Chapter 9: The Real Big Shot

Todd's task today was to book the venue for John under his own name.

Once the task was done, he naturally couldn't stay any longer as a third wheel.

Pretending to take a phone call, Todd found a lame excuse. "Boss, Miss White, something came up suddenly. I have to go. Enjoy yourselves."

"Alright," John responded lightly.

Aurora felt very embarrassed. They had just used Todd's influence to humiliate Daniel and Emily, and now they were getting a free meal.

"Mr. Smith, thank you so much for earlier. If it weren't for your help, it would have been quite embarrassing."

"The boss's business is my business. It's no big deal. Those two really don't deserve to enter Villa Kitchen again; they're disgusting." Todd sneaked a glance at John, the real owner of Villa Kitchen. Those two offending John and Aurora were just asking for trouble.

"Miss White, Boss, I really have to go now. I'm being urged. Enjoy your meal."

Not waiting for Aurora to say anything else, Todd quickly slipped away.

"John, what does Todd do?"

Todd's tone showed he didn't care about Daniel and Emily at all, nor was he afraid of offending the Taylor family. He must have a significant background.

Silvercrest City was indeed full of hidden talents. Although Aurora was the daughter of the White family, she had never mingled in the rich circles. Besides, the daughter of the White family couldn't get into those higher circles in the first place.

Let alone knowing someone who could book Villa Kitchen.

"He works in the film industry," John said casually. "He's the heir to the Smith Group."

"What?" Aurora was shocked. "How do you know the heir to the Smith Group?"

The Smith Group was a giant in the film industry, a name everyone in the circle feared.

Aurora never expected John to know the heir of the Smith Group.

"I saved his life once," John said seriously, making up a story. "He owes me his life."

"No wonder he listens to you so well. It's because he's repaying a life debt." Aurora didn't doubt John at all and believed him. After all, John didn't look like a wealthy person, and such a reason made sense.

Otherwise, why would the heir of the Smith Group respect John so much?

Thinking about Daniel's demeaning words, Aurora felt very apologetic. "Don't take those words to heart."

"It's fine." John didn't care about the people, so why would he care about their words?

Aurora felt the need to explain. "Those two were..."

"Aurora, the past is not worth mentioning," John held her hand. "Your boyfriend isn't that easily provoked."

Initially, John was just interested in Aurora. Just now, seeing her defend him, he felt a warmth in his heart.

He didn't need Aurora to explain what happened with those two; he knew everything clearly.

John had already investigated Aurora's past thoroughly.

Aurora's eyes suddenly welled up. At first, she was just trying things out with John, not planning for a long-term relationship.

From those words earlier, anyone could tell she had a history with Daniel.

Another man would have questioned her or stormed off by now.

But John didn't ask.

Aurora smiled. "Right, the past is not worth mentioning. I'm hungry. Let's eat."

John's smile deepened. "Okay."

After eating, on the way back, John drove with one hand and held Aurora's hand with the other, their fingers tightly intertwined.

The intimate contact made their relationship progress quickly, causing Aurora to blush. She wasn't used to it and tried to pull her hand back, but he held on tightly.

Aurora didn't try to break free again, shyly turning her head away to avoid looking at John.

Seeing her shy reflection in the car window, Aurora bit her lip. John's soft laughter reached her ears. "My Aurora is really thin-skinned."

"Your Aurora?"

Aurora huffed, her cheeks burning, her heart racing. Her shyness made John smile even more.

Aurora's face turned even redder, her palms sweating slightly. She felt shy and excited, her heart racing, feeling warm inside. She had never felt this way with Daniel.

'Is this what it feels like to have a crush?' she wondered.

Aurora lowered her head. "Focus on driving."

"Okay!" John listened to Aurora.

But although he said that, he didn't let go of her hand.

Just then, John's phone rang. He frowned and didn't answer.

"Why aren't you answering the phone?" Aurora was curious. "Answer it; it might be something urgent."

The phone kept ringing. John finally glanced at the caller ID, frowning even more.

Aurora didn't deliberately listen to John's call, so she didn't know what the person on the other end said. She only saw John's face suddenly turn grim.

After the call ended, Aurora asked in confusion, "What happened?"

"Aurora, I have something to deal with."

"It's okay. You go ahead." Aurora felt a bit disappointed but was understanding. She could tell something had happened from John's expression.

"Alright." John first took Aurora to the entrance of her apartment complex, apologizing, "Aurora, I'll make it up to you another day."

"I'm fine. You go ahead!"

Aurora stood by the roadside, watching John leave. After the car disappeared into the night, she was about to turn and enter the complex when she suddenly got a call from Sophia.

"Aurora, help, Aurora," Sophia's anxious voice had a hint of drunkenness.

Aurora's heart tightened. "Sophia, what's wrong? Where are you? I'm coming right now."

Aurora immediately took a cab to the club Sophia mentioned.

She found Sophia, dead drunk, in a private room. Aurora rushed over. "Sophia, why did you drink so much? I'll take you home."

"Aurora, you're here." Sophia was so drunk she couldn't stand.

Aurora supported Sophia. Before they could leave, a man blocked their way, his eyes leering at Aurora. "Hey beautiful, where are you going? Let me take you."

Aurora frowned and said coldly, "Move aside!"

"Oh, I like that temper," the man said, even more excited, reaching out to grab Aurora. "Come with me tonight. I'll treat you right."

He reeked of alcohol, and Aurora, disgusted, frowned and grew angrier. "Move aside."

"What if I don't?" The man laughed smugly. "What can you do? I like icy beauties. Come on, let me treat you right. No one else can have you tonight."

The private room erupted in cheers. "Mr. Robinson, if you get this beauty, I'll give you my car parked outside."

"It's a deal. The beauty and the car are mine."

As soon as he finished speaking, there was a loud bang in the private room.

Aurora had kicked him under the table, shattering the empty bottles on it.

The room fell silent, everyone stunned.

She was so fierce.

"Sophia, let's go." Aurora carried Sophia.

Before they could react, Aurora had already left.

Someone in the room screamed, "Call an ambulance. Mr. Robinson is bleeding."

Aurora was cautious, worried someone might chase them, so she took Sophia out through the club's back door.

Unexpectedly, they hadn't gone far when they saw a group of people fighting ahead.

Aurora didn't want to get involved. Before she could quietly leave, the drunk Sophia suddenly shouted, "Drink, keep drinking."

This immediately caught the group's attention.

Aurora's heart skipped a beat as the group surrounded them.

"Boss, it's two women. What should we do?"
