.
He pulled out his phone and quickly called Todd. "Get a car and come pick me up in the suburbs, right now."
Todd was clearly still half-asleep. "Boss, are you being chased again? I drank too much tonight. The alcohol Jennifer brought was too strong; I'm still dizzy."
John then remembered that Todd had also drunk the alcohol Jennifer brought. Realizing Todd couldn't help, he called Sam. "Come pick me up in the suburbs, now."
After making the call, John tried to call Aurora, but she didn't answer.
Aurora was furious right now, and nothing he said would help.
Aurora's stance was clear. What she cared about wasn't whether he actually did anything with Jennifer, but the fact that they were in such a situation with dresses like that. Even if nothing happened, it was unacceptable.
Aurora was decisive. If she said she would handle the baby, she meant it. If the baby was really gone, then John and Aurora were truly done.
Unable to reach Aurora, John returned to the city and went to the Robinson family, the White family, and even Sophia's house. He searched everywhere he could think of but couldn't find her
John had Loren try to contact Aurora, but it was also in vain.
Aurora had disappeared.
By now, it was daylight. John, seething with anger, returned to the Meadowbrook villa.
Jennifer had been waiting in the living room since she returned from the hotel. Seeing John come back, she quickly stood up and softly called, "John."
Upon seeing Jennifer, John couldn't suppress his anger. "Get out."
What John thought about now was all about Aurora. Jennifer, as the instigator, showing up at the Meadowbrook villa was like adding fuel to the fire.
Jennifer's heart skipped a beat at John's harsh tone. He had never spoken to her so rudely before.
"John, I love you. There's nothing wrong with that. I met you first. If it weren't for Aurora, we would be married by now. We've known each other for years, and Aurora has only been with you for a few months," Jennifer confessed, her voice filled with emotion.
"I don't care what you're thinking, but if you dare to target Aurora, you can only get out." John's words were cold and final. "And now, you've made her jealous, angry, and unhappy. She doesn't like you. No matter what relationship we had before, from now on, we have nothing to do with each other."
Jennifer was stunned. "John."
"Get out." John ordered coldly. "Escort Ms. Johnson out."
The so-called escort was actually a forceful removal if she refused to leave.
With things said so bluntly, Jennifer couldn't stay any longer. She left in tears.
Todd came in from outside. "Boss, what happened? Why did Jennifer leave crying?"
John's expression was cold. "Last night, she drugged the alcohol, and booked a room at the hotel. Aurora went to find me. Now Aurora wants to break up with me and handle the baby. She's now disappeared."
The brief explanation carried a lot of information.
"Booked a room, caught cheating, broke up." Todd pieced it together, shocked. "Boss, when Ms. White caught you, why didn't you just say you were forced? If Ms. White didn't calm down, you could have called the police and accused Jennifer of trying to take advantage of you. That would have solved everything."
Sighing, Todd added, "That's why it's so important for everyone to always look out for themselves, not just women, but men too. Am I right, Boss?"
John's eyes were filled with anger. "Enough talk. Now, everyone, go find her."
