Chapter 333: What a Coincidence
Lori didn't feel embarrassed at all; everyone has their own expertise.
She can fight, but if she study those things, she'll just fall asleep.
Aurora sighed softly and communicated with the receptionist in Portuguese. Only then did the receptionist send someone to lead Aurora and Lori to their room.
Lachlan was still behind, carrying their things.
Seeing Aurora speak such fluent Portuguese, Lori was in awe. "Aurora, you're amazing."
"I studied languages. I used to work as a translator at a company." Aurora replied.
"How many languages do you know?"
Aurora thought for a moment and spoke, "I learned five in school, and after graduation, I taught myself three more."
"Aurora, you're a genius." Lori admired her.
Aurora explained, "I find languages interesting, especially the less common ones. Learning a language also lets you understand its history, which is fascinating."
"That's interesting for people like you with good brains. For me, it's just torture." Lori commented.
Lori didn't like studying; she would fall asleep within three minutes of reading.
The two took the elevator to the fifth floor. As soon as they stepped out, the hallway was suddenly chaotic.
Two burly men were fighting, or rather, fighting for their lives.
The carpet was stained with blood, and other guests were just peeking out of their rooms, too scared to approach. The hotel security personnel were shouting in Portuguese, "Hey, get out! No fighting allowed here."
The two men were locked in a fierce battle, fighting as if their lives depended on it.
Aurora deeply felt how chaotic this small town was. The hotel staff leading them upstairs, a young woman, seemed unfazed. "This way, please."
Aurora was genuinely impressed by her calmness.
Lori glanced at the two fighting men and clicked her tongue. "They're such amateurs, seriously. Just do an over-the-shoulder throw, lock the opponent's spine, and snap it. It's so easy, yet they're fighting for so long."
Aurora felt a chill just listening to her.
Everyone was just standing around, kinda waiting to see what would happen. Although Aurora was shocked, she didn't interfere.
As they were about to enter their room, the bald man who had been pinned to the ground broke free and ran towards them.
Covered in blood and looking fierce, Aurora's heart almost stopped in fear.
Lori might not be good with languages, but her combat skills were top-notch.
"Lori." Aurora knew better and stood behind Lori.
"Aurora, just stay behind me." Lori exuded confidence and delivered a swift, powerful kick.
It was fast, fierce, and accurate.
The bald man fell to the ground, spitting blood.
Lori's kick could deliver 500 pounds of force; she was a powerhouse, not just boasting.
The hotel staff also hid behind Lori, realizing these two guests were extraordinary.
The other man, seeing the bald man down, didn't thank Lori but instead attacked her like a madman.
Lori executed the move she had just described to Aurora.
With her slender hand, she grabbed the man's shoulder, performed an over-the-shoulder throw, and locked his spine.
Aurora realized what Lori was about to kill him, in shock, instinctively shouted, "Lori."
Lori glanced at Aurora and changed her final move, sparing the man's life. Instead, she struck his back with her elbow, then lifted him and threw him aside.
After a loud crash, the world fell silent.
Everyone looked at Lori as if she were a monster.
The man weighed over 300 pounds, yet Lori lifted and threw him effortlessly, as if playing.
Aurora was totally taken aback. Even though she had seen Lori tossing Jennifer around before, this scene still stunned her.
Aurora gave Lori a thumbs up. "Impressive!"
"Piece of cake." Lori dusted off her hands and flipped her hair. "Aurora, let's go."
If it weren't for Aurora, Lori wouldn't have held back, not wanting to scare Aurora with a more brutal scene.
After Aurora and Lori entered their room, the people in the hallway snapped out of it.
Who was that woman just now?
What big shot had come to this small town, so fierce?
The hotel security staff also recovered and started directing, "Throw these two out and clean the floor."
After giving these orders, Luis, the staff member who had led Aurora and Lori upstairs, apologized to everyone. "Sorry for disturbing our esteemed guests. The hotel will offer a free afternoon tea as an apology."
No one said anything; they all closed their doors, completely unfazed by what had just happened.
Luis glanced at the room where Aurora was staying and instructed the security personnel, "Keep an eye on the guests in this room. Remember, don't mess with them."
Luis was actually the owner of the hotel, occasionally inspecting in the guise of a staff member.
"Yes, Sir."
After giving his instructions, Luis left.
The hallway returned to its usual calm. Luis took the elevator downstairs, and as the elevator opened, a man hurriedly entered.
He was also a guest at the hotel.
Luis stepped aside, "Please, esteemed guest."
This man was none other than Richard.
Richard glanced at Luis and took the elevator to the sixth floor.
Aurora was staying in room 508, and coincidentally, Richard was in room 608, right above her.
In the hotel, Aurora pulled back the curtain and looked out at the distance. She could still see the group of begging children on the street.
The gap between the poor and the rich was crazy obvious.
One foot in wealth, the other in poverty.
Aurora let down the curtain and asked, "Lori, don't people in this country care?"
"Aurora, their country runs on a whole different set of rules. The rich get richer, the poor get the shaft. It's just how things roll for them. Survival of the fittest, you know?"
Aurora knew that not every place was peaceful and serene.
Lachlan brought the luggage upstairs and then went out again.
Aurora and Lori rested in the hotel, waiting for news from John.
Lori lay on the sofa, eating fruit. "Aurora, one of them has a leg injury, and the other has hands injury. How do you think they have the courage to go out?"
Two disabled people going out to work while two healthy people stayed in, eating fruit and enjoying the air conditioning.
It really felt like a vacation.
Aurora felt a bit guilty, but...
"Lori, I think you shouldn't underestimate the people from Nightfall."
"True, everyone around John is highly skilled and won't suffer."
So, the two of them rested comfortably in the hotel.
Time flew by.
Night fell.
The small town was unusually quiet, making Aurora uneasy, but Lori was used to it.
Just then, Aurora went to the bathroom and found the ceiling leaking, or rather, it was like a small waterfall.
Water was pouring down from a big hole in the ceiling.
"Lori, get the hotel staff to check upstairs. The ceiling is leaking."
"Aurora, I can't communicate with them."
"OK, I'll go."
