Chapter 190 Appendicitis is Better than Hemorrhoids
All hospitals had duty rosters.
It was quite easy for Jennifer to know who was checking Aurora in the morning and why Aurora was hospitalized.
Money could solve many things..
After spending some money, Jennifer got Aurora's medical records. When she saw what was written on the records, she frowned immediately.
"Acute appendicitis?"
This was completely different from what she had expected.
Sandra was also surprised. "Not pregnant?"
The doctor who gave the medical records said, "Ms. White indeed has acute appendicitis. Fortunately, she came early; otherwise, it would have been troublesome."
"Thank you." Jennifer handed some money to the doctor. "May I ask which room Ms. White is in?"
"Room 809."
"Thank you."
After getting answer, she immediately pulled Sandra out of the doctor's office.
Sandra said, "Jennifer, since Aurora is not pregnant, you can relax."
"You go back first. I'll go check the ward." Jennifer said, "By the way, you'd better return to The Shadow of Darkness organization."
"Jennifer, I want to stay with you and watch Aurora get dumped by John." Sandra was not willing to leave just like that.
Jennifer gave Sandra a meaningful look but said nothing.
Sandra had grown into a beautiful woman, and John was an outstanding man. It was possible for her to develop feelings for him.
A woman's intuition was always accurate.
Jennifer walked to the door of Aurora's ward and looked inside through the small window.
When she saw John using his arm as a pillow for Aurora, and the two of them resting together on the bed, jealousy burned fiercely like fire in Jennifer's heart.
"Aurora." Jennifer muttered Aurora's name, wishing she could chew it up and swallow it. She clenched her fists, gritting her teeth, and struggled to control her emotions.
Jennifer couldn't bear to look at the scene in the ward any longer. She clutched her chest, which had started to ache again, and walked away.
Sandra also took a glance inside, her jealousy no less intense than Jennifer's.
The next day.
John went to the doctor's office, "Anything happend?"
"Mr. Lewis, you were right. Ms. Johnson did come to check Ms. White's medical records last night." The doctor said respectfully, "I showed Ms. Johnson the pre-fabricated medical records as you instructed ."
"Well done."
John left the office. He had already guessed that Jennifer would check his whereabouts and Aurora's hospitalization.
Better safe than sorry. The fact that Aurora was pregnant should be kept secret as long as possible.
Early in the morning, Ashley and Loren brought some delicious food to the hospital.
After having a hearty meal, she sent the rest for Chris.
Chris had taken a knife for her, so she couldn't just ignore it. Gratitude was one of Aurora's fine qualities.
Aurora originally planned to walk over, but Loren insisted she use a wheelchair. In the end, she couldn't argue with her son and had to compromise.
Loren pushed the wheelchair, showing great care despite his young age.
Chris was already awake. Due to his back injury, he could only lie on his side.
"Mr. Harris, are you feeling better?" Aurora placed the chicken soup on the table and said gratefully, "Thank you so much for yesterday. I owe you another grace ."
The hardest thing to repay was a grace .
"In that situation, anyone would have helped with hesitation ." Chris glanced at Aurora sitting in the wheelchair. "You hurt too?"
Aurora laughed, "I'm getting old, and my body can't take it. Tought I dodged that knife,I couldn't escape hospitalization. Now, I can keep you company."
Aurora naturally wouldn't mention her pregnancy and casually made up an excuse.
Chris felt a bit speechless..
Chris said with a hint of complaint, "I remember Ms. White is only twenty-five this year."
"Once a woman passes twenty-five, collagen loss speeds up, and all bodily functions decline. We age quickly." Aurora made up nonsense. "Unlike you, you men are still in your prime at thirty, but women start to decline after eighteen. My son is already this grown; my body really can't take it."
When it came to eloquence, Chris had to admire Aurora.
Loren, being clever, cooperated with Aurora and said worriedly, "Mommy, the doctor said you need to rest more. But please don't retire before middle age. I have a lot of pressure too. I need to save money to get a wife, and raise my own kids"
"Hold up ." Aurora gave Loren a look. "Didn't you say Mommy is your favorite? Loren, you've changed. You don't love Mommy anymore. Mommy is so sad."
