Chapter 162 Reduced to Begging on the Streets

When John was on that mountain road, he got ambushed from all sides, nearly meeting his end. Now, he wanted Rex and Wade to feel that same fear, to taste the edge of death.

"John, stop those bullmastiffs!" Wade yelled, no longer the polished gentleman he once seemed. His clothes were in tatters, and his arms and chest were covered in claw marks.

A massive bullmastiff lunged at Wade, pinning him down and sinking its teeth into him.

Wade's scream echoed through the air.

Rex, terrified, collapsed to the ground, surrounded by two more bullmastiffs.

These four bullmastiffs were well-trained; without John's command, they wouldn't kill, but they'd definitely leave a mark.

Just then, John's phone rang. It was Aurora.

John picked up, and Aurora heard the growls and howls. "John, what's that noise?"

Aurora couldn't quite place it; it sounded like a mix of wolves and tigers.

"I got four bullmastiffs to play with Wade and Rex," John said casually. "You should get some rest tonight."

Wade had hurt John, and John was making sure he paid for it.

Aurora, picturing the scene, shivered but said, "An eye for an eye, I like it."

There was a hint of excitement in her voice, like she wished she could see it herself.

Honestly, Aurora hated Wade's fake persona and wanted to see him scared out of his mind.

"Have you found who hurt Helen?" Aurora asked.

"Yeah, it was Emily. The cops are already on their way to arrest her."

Aurora was surprised but not really.

Emily was definitely capable of something like this.

"Is Emily doing this because we cut off one of her fingers before? Is she taking revenge on Helen?"

"The reason doesn't matter anymore," John replied.

What mattered was making Emily pay.

Aurora didn't say much more; she knew John was still busy. She didn't mention her own danger that night to avoid worrying him.

After half an hour of torment from the bullmastiffs, Wade was exhausted, lying on the ground like a dead fish. "John, kill me if you want, but don't humiliate me."

John, legs crossed elegantly, looked every bit the gentleman, not like someone with blood on his hands.

John casually curled his lips. "Wade, you started this game big, and now you want to end it after just half an hour? That would be an insult to all your careful planning. Don't make me look down on you like that."

The four bullmastiffs stood guard three yards away, watching Wade and Rex intently.

Wade's jealousy and hatred for John were fully aroused, and he no longer hid it.

"John, what do you want to let us go?"

Wade gritted his teeth, his clothes torn to shreds by the bullmastiffs, looking as ragged as a roadside beggar.

Rex was paralyzed with fear, lying on the ground and gasping for breath, unable to speak. He kept staring at the bullmastiffs, afraid they would pounce again.

John stood up and walked over to Wade. He looked down at Wade like a king looking at a guilty subject.

"What right do you have to negotiate with me?" John snorted. "If it weren't for the fact that you have the Lewis Family blood in you, I would've thrown you into the sea to feed the sharks long ago. Do you think you have the right to shout in front of me?"

Wade was furious, but he knew he had no right to shout.

"To the victor go the spoils, John. Do whatever you want with me. I, won't even frown."

"Still some pride left as a member of the Lewis Family," John said, his eyes darkening. "Get out of Lewis Group. Apart from the Lewis name, everything else in the Lewis Family has nothing to do with you."

Upon hearing this, Rex was immediately provoked. "No way, you want to kick us out and take the Lewis Family's property all for yourself? Dream on. You have no right to kick us out. My dad isn't dead yet. It's not your place to decide."

John, instead of getting angry, smiled. "Looks like you really like my four pets. How about letting them play with you again?"

Rex, scared out of his mind, wanted to curse but swallowed his words when he saw those four bullmastiffs. His eyes were filled with pure fear.

Wade finally got it. Even if he wasn't kicked out, everything in Lewis Family was under John's thumb. He couldn't touch a thing.

Lloyd wouldn't step in; they couldn't count on him.

John was set on cleaning up Lewis Family and reorganizing the company. Once Wade was out, the rest of Lewis Family wouldn't dare to cause trouble. From then on, whatever John said would go.

But Wade got one thing wrong.

John didn't give a damn about Lewis Group. What Wade had been scheming to take was nothing to John.

The Nightfall organization made twenty times the annual profit of Lewis Group. If it weren't for his promise to Lloyd to straighten out Lewis Family, John wouldn't have bothered with the company at all.

If Wade hadn't been so sneaky, John would've handed the company over to him without a second thought.

Luckily, Wade didn't know John's thoughts, or he would've been even more pissed.

Wade gritted his teeth and made up his mind. "Fine, I agree. From now on, my dad and I will leave Lewis Family and have nothing more to do with it."

"Wade, I didn't agree. If you want to leave, go ahead. I'm not leaving," Rex said. He had fought in Lewis Family all his life, first against John's father and now against John. He wouldn't leave so easily.

Wade was exasperated. "If you don't leave, then stay here and feed those four bullmastiffs. As long as there's life, there's hope."

This last sentence convinced Rex.

Ultimately, it was the fear of death.

John sneered, "Throw them out. Immediately find a reporter to publish an article overnight, saying that Wade Lewis of Lewis Family has voluntarily resigned and started his own business. Also, have the legal department come tomorrow to liquidate Mr. Wade Lewis's assets and confiscate everything."

Wade's face turned livid with anger. "John, you're ruthless."

"Throw them out."

Rex and Wade were thrown out.

It wasn't very harmful, but it was extremely humiliating.

Wade had never been so embarrassed in his life.

The neighbors peeked out to take a look, then quickly closed their doors and windows.

It was best not to get involved in Lewis Family's drama.

Since they were kicked out with nothing, John didn't give them a single cent except for their identification documents.

They had been brought by car, but they left barefoot because their shoes were torn apart by the bullmastiffs.

Their clothes were in tatters, hanging on their bodies. As they walked, the night breeze made it quite chilly.

As they walked out of the villa area, they attracted a lot of attention. Everyone who passed by stopped to look, laughed, and then discussed while walking away.

Rex and Wade kept their heads down, covering their faces, afraid of being recognized.

In fact, they had already been recognized.

After leaving the villa area, they walked to the main street. They felt a bit tired and found a place to sit and rest.

A passerby, feeling sorry for them, gave them ten dollars, saying sympathetically, "Oh, how pitiful."

Rex and Wade were furious.

Wade's fists clenched tightly; this was a great humiliation to him.

Before Wade could react, someone else threw five dollars on the ground. "You have hands and feet, yet you're in this state. You must be lazy. Take this five dollars and buy some bread. Young people should work hard to make money."

Wade was scolded. In the past, who would dare talk to him like that?

Wade angrily kicked away the money on the ground, but Rex quickly picked it up. "Wade, bear with it. At least we have some money, so we don't have to walk back."

Even a hero was once brought to a standstill by the lack of a single penny.

Someone else, feeling sorry for them, gave them two sets of old clothes.

Rex and Wade, who had always worn brand names, were initially resistant. But they couldn't keep walking around with rags on, so they gritted their teeth and put on the musty old clothes.
