Chapter 421 Creating Conditions for Having a Daughter
Leo's persistence was something to be admired.
Sophia had a fiery personality, and Leo's lack of emotional intelligence made things difficult.
Leo shot Aurora a look. "Aurora, you have the nerve to laugh. Last time you convinced me to buy hemostatic medicine, and Sophia ignored me for a month."
Sophia had her period, and Leo bought hemostatic medicine. His thought process was truly something else.
What could Aurora say?
John handed Aurora a piece of rib and said to Leo, "I suggest you learn from Todd. He's got experience in chasing women."
Aurora glanced at John. Todd had experience in chasing women?
Thinking it over, Aurora realized Todd did have some tricks. He played dumb and tricked Lori, winning her over.
Although there hadn't been any formal progress, there had been substantial progress.
Leo was thrilled and grateful, dropping his knife and fork to shake John's hand excitedly. "John, you're the best. Please help me get in touch with Todd."
Leo didn't have a personal relationship with Todd, so it would be too abrupt to ask him for advice out of the blue.
"No problem."
Leo was delighted, eagerly serving John food and water, being particularly attentive.
Kevin didn't say much. If his son could really get in good with John and Todd, that would be a real asset.
John and Aurora left the Robinson Villa after dinner, and it was already ten o'clock at night.
John drove, leaving Aurora's car at the Robinson Villa for the time being.
Aurora brought the sunflowers Karolyn had given her into John's car. "Let's go home. I miss our son."
"These flowers are nice," John said, glancing at them and casually complimenting them.
"These were given to me by the pregnant woman I bumped into before. She works at a flower shop," Aurora said. "She's quite pitiful. Her family is gone, her husband cheated on her, and she's living alone in Silvercrest City while pregnant. She said she envies me for having a good husband."
As she spoke, Aurora wrapped her arm around John's and rested her head on his shoulder.
John's eyes and face were full of smiles, but he said seriously, "I'm driving. Sit properly and don't distract the driver."
Aurora laughed, pinching his waist. "Pretending to be serious, huh?"
"Aurora," John asked seriously, "is today your ovulation day?"
"What?" Aurora was taken aback, then quickly understood John's intention and let go of his hand.
John smiled, stepped on the gas, and sped back to the Lewis Villa.
As soon as they got home, Aurora, holding the sunflowers, tried to sneak into the nursery. "I'm going to check on the kids."
John scooped her up. "Aurora, I think we should focus on making a baby first."
Aurora blushed and stayed silent.
With so many servants watching, John carried Aurora upstairs to the bedroom, looking as eager as an eighteen-year-old.
Before entering the room, John instructed the servants, "Take good care of Trey and Jax."
"Yes, Mr. Lewis," the servants replied, covering their mouths to hide their smiles.
Aurora's face turned even redder.
Lately, John had been very dedicated to their baby-making plan.
To have a daughter, John had even found some folk remedies and plastered the bedroom walls with posters of baby girls.
Aurora found it both amusing and heartwarming.
She hoped their days could always be this simple and happy.
Trey and Jax would grow up, Summer and Loren would succeed in their studies on the island, Lloyd would recuperate at Peach Blossom Mountain, and their relationship would remain harmonious. That was Aurora's greatest wish.
Since returning from Ironclad Union, Aurora hadn't heard from Jack, but she did run into Emily while taking the kids for their regular check-ups at the hospital.
Emily was there with her daughter for vaccinations. Aurora and Wendy were each pushing a stroller when they encountered Emily in the hallway.
Emily didn't recognize Wendy. It had been a while since she'd seen Aurora, and seeing Aurora's fulfilled life while she was a divorced single mom made her feel unbalanced.
When people felt unbalanced, they tended to lash out verbally.
"Long time no see. I thought you might have gotten into trouble again," Emily said, glancing at the babies in the strollers. "They don't look anything like John."
Aurora sneered. "Your mouth is asking for a beating. Want to learn a lesson again?"
"Just joking. Can't you take a joke?" Emily said with a smug expression. "You sure are lucky, but you've made plenty of enemies, turning yourself into a wanted criminal. That's quite a skill."
Emily held her daughter, feeling envious and jealous, but her words were sharp and bitter.
In Emily's mind, Aurora had stolen everything from her. Sometimes she could accept it, but other times she couldn't.
If she had married John, she would now be the admired Mrs. John.
Wendy frowned, about to speak, but Aurora calmly retorted, "How's Aunt Nicole doing in prison? It's been almost two years. Has she learned her lesson?"
Nicole had taken the fall for Emily.
"You..." Emily's face turned red. She felt guilty about Nicole, who was her mother. She had shirked responsibility back then without hesitation.
Aurora glanced at the child in Emily's arms. "For the sake of your child, I suggest you be a decent person. Competing with me is pointless."
Emily blurted out, "I should have been the one to marry John. You're just a thief who stole everything from me."
Aurora found it amusing. What kind of logic was that?
As they were talking, a familiar voice came.
"Daniel, look how much our daughter looks like you. She's so cute."
It was Amelia's voice.
Today was quite the day. Everyone seemed to be bringing their kids to the hospital.
Daniel was with Amelia, bringing their child for a check-up. They had just come out of the doctor's office and ran into everyone in the hallway, surprised.
What a coincidence.
Daniel felt the most conflicted, with his current wife, ex-wife, and ex-girlfriend all present.
Daniel's gaze first fell on Aurora, and he couldn't help but smile.
For a man, the first love was the hardest to forget.
Emily noticed Daniel's gaze and stepped in front of Aurora, blocking his view. "Daniel, what a coincidence. Since we're here, why don't you give me this month's child support?"
Did Emily really need that child support? She didn't.
But she wanted to make Daniel and Amelia uncomfortable.
Sure enough, Amelia was immediately displeased. "Why should my husband pay child support for your daughter?"
"Don't want to admit it? Fine, let's do a paternity test, go to the media, make a big deal out of it, and go to court. Let's see what the court decides."
Aurora was surprised. Emily's brain had suddenly become sharp.
Indeed, when not blinded by love, no woman is truly stupid.
Amelia got angry. "Emily, don't threaten me. You shamelessly seduced my husband, and now you want to extort child support? Do you think I'm easy to bully?"
"It takes two to tango." Emily looked at Daniel with endless sadness, but spoke maliciously. "By the way, I saw your husband leaving Skyview Haven Hotel with a young model last night. Can you stop him from cheating?"
Amelia exploded. "Daniel, explain this. You said you were working late last night."
Daniel lied. "I was working late. Don't listen to that crazy woman, Emily..."
Aurora couldn't be bothered with their drama and pushed the stroller towards the elevator with Wendy.
Suddenly, she thought she saw a familiar face.
Aurora's heart skipped a beat. Rex?
