Chapter 76 Aurora Takes Emily to the Police Station
Aurora disappeared from sight, and Emily felt that something was amiss. She got out of the car to take a closer look.
As soon as she got out, two men rushed forward from behind. One covered her mouth while the other grabbed her legs, using the same method they had used to drag Mark away earlier.
The two men lifted Emily and quickly headed deeper into the woods.
Meanwhile, Aurora's car had stopped deep in the woods. Mark was kicked out of the car and then quickly tied to a tree by the people Aurora had brought.
There was no one around, so even if Mark screamed his lungs out, no one would hear him.
Aurora got out of the car languidly. She had to thank Emily for choosing such a perfect location.
Mark glanced at the two men on either side of him, terrified by the situation he had found himself in. "Miss White, I was wrong. Please let me go."
Aurora smirked coldly, walked up to Mark, and searched his pockets for cash. "Fifty thousand dollars? Is that all that Emily gave you?"
"Miss White, I took the job because I needed the money. Besides, I didn't really do anything to you, did I? Please find it in your heart to let me go," Mark pleaded with a forced smile.
"Do you think I would let go of a man who violated me five years ago?" Aurora stared coldly at Mark, her eyes filled with hatred. "I wish I could kill you right now. Do you really think I had Emily find you just to look for that child?"
Mark realized what was happening and looked at Aurora with fear. "You want revenge?"
Aurora's eyes were sharp as she looked at Mark. "Emily brought you out herself, saving me the trouble. Why wouldn't I take advantage of that? Do you know what I wanted to do most when I woke up back then?"
Aurora casually played with the knife in her hand. The call from Emily had reignited the hatred she felt five years ago.
Aurora had called Kevin to send over four men to back her up. Tonight, she would seek justice for herself.
"Miss White, spare me. Please let me go. I don't want the money anymore. It was your sister who wanted to harm you. It has nothing to do with me," Mark struggled, but his hands and feet were bound tightly, and he couldn't break free.
Mark deeply regretted his actions. It was his greed that had led him to agree to do this for Emily.
Now the tables had turned and he was in Aurora's hands. Escaping would be difficult.
"Let you go so you can help Emily harm others again?" Aurora grabbed Mark's chin, a flash of murderous intent in her eyes. "Just looking at you makes me sick. You helped Emily ruin me. You're an accomplice. I want to kill you right now."
The knife in Aurora's hand glinted coldly in the night.
Mark was so scared he almost wet his pants. "Miss White, calm down. I never touched you back then. I only said I did to fool Emily."
"So you had the audacity to violate me but not the courage to own up to it? How pathetic," Aurora said angrily, "You just admitted it yourself. Do you think I would believe you now?"
"I'm telling the truth," Mark explained urgently, "I took the money back then, but when I went to the room, no one was there. I swear, I never touched you. I swear I'm telling the truth."
Back then, Emily had drugged Aurora, and Mark had been waiting nearby. He had indeed been tempted by Aurora's beauty and waited until she was drugged and sent back to her room.
Mark received a message from Emily to go to room 806, but no one was there. He later found out that the last numeral of the room number had turned, causing him to go to room 809 by mistake.
The 9 had turned into a 6, which Mark couldn't have anticipated.
Having taken the money but not completed the task, Mark had initially wanted to tell Emily about it. But Emily called to say the job was done and even sent him the remaining payment, so he never brought it ip.
Mark's story sounded plausible, but Aurora had indeed been violated back then.
Aurora didn't believe him and thought Mark was lying to shirk responsibility.
Aurora released Mark. "It's not impossible for me to spare you."
"Really?" Mark was overjoyed. "Miss White, you're so kind-hearted. Please untie me quickly."
"In a bit," Aurora said. "There are conditions for letting you go. You have to confess everything about how Emily set me up and bribed you back then, without leaving out a single detail. Then I'll let you go."
Mark hesitated, feeling helpless. "Miss White, I really didn't touch you back then."
If he confessed, he would end up in jail.
"I've always been at odds with Emily. She's tried to harm me multiple times. This time, I'm just retaliating. As long as you testify against Emily, I'll let you go. You said you didn't do it, so you won't be guilty of a crime. What are you afraid of?" Aurora reasoned.
Mark hadn't committed the assault but was still guilty of being part of a plot to commit one, which carried legal consequences.
As a thug, Mark didn't really understand the law. He believed that if he hadn't done it, he wouldn't be guilty. He decided to push all the blame onto Emily.
Mark agreed immediately. "Okay, okay, I'll talk. Miss White, you have to keep your word. This really has nothing to do with me."
"Record everything he says," Aurora said to the men she had brought.
The voice recorder was ready, and to save his life, Mark confessed everything about what transpired all those years ago.
However, Mark kept emphasizing that he hadn't violated Aurora and that the drugging was Emily's doing, not his.
Aurora stood by, listening, reliving the pain from five years ago.
The agony of that night was vivid in her memory. Whenever she thought of it, anger and pain surged like a tide, overwhelming her.
The helplessness and confusion of that night were all caused by Emily and the man in front of her.
Hatred made her whole body tremble. Her palms were cold.
After Mark's confession had been recorded, Aurora opened her eyes, her gaze icy.
"Which orphanage was the child left at?"
"Miss White, I really don't know about any child. I was just making things up earlier to save my own ass," Mark was almost in tears. His loose tongue had brought disaster upon him.
Aurora saw that Mark wouldn't admit it and was full of lies. Her face turned grim. "Think carefully before you speak."
"I really don't know. How would I know whose child you were carrying? I'm truly innocent. I didn't get anything out of this and ended up in trouble," Mark explained anxiously. "I don't know where the child is. Miss White. Please let me go."
The bodyguard asked, "Miss White, what should we do with this man?"
"Destroy his reproductive organs, then send him to the police station along with Emily." Aurora stabbed the knife into the tree trunk beside her. This time, she wouldn't be soft-hearted.
Since she couldn't get any information, there was no need to waste words.
Regardless of whether the man was telling the truth, if Aurora hadn't brought people tonight, she would have been in danger.
Such a man was a menace if left alive and unharmed.
Since he had no qualms about committing the crime of rape, she would destroy his "tools."
The knife made a sharp sound as it pierced the tree trunk, making Mark's legs go weak. "Miss White, you can't go back on your word. You promised to let me go. I really didn't violate you back then. I admit that I intended to, but I never followed through with it."
Mark finally realized that he had fallen into Aurora's trap.
Aurora had never intended to let him go.
She had just been trying to get him to confess.
"Miss White, spare me, spare me... Ah..."
Aurora turned her back. The bodyguard raised the knife, and Mark fainted with a scream.
"Miss White, we've brought the other person you wanted."
The two men who had been holding Emily brought her over.
Emily saw Mark tied to the tree and the pool of blood under his crotch, and her face turned pale with fear.
