Chapter 446 So Angry I Want to Swear
The man in the mask handed the hair to the female doctor with a smile. "Working the night shift is rough. You doctors are like angels in white coats. Angels shouldn't get tired. Make sure you get some rest."
The man's concern warmed the female doctor's heart.
"Yeah, night shifts are exhausting. My eyelids keep drooping. I'll take this to the lab and then get some rest. By the way, are you a patient's family member? You look unfamiliar. Which bed?"
"Bed 15. He was asking for a midnight snack, so I need to go get him something to eat."
With that, the masked man headed towards the elevator.
The female doctor didn't think much of it and took the hair to the lab. It wasn't until she was halfway there that she remembered the patient in bed 15 had been discharged that afternoon.
Could the man have made a mistake?
The doctor was too tired to dwell on it. She yawned, handed the hair to the lab, and went to rest.
In the hospital parking lot, the masked man removed his mask, revealing his face. It was Oren.
Oren took out the hair he had swapped earlier, a cold smile spreading across his face. He started his car and drove to the hospital where Karolyn was staying.
Oren avoided the surveillance John had set up and made his way to Karolyn's room.
The room was quiet, with only a dim wall lamp providing light.
Karolyn was resting on the bed. Oren quietly approached, looking at the sleeping Karolyn and her swollen belly. He felt a sense of peace and hope.
Oren couldn't resist reaching out to touch Karolyn's belly. As soon as his hand made contact, Karolyn's eyes snapped open, and she pushed Oren away forcefully. "Who told you to come here? Get out."
"Ms. Johnson," Oren's eyes darkened as he reluctantly withdrew his hand.
"Don't call me that. I'm not Karolyn anymore. My name is Sandra Harrington now."
Karolyn touched her current face, feeling a deep sense of dissatisfaction. "Why didn't you find a better plastic surgeon to make me prettier? It's because of this plain face that John doesn't even look at me."
The Karolyn before him was actually Sandra.
The person who had died in that fire wasn't Sandra but someone Oren had arranged to take her place. He had teamed up with Jack to fake Sandra's death and evade the police.
Jack wanted John's life, while Oren wanted Sandra to survive.
"You still have hopes for him? John is already suspicious of you." Oren showed Sandra the hair he had swapped. "This is Alexander's hair. If it proves you're related, it will confirm you're Sandra, and your fake death will be exposed. The police won't let you go. Luckily, I overheard John's plan and swapped the hair. Even if the test results come out, they won't be able to do anything to you."
Sandra suddenly remembered John getting close to her. So, he was just trying to get a hair sample.
Sandra didn't care and was even pleased. "I changed my face, but John still recognized me. It means I'm still important to him. Only someone familiar would recognize me, right?"
Oren was furious.
Was that the point?
Women's thought processes were always so peculiar.
Suppressing his anger, Oren patiently said, "Sandra, we can't stay here any longer. Otherwise, something will happen. John won't let you go. Don't forget, you killed his mother. What are you still hoping for?"
Oren almost wanted to curse Sandra for being out of her mind.
Killing someone's mother and still hoping to be with them—what kind of madness is that?
But Sandra was the woman he loved, and he couldn't bring himself to scold her.
"Why should I leave? I'm Karolyn now. You just said the hair was swapped, so they can't find out. As long as we eliminate their suspicions, everything will be fine." Sandra caressed her belly. "You don't want me to keep running around with your son, do you? Oren, I don't care what you do, but I want to stay. You have to eliminate their suspicions."
Oren said sternly, "You're courting death. Karolyn sacrificed herself for you. Your life is hers. You can't be so reckless."
The real Karolyn, who had died in the fire, was a member of The Shadow of Darkness organization.
"If you didn't keep showing up around me, they wouldn't suspect me. That day in the alley, I told you to take care of that bitch Aurora, but you didn't dare. Otherwise, I would have had my revenge by now."
Sandra said heartlessly, "Besides, Karolyn chose to die for me. I didn't make her. Her death has nothing to do with me."
"I think you're beyond saving." Oren suddenly felt a deep sense of helplessness.
"Oren, don't pretend to be kind in front of me. I know how much blood is on your hands. If you want me to leave, it's not impossible. I want John to come with me. I want to go to a utopia with him and live a carefree life. That's the condition for me giving you a son."
"You're openly making me a cuckold?"
"Don't forget how this child came to be." Sandra glared at Oren. "In my eyes, you'll always be a rapist."
The venomous look and harsh words were like needles piercing Oren's heart.
Oren sat down in defeat, wanting to smoke to calm himself, but seeing Sandra's pregnant belly, he dismissed the idea.
Oren wiped his face, his eyes bloodshot. He lowered his head in thought for a few seconds, then looked up at Sandra's belly. It was almost six months along. In three more months, the baby would be born.
This was his son, the son Sandra was giving him.
In those few seconds, Oren seemed to make a decision. "Fine, whatever you want, I'll do it. But for the next few days, you must stay in the hospital and take care of the baby. My son can't have any complications."
Sandra had a smug look on her face. "As long as you keep me happy, your son will be fine."
"I can't handle John alone. I'll have to team up with Black Hawk again." Oren sneered. "Recently, I discovered something interesting. Black Hawk is Aurora's brother, Jack."
"Him?"
Sandra was also surprised.
The next day.
At the White Villa.
Aurora brought breakfast to Jack's room, but it was empty.
Aurora felt a surge of anxiety and turned to leave, running into Wendy on the stairs.
Wendy asked, "Aurora, what's wrong?"
"Jack is missing." Aurora hurried to check the surveillance footage.
The doors and windows were locked. How did Jack disappear?
Through the footage, Aurora saw that at around 4 a.m., Dean had entered Jack's room. About ten minutes later, Jack had come out.
Dean had let Jack out.
