Chapter 208 Helen remembered that Loren and Summer were John's sons.
The person holding a knife to Aurora's throat was a woman in a Fox mask. John had said the Fox from The Shadow of Darkness was taken care of, so what was one doing here?
Sandra, behind the mask, sneered, "Anyone from The Shadow of Darkness can become Fox."
Aurora got it. Fox was just a codename.
If one Fox was gone, another could take their place, or there could be dozens or hundreds of them.
And the Fox John dealt with last time might not have been the first one who wanted her dead. With the mask on, who knew how many times the person behind it had changed?
Right now, Aurora had no clue who was behind this mask. She took a deep breath and said, "I have no beef with The Shadow of Darkness, so why are you so obsessed with me?"
"You messed with someone you shouldn't have, so you gotta go."
The words sounded familiar.
The first time Aurora ran into a Fox from The Shadow of Darkness, that Fox had said the same thing. But the voice was different. And the height was different too.
Aurora was sure this woman wasn't the same one who tried to kill her the first time. But saying the same words with such jealousy and hate made her curious.
"Are you into John too?" Aurora asked.
Sandra spat, "He doesn't belong to you, and you don't deserve to be with him."
"Then let me go. We broke up, and he's got someone new." Aurora kept her face calm, but inside she was plotting her escape.
"Aurora, I know what you're thinking. Don't even try to run, or you won't live to see tomorrow." Sandra pressed the knife harder against Aurora's neck, drawing blood.
Aurora winced and sneered, "You know me so well? Are we that close? All this over John? That's a bit much."
"Don't try to trick me, Aurora. You'll never get how important John is to me. He's my everything." Sandra's voice was filled with crazy devotion.
Aurora sighed, "Making a man your everything is pretty sad. If you want him, take him. He's just a guy. I won't fight you for him."
"You don't love John?" Sandra was shocked, seeing Aurora's indifferent face. "Are you saying this because you're scared of dying?"
"Of course, who isn't scared of dying? Compared to John, I love myself more." Aurora smirked, "If I'm dead, what's the point of love?"
Sandra's anger flared. "I knew you were heartless. You don't deserve him."
Just then, Aurora suddenly looked to the side and shouted, "John."
Sandra fell for it and turned to look. Aurora took the chance to knock the knife out of Sandra's hand and pulled off her mask.
Sandra tried to cover her face, but it was too late. Under the streetlight, Aurora saw Sandra's face clearly.
"Sandra? It's you?" Aurora was shocked. "You're with The Shadow of Darkness?"
Sandra also had the last name Johnson, and with previous suspicions, Aurora suddenly understood. "You and your sister are both with The Shadow of Darkness. What's your deal with Alexander?"
Sandra didn't bother hiding anymore, "I'm Alexander's daughter. Aurora, you can't escape this time. My dad wants us to bring you and John to the Johnson family."
Aurora quickly realized who Sandra meant by "us." She turned around and saw four men in black appear out of nowhere. Escape was impossible.
In the past, she might have taken a chance, but now that she was pregnant, she didn't dare risk it. She had no choice but to stop resisting.
"Aurora."
After dealing with the five people in the house, John came out and saw Aurora being taken into a car, with Sandra standing by the door.
Sandra smiled sweetly. "John, hop in. My dad wants to have a chat."
John wasn't shocked at all that Sandra was part of The Shadow of Darkness, and he didn't really care. He glanced at Aurora in the car and decided not to resist either.
They both got their eyes covered with black cloth, hands and feet tied, and were tossed into the car. As the car bumped along, Aurora leaned against John's chest to make it a bit more bearable.
Aurora asked, "Do you know where they're taking us?"
"The Shadow of Darkness HQ isn't here. I found out they have a branch here, but I don't know exactly where."
"You Nightfall guys aren't that great, huh?" Aurora grumbled. "John, this is the second time you've dragged me into trouble. It's all your fault for attracting women. One's bad enough, but both sisters?"
John almost laughed. "Aurora, a handsome, charming, rich, and powerful guy like me attracting just one or two women is actually weird. It should be a whole crowd."
Aurora snapped, "John, your knee doesn't hurt now, does it?" She elbowed his knee.
"Aurora, it hurts," John said, pretending to be in pain but with a loving smile. "No matter what crazy demands Alexander makes, as long as you and our daughter are safe, I'll agree to them."
"That's too undignified. What if he asks you to marry those two sisters?" Aurora retorted, "Would you really marry them?"
"That's impossible. In this lifetime, my wife will only be you."
They leaned against each other, and John gently rubbed his chin on the top of Aurora's head, saying, "Aurora, please forgive me," he whispered.
Aurora responded without hesitation, "That depends on your performance. But based on your current performance, you're far from passing."
John chuckled, "We have a long time ahead of us." Aurora finally relented, making John feel a sense of relief.
The car kept driving through the night.
Meanwhile, at Silvercrest City Hospital.
Helen's eyelids were twitching badly, and she couldn't sleep. She called John, but his phone was off.
Feeling uneasy, Helen got out of bed to walk in the hallway.
Since John left Silvercrest City, Jennifer had been handling things at the hospital. Tonight, Jennifer was nowhere to be found.
Helen searched the hospital and was about to head back to her room when she saw Jennifer heading towards the fire escape.
"Jennifer," Helen called out.
Jennifer didn't hear her; she was on the phone.
Helen followed and overheard Jennifer saying, "Aurora and John have been captured? I told you, don't harm a hair on John's head. Release him immediately. Dad, I don't care what your plan is, you can't hurt John. I already helped you once before, almost got John killed, and caused Nightfall significant losses. This time, it's absolutely not allowed. You killed John's father back then..."
Hearing Jennifer's words, Helen was shocked and accidentally knocked over a trash can, making a noise that alerted Jennifer.
"Who's there?" Jennifer shouted. When she saw it was Helen, she felt guilty. "Helen, what are you doing here?"
"What did you mean by those words? Is my son in trouble? Was my husband's car accident your doing? Was it you?" Helen didn't understand everything, but she caught the part about John being captured.
"Helen, you misheard. Let me help you back to your room to rest," Jennifer denied immediately.
"If you don't explain, I'll call my son." As Helen said this, she pulled out her phone and acted like she was about to call John.
Jennifer panicked. She reached out and grabbed the phone, shouting, "You can't call him."
"Give me back my phone," Helen demanded, reaching for it.
In their struggle, Helen cried out for help. Jennifer, in a panic, grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher and struck Helen on the head.
As Helen fell to the ground, she looked at Jennifer and seemed to see Emily, the one who had harmed her before. The scene overlapped with the past.
Many fragmented memories flashed through her mind, finally settling on the image of Emily taking the paternity test report for John and the two children.
She remembered everything.