Aurora clutched her chest, pretending to be heartbroken, and tried hard to squeeze out tears, but not a single tear came out.
Loren's chubby little hand patted Aurora while comforting her, "Alright, Mommy is still my favorite."
Chris looked at Loren. This wasn't the first time he had seen the child. He had seen him before at Mr. Lewis's birthday banquet, but today, he found Loren seemed even more endearing.
It was probably because he had seen how Loren and Aurora interact in video calls before that he felt this way.
But the roles between mother and son were reversed. Now, Aurora pretended to cry while Loren comforted Aurora, acting like a little adult.
The more Chris watched, the stronger the warm feeling in his heart grew.
Aurora said, "Mr. Harris, take good care of your injury. Now we're both patients. I'll come to see you when I have time."
Chris snapped back to reality and nodded instinctively. "Okay."
"Then we'll be going now. Remember to drink the chicken soup."
Loren pushed Aurora away, and the faint sound of their laughter lingered until it faded away completely.
Chris felt a bit dazed, and felt jealous to John once again.
How was John so lucky to find such a wonderful woman like Aurora?
Since Aurora didn't want to go back to the ward, she asked Loren to push her around and basked in the sun in the courtyard downstairs.
Coincidentally.
They ran into Helen, who was also bored and had come downstairs to bask in the sun.
Helen first noticed Loren and approached as if she was drawn by some force. She thought this little boy was really beautiful and looked quite similar to little John.
Helen smiled and asked Aurora, "Is this your son? He's so handsome. I've never seen such a beautiful boy before."
Helen had amnesia, so naturally, she didn't remember Loren.
"Yes, my son." Aurora paused for a moment, then smiled, "Loren, call Ms. Lewis."
Loren, aware of Helen's amnesia, politely said, "Ms. Lewis, my name is Loren."
"How do you know my last name is Lewis?" Helen asked, "Did we know each other before?"
"You're John Lewis's mother. Who wouldn't know you?" Aurora laughed and asked, "Ms. Lewis, are you feeling bored? How about I find a few people, and we play some mahjong?"
Helen loved playing mahjong. Even with amnesia, she still remembered how to play.
Upon hearing mahjong, Helen immediately felt her hands seemed itchy , so she eagerly nodded. "Sure, arrange it quickly. I'm so bored."
"Alright, I'll arrange it right away." Aurora immediately called Sophia and, after some thought, also called Leo.
Leo didn't like playing mahjong, but when he heard Sophia would be there, he immediately came over.
Half an hour later, a mahjong table was set up in Aurora's ward.
Sophia and Leo took their seats, and the four of them started playing mahjong, with Loren serving tea on the side.
As Aurora put it, it didn't matter if Helen had amnesia or mistook Jennifer for her daughter-in-law. At worst, she could rebuild her relationship with Helen.
Catering to her interests, playing mahjong was the best way to bond.
After Aurora let Helen win several rounds, Helen couldn't stop smiling, "My luck is great today. You three need to try harder."
Aurora pretended to be annoyed. "Your mahjong skills are so good. I really want to win, but I can't."
Sophia, knowing Aurora was trying to bond with her future mother-in-law, sensibly said, "Yes, Ms. Lewis, your skills are good enough for competitions. I'm almost out of money in my purse."
Leo seized the opportunity to gain favor, saying, "If you lose, it's on me."
Sophia rolled her eyes at Leo, and the four continued playing.
Jennifer came early to see Helen but didn't find her in the ward. When she saw Helen playing mahjong with Aurora and the others, laughing continuously, Jennifer's expression turned very unpleasant.
Jennifer quickly regained her composure and walked in with a smile, "Auntie Helen, you were here. Ms. White, I heard you had an appendectomy. Are you feeling better now?"
Sophia and Leo both looked at Aurora in unison.
Appendicitis?
