Chapter 195 Aurora Ran Away from Home
Todd's idea might've been a bit shady, but John had to admit, it kinda made sense. But now, it was too late to do anything about it.
Aurora was just too fiery.
John didn't even get a chance to plead for a lighter sentence; she went straight to sentencing him to death.
John had planned to go along with Aurora's temper, adjust his attitude, and then slowly explain to seek forgiveness. But reality hit hard. Aurora gave him a chance to explain, but not to be forgiven.
Aurora vanished completely, and even with Nightfall's resources, John couldn't find her.
He checked every exit in Silver Crest City, but no sign of Aurora leaving.
He checked all the flights at the airport, but nothing.
He even checked the docks, but still no sign.
She couldn't have flown or disappeared into thin air; she was simply gone without a trace.
The car Aurora drove that night was found in the suburbs, with her phone inside, but still no sign of her.
Todd said, "Boss, could it be that Ms. White..."
"Could it be what?" John was out of ideas.
Todd said, "Turned into a butterfly and flew away."
John was furious, "Todd, are you asking for a beating?"
"Boss, I'm serious. We've checked all the possible ways she could've left—planes, cars, boats—and found nothing. She must've turned into a butterfly and flown away."
John gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to slap Todd. So unreliable.
"Keep looking for her," John ordered.
John's search for Aurora reached Jennifer's ears.
Sandra was also surprised when she found out. "Jennifer, did John really break up with Aurora? That's good news."
But Jennifer didn't think so. "Aurora's disappeared now, and he's so anxious. Clearly, Aurora holds an irreplaceable place in his heart."
"Jennifer, you don't need to replace Aurora. John was yours to begin with. What is Aurora compared to you? If you hadn't been away for these years, how could it have been Aurora's turn? If you ask me, Aurora is the substitute." Sandra said venomously, "Aurora's gone now, Jennifer. Why not take this chance to make sure she never comes back?"
"No, John would definitely know it was me." Recalling the scene of John kicking her out of the Meadow Brook villa, Jennifer couldn't help but shudder.
Sandra pressed on, "This time, Aurora ran away on her own. And the person you sent to impersonate you and kill her has already been caught. Who would think that you are the Fox of The Shadow of Darkness organization?"
Sandra sneered and continued, "You've seen John's attitude. If Aurora comes back, you might never have another chance, Jennifer. You only have less than two years left. Do you really want to regret it for the rest of your life?"
Jennifer wavered. Thinking of John's resolute attitude and her own limited time, she was unwilling to give up.
She clenched her fists. "If I can't have him, no one can."
"Right, Jennifer. This is all Aurora's fault. She deserves to be punished." Sandra egged her on.
John had angered Aurora and driven her away, making Loren very displeased with John.
"Loren, try contacting your mommy again." John was at his wit's end and could only ask Loren for help.
Loren turned his head to the side. "Hmph, you made the mess, you clean it up. I'm not helping."
John was very helpless.
He said, "Loren, your mommy is pregnant with your sister. Don't you want a sister? Your mommy left without even taking you. Don't you miss her? Aren't you worried about her?"
"Mommy would never abandon me. Mommy doesn't want Uncle John." Loren snapped back, so angry he blurted out, "Mommy called me. She said she'd come get me once she's settled."
Realizing he had slipped, Loren quickly covered his mouth.
John smiled like a cunning old fox. "Loren, tell me, where did your mommy go?"
He knew Aurora couldn't let go of Loren and would definitely contact him. Since Aurora had contacted Loren, it meant she was safe.
John felt a slight sense of relief.
"I don't know." Loren tried his best to keep his face stern. "Uncle John, don't try to trick me. I promised mommy I wouldn't tell. I won't betray her."
"Loren, I'm not asking you to betray your mommy. She's angry right now, and her health isn't good. What if something happens to her?" John gently persuaded, "Uncle John is sorry for what I did, but shouldn't I get a chance to make it right?"
Loren stayed silent, refusing to reveal Aurora's whereabouts no matter what John said.
John sighed, "Loren, I promise you, I just want to know if your mommy is safe. I won't go looking for her or disturb her, and I won't betray you."
"Uncle John, I really don't know where mommy is. She just called and didn't say where she went." Loren sighed, speaking with a tone beyond his age, "You adults are so complicated."
It seemed Loren really didn't know.
However, John's brows furrowed. "Loren, actually, it's not that I really need to know where your mommy is, I'm just worried about her. She left in a fit of anger without any money. What will she eat? Where will she stay? She's pregnant. What if she gets cold or hungry? What if she faints somewhere and no one helps her?"
Loren said, "Auntie will take care of mommy."
Loren blurted out again. After realizing he had been tricked, he got up to walk inside. "I'm not talking to you anymore."
John smiled.
The only person Loren would call "Auntie" was Lori.
He should have thought of it earlier; Aurora had gone to Wolfpack.
Loren huffed and walked inside, then peeked out the window. Seeing John leave in a hurry, he felt relieved.
Loren actually said those words on purpose. He was also worried about his mommy.
Thousands of miles away in a luxury store, Aurora was on a shopping spree.
"This one, this one, and this one, wrap them all up for me."
The sales associate was overjoyed to have such a big customer.
"Ms. White, I'll wrap them up for you right away. Is there anything else you need? We have some new Hermès bags in stock."
Aurora was very generous. "No need to look, wrap them all up. Charge it."
"Alright."
Lori, standing nearby, was dumbfounded, "Aurora, are you venting your anger with money?"
So far, Aurora had spent millions on clothes, and now with a few more bags, another million was gone.
"A woman should never treat herself poorly." Aurora swiped her card with flair. "Let's go get a spa."
"Aurora, you traveled thousands of miles to find me, and you didn't even bring Loren. Now you're dragging me out shopping. What happened?" Lori was quite puzzled.
Aurora had called her yesterday in the middle of the night, asking her to pick her up with a helicopter.
Lori was still sleepy now, but Aurora was full of energy.
Aurora smiled. "What could happen, Lori? Congratulate me on being single again. Long live Freedom."
Lori exclaimed, "John dumped you?"
"Watch your words." Aurora corrected, "It's me. I dumped him."
