Chapter 17: The Secret is Out

Her lips met softness.

Her mouth was filled with sweetness, the candy slowly melting, and Aurora felt like every cell in her body was soaking in honey.

That kiss made both their hearts skip a beat.

Aurora's face quickly turned red, her body feeling a rush of heat.

Finding it hard to endure, John let go of her, his voice husky, "I really want to make love with you."

If they weren't in a hospital, and Aurora hadn't just recovered from a fever, John would have wanted to get intimate with her.

John prided himself on his strong self-control, but with Aurora, he had none.

Aurora had no doubt about John's words.

She had thought that night they were really together, so she hadn't resisted their continued intimacy.

Aurora was shy about John's explicit words, but also touched by his restraint.

Seeing him struggle to control himself, Aurora suddenly smiled provocatively, pinching John's chin, "Who's afraid of who?"

Saying that, Aurora took the initiative to hook her arms around his neck, her hands touching his body.

Aurora was surprised by her own boldness.

But at this moment, she felt sorry for him suppressing his desires.

John was stunned, a surge of joy welling up inside him, he murmured emotionally, "Aurora."

"Stop talking." Aurora buried herself in his arms, "I might change my mind in a bit."

John smiled, kissed Aurora's forehead, but didn't continue, "I'll owe you this time. I'll satisfy you another day."

Aurora had just recovered from a fever. He was afraid she couldn't handle it.

Aurora's face turned even redder. His words made her seem extremely eager.

"Boss, I..."

Todd hurried in, seeing the scene in the room, and quickly covered his eyes, "I didn't see anything. You guys continue."

Todd quickly backed out, closing the door behind him and patting his chest. That was close, and luckily he moved fast.

John got up from Aurora, calmly tidying his clothes, "You rest for a bit."

"Uh!" Aurora pulled the blanket over her head, utterly embarrassed.

Luckily, they hadn't done anything; otherwise, being caught would have been mortifying.

John glanced at Aurora hiding under the blanket, smiled, and walked out.

Todd was waiting in the hallway, seeing John come out so quickly, he was very surprised, "Boss, done so soon?"

'No way, is Boss that weak in bed?' Todd thought.

John gave him a cold look, and Todd immediately shut his mouth.

"What's up?"

"Mr. Lewis wants you to go back. He probably knows about last night."

"Got it." John showed no emotion.

The commotion he caused last night couldn't have been hidden from Mr. Lewis.

Now that Aurora's fever had subsided, he had to go back and explain to the old man.

John said he had something to do, asking Aurora to stay in the hospital until he returned.

Still worried, John left Todd behind.

Aurora's phone had been thrown away by the kidnappers, so John had Todd buy a new one for her.

Aurora immediately called Dean, "Just letting you know, I won't let Nicole off this time. She and I are on opposing sides now."

After saying that, Aurora hung up.

She was just informing Dean.

This kidnapping definitely had something to do with Nicole.

Earlier, she hadn't questioned John about the kidnappers because she didn't want to involve him.

John was just a rideshare driver. How could he contend with Nicole? This was her grudge with Nicole, so she would handle it herself.

The White Family Corporation.

Dean stared at the phone for a long time before shaking off his reverie and returning to his senses. He didn't know what Nicole had done again, and right now he was overwhelmed with the company's financial issues.

Aurora felt fine, so she got up and walked around the hospital.

The entire floor was very quiet, with no one in the other wards.

Aurora was strolling in the hallway when Todd came back from outside, "Miss White, are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?"

"No, thank you." Aurora had no appetite and didn't want to trouble anyone, "Mr. Smith, how long have you known John?"

She knew very little about John, so she wanted to find out from Todd.

Todd answered smoothly, "I really can't remember how long, but it's been quite a while. The boss is a good person, Miss White, and being with him is definitely the right choice."

Aurora replied, "He is indeed very good."

So far, Aurora couldn't find a single flaw in John, "By the way, Mr. Smith, why do you call John 'boss'?"

Todd lied with a straight face, "He's the eldest in his family, so everyone calls him that."

"Does John have siblings?" Aurora was puzzled, "But he told me he has no siblings."

Todd's heart skipped a beat.

He didn't expect that.

John indeed had no full siblings, but he had plenty of half-siblings, all ambitious.

Todd quickly responded with a smile, "I meant cousins."

"Oh, I see!"

Todd quickly changed the subject, "Miss White, how about I go out and buy you some food? You've just recovered from a fever. I'll get you some light soup."

If she kept asking, Todd might slip up.

