Chapter 8: Blacklisted
The words "truly in love" made John very happy. Even though he knew Aurora was using him, it didn't affect his good mood.
"Aurora," Daniel said furiously, "How did you fall so low? Where did you find such a pretty man?"
Using "pretty" to describe a man was derogatory.
Aurora naturally caught the sarcasm in Daniel's words, implying that John was a man who relied on women to survive.
Emily glanced at Daniel's expression and felt particularly pleased. She didn't expect Aurora to really find a useless man.
But on the surface, Emily pretended to be anxious and said, "Sis, don't be fooled. Look at the car this man drives, just a cheap one worth a few thousand dollars. How can he make you happy? He's just deceiving you."
Aurora coldly curled her lips, "Even if I have to ride a bicycle with him, I'm willing."
How could Aurora not know what kind of person Emily was?
Emily must be overjoyed now. Aurora had found an ordinary boyfriend, while Emily was Mrs. Taylor. From now on, Emily would be completely superior to her.
"Aurora, break up with this man immediately." Daniel's face was cold, and his tone was commanding, "Even if you want to piss me off, find someone better. Do you think I'll believe you with this poor guy?"
"Believe it or not, I just like him. I don't care if he's rich or not. As long as I'm with him, I'm willing to ride a bicycle. Please show some respect to my boyfriend."
The sarcasm in Daniel's tone made Aurora angry. She couldn't stand John being insulted.
John was a man with self-respect. Daniel could vent his anger at her, but he couldn't belittle John.
Aurora didn't want to stay a moment longer and just wanted to leave with John quickly."Darling, let's head home for dinner."
John's hawk-like eyes saw through Aurora's thoughts. Seeing Aurora defend him made John very happy. As for Daniel's mockery, he didn't care at all.
"The table is already reserved, so we should eat before we leave." John affectionately ruffled Aurora's hair. "Why starve yourself because of two flies?"
"Who are you calling flies?" Emily was very angry and sneered, "You, a poor guy, reserved a table here? Who are you kidding? With your shabby appearance, you can't even get in. Stop pretending to be rich."
Daniel's face was also very grim, and he sneered, "Aurora, where did you find this guy? He really talks big. Does he even know what this place is? This is Silvercrest City's 'Villa Kitchen,' not a place for just anyone."
Facing their ridicule, John maintained a faint smile on his face, but the coldness in his eyes gradually deepened, becoming colder than the December weather.
Aurora also thought John was boasting. She just assumed John was playing along with her act. She couldn't let these two look down on her.
Aurora coldly glanced at Daniel and Emily, about to speak, but John, with his full aura, said something meaningful, "Villa Kitchen is indeed not a place for just anyone."
Daniel looked at the suddenly imposing and intimidating John, emanating an aura that made people hesitate to look him in the eye, and frowned, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, from now on, you and the woman beside you will be blacklisted from this restaurant, never to enter again."
Daniel laughed angrily, "Arrogant."
Emily also laughed, "What a big talk, blacklisting us? Who do you think you are? It's hilarious. Aurora, where did you find this weirdo? It's too funny."
Aurora felt that John might have exaggerated a bit, but she had to back her boyfriend up no matter how grand his claims were.
Aurora smiled, calmly linking her arm with John's, "Silvercrest City is vast, full of hidden talents. One should be humble, or it will be too embarrassing when faced with reality."
Emily laughed directly, "Aurora, you're too arrogant, talking about hidden talents with this shabby guy."
At this moment, a rush of footsteps quickly approached.
Leading the way was Villa Kitchen's manager, Michael Nelson, followed by a dozen security guards.
Seeing them, Emily said smugly, "Aurora, apologize to me, and Daniel and I will let you and your poor boyfriend in. Otherwise, you'll be kicked out."
"Dream on!" Aurora would never apologize.
Emily sneered, with a superior attitude, said to Michael, "Michael, is Villa Kitchen letting just anyone in now? If so, we won't come here anymore. It lowers our standards."
Emily's words were a threat, assuming Michael wouldn't dare offend her and Daniel. She was Mrs. Taylor, after all. Smart people knew what to choose.
Emily and Daniel waited for Aurora and John to be kicked out in embarrassment. Aurora was also a bit nervous. How could she and John have the qualifications to enter?
Aurora was thinking about how to resolve this when Michael suddenly nodded slightly at John, "Mr. Lewis, Mr. Smith has arrived."
"Okay," John responded expressionlessly.
Emily was dumbfounded.
Daniel was also very surprised.
Michael was the manager of Villa Kitchen. The guests who could enter Villa Kitchen were all prominent, powerful people.
How could Michael know this poor guy?
Aurora was very puzzled and confused, lowering her voice to ask, "John, what's going on?"