"Thank you, Mr. Smith." Aurora didn't refuse anymore.

Aurora was bored in the hospital when Sophia called, and upon learning she was hospitalized, Sophia came over in less than half an hour.

"Aurora, what happened? We just parted yesterday, and now you're in the hospital."

Aurora smiled, "If it weren't for my luck, you might not have seen me again."

Sophia asked urgently, "What happened?"

Aurora had nothing to hide from Sophia, so she briefly explained what happened last night.

Sophia listened, her heart pounding and filled with anger, "Was it really Nicole? She even resorted to kidnapping. How vicious. Aurora, are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Aurora sneered, "Nicole has sent me one 'big gift' after another. I must return the favor, tit for tat."

"If you need any help, just say the word." Sophia was very loyal, "I've long disliked your stepmother."

"Alright, I will need your help then." Aurora already had a plan in mind.

Just then, Aurora's phone rang. It was Dean calling.

Aurora hung up directly, but Dean called again.

Aurora answered, her tone cold, "What is it?"

"I'm downstairs at your company. Come down." Dean's tone was also cold, with a hint of command, devoid of emotion.

Aurora was surprised that Dean had gone to her workplace, but his commanding tone made her very displeased.

"No time," Aurora coldly replied with two words.

"Your Aunt Clark personally called me to bring you back for lunch. Don't push your luck."

'Nicole asked me to come back for lunch? This must be a trap,' she thought.

"Not going," Aurora said and hung up.

After spending some time in the hospital, Sophia had to leave for something, and Aurora walked her to the entrance, coincidentally running into John returning from outside.

John immediately saw Aurora, got out of the car, and walked towards her, "Aurora, why are you out here?"

"Seeing a friend off. Let me introduce you. This is my best friend, Sophia." Aurora introduced, "Sophia, this is my boyfriend, John."

Sophia's eyes lit up when she saw John, her face filled with girlish fantasies, "Wow, so handsome!"

"Boyfriend? John?" Sophia realized, "When did you get a boyfriend? John? Are you John Lewis? Oh my god, isn't it rumored that you're disfigured and crippled? How are you so handsome?"

Aurora laughed and explained, "This isn't Mr. Lewis, just the same name. Look at him, besides the name, how is he like Mr. Lewis?"

John stood with a smile on his face, next to Aurora.

Sophia looked closely again, then awkwardly laughed, "Right, you scared me. Aurora, I thought you were really with that short-lived Mr. Lewis, good thing you're not."

Short-lived?

John felt helpless at Sophia's words.

But since she was Aurora's friend, John smiled warmly and said, "Just the same name. Thank you for visiting Aurora. When she gets out of the hospital, let's have a meal together."

"Sure, I won't be polite then. I'll remember this meal." Sophia smiled and whispered to Aurora, "This boyfriend is nice, knows how to handle things and has a good temper. I'll interrogate you later on how you met him."

Aurora glanced at John and smiled, "Sophia, didn't you have something to do?"

Reminded, Sophia remembered, "Right, I have to go. See you later."

After Sophia left, Aurora and John returned to the ward, just as the nurse said the test results were out.

Hearing the test results were out, Aurora couldn't help but worry.

She had given birth before. If something showed up in the results, and John found out, would he still want her?

Aurora wanted to stop John, but before she could speak, John said, "Aurora, you go back to the ward first. I'll get the report."

"John!"

Before Aurora could finish, John had already headed to the doctor's office.

John was gone for about ten minutes, during which Aurora was on edge, her palms sweating.

When she was with Daniel, she had worried about this secret being discovered, but never felt as terrified as she did today.

She was afraid of losing John.

Thinking about it, even Aurora found it incredible.

She had been with John for less than a month, but she was already used to him, even afraid of losing him.

Aurora paced around the ward, and just as she was about to go look for John, she bumped into Todd coming back from outside.

"Miss White, where are you going?" Todd was very observant, "You don't look well."

"I'm going to the bathroom." Aurora lied, "My stomach feels a bit uncomfortable."

She tried to cover it up.

One lie leads to countless others to cover it up.

Like a snowball, it keeps getting bigger.

With Todd around, Aurora had to go to the bathroom, and looking at herself in the mirror, she indeed didn't look well.

Aurora took a deep breath, preparing herself mentally.

If John found out she had a child and couldn't accept it, she would let him go.

Aurora stayed in the bathroom for a while, thinking of what to say. When she nervously returned to the ward, she saw John was back, packing things.

Aurora's heart sank. 'Looks like he's already found out and is packing to break up with me, right?' she thought.