John gently patted Aurora's hand, signaling her not to worry and leave everything to him.
John's words inexplicably calmed and reassured Aurora.
Michael gestured to the security guards behind him and said, "Show all unrelated personnel out."
With that command, the security guards approached Daniel and Emily. "Please leave."
Emily shrieked, "Are you kidding me? I'm Mrs. Taylor! Open your eyes and see clearly. How dare you kick me out?"
Daniel, with a stern face, revealed his identity, "I'm Daniel, the son of Aaron Taylor from Taylor Group. We are dining here tonight."
When Daniel mentioned he was from the Taylor family, his face showed a superior sense of pride.
Emily also displayed a smug look, "Take a good look. Can you afford to offend the Taylor family?"
Michael was unfazed, "No matter whose son you are, you must leave today. This place is reserved for the night. Guards, please escort them out."
Though he said "escort," it was clear they were being kicked out.
If they didn't cooperate, they could even be thrown out.
Daniel felt humiliated, "What kind of big shot can reserve the entire Villa Kitchen?"
"Yeah, Michael, stop bluffing. Why aren't you kicking those two out?" Emily pointed at Aurora and John. "If we can't get in, how can these two paupers?"
John's expression darkened, and his voice was cold, "I don't want to see these two here again."
Michael didn't know John's identity, but he had an impeccable sense of timing and survival skills. Anyone who could make Todd from Smith Media Group so respectful must be significant.
As long as he served carefully, he couldn't go wrong.
Tonight's reservation was made by Todd, and John had been here with Todd multiple times. Naturally, Michael recognized him.
"Yes, Mr. Lewis." Michael instructed his staff, "Blacklist those two and put a sign at the entrance."
If the sign was put up, Daniel and Emily would be utterly humiliated and unable to show their faces in their social circle.
Everyone who frequented this place was from their circle. If the sign was up, everyone would know.
Daniel and Emily were not just embarrassed; they were panicking.
"Why? Who do you think you are?" Emily shouted arrogantly.
John's eyebrows furrowed coldly, "Noisy!"
Michael received the order and immediately instructed the security guards, "Throw them out."
"Yes, Manager Nelson."
The security guards grabbed Daniel and Emily and dragged them out.
It was embarrassing and humiliating.
Emily shouted, "Don't touch me! Get away! I'm Mrs. Taylor! How dare you offend me?"
No one cared about Daniel, let alone Mrs. Taylor.
Daniel was also furious. It was the first time he had suffered such humiliation.
He recalled Michael's words. It was only after that man said "noisy" that they were thrown out.
Could that man really be someone important?
It couldn't be.
The man's clothes were very ordinary, and he didn't look wealthy. The car he drove was an old model worth only a few thousand dollars, probably a second-hand car.
Who was this man, and why did Michael listen to him so obediently?
Emily was thrown at the entrance by the security guards, scraping her hand on the ground. She stomped her foot in anger, "Daniel, how could they treat us like this? It hurts!"
Daniel was also full of anger and felt humiliated. He shouted, "Shut up! Do you want to embarrass us even more?"
Emily was on the verge of tears. She looked at Aurora standing inside, filled with jealousy and rage, "You little bitch, it's all your fault."
Aurora laughed, "I told you to be humble. Now look, you're the one being thrown out. Just beg me, and maybe I'll let you in if I'm feeling satisfied. It's so embarrassing to be seen by acquaintances out here."
Aurora almost repeated Emily's words back to her.
Emily was furious and wanted to lash out, but Daniel pulled her, "Are you still not leaving? Do you want to stay and be even more humiliated?"
Seeing Emily and Daniel leave in such a sorry state, Aurora felt immensely satisfied.
"Mr. Lewis, this way, please." Michael respectfully led the way.
Aurora was very puzzled and whispered, "What's going on? Isn't the place reserved? How are we allowed in? Do you come here often?"
If not, how would Michael recognize John?
John calmly replied, "I've been here a few times with Todd. I'm somewhat familiar with Manager Nelson."
Aurora then understood.
"Is Mr. Smith the one who reserved the place today?" Aurora realized. No wonder John was so confident earlier.
When Michael mentioned Mr. Smith, she didn't realize which Mr. Smith it was.
John said, "Mr. Smith is wealthy."
The entire Villa Kitchen was very quiet. Usually, it only served fifty guests a day. With the place reserved today, it was even quieter.
Aurora followed John inside, and Todd was already waiting.
"Boss, Miss White," Todd greeted with a wave.
"Mr. Smith."
Aurora only knew Todd was John's friend but didn't realize Todd was such a big spender to reserve the entire place.
"Mr. Smith, Mr. Lewis, Miss White, please enjoy your meal!" Michael was very tactful and didn't disturb their meal. He led his staff away, and even the waiters stood ten steps away.
