Chapter 84 Might Not Be Dead
Sandra was crying her heart out, and with that beautiful face of hers, any man would feel a pang of sympathy.
She was genuinely heartbroken; it was the first time John had ever yelled at her.
Seeing Sandra so upset, Lucas couldn't help but plead with John, "Bro, Sandra knows she messed up. Jennifer only has this one sister. For Jennifer's sake, let it slide this time. I've already given Sandra a talking-to."
John slammed the desk, his voice cold and sharp, his eyes like daggers, "Get out."
Sandra instinctively shivered at the sound, her face going pale.
Lucas glanced at Sandra, pursed his lips, and said, "Yes."
As soon as Lucas left, Sandra panicked and called out urgently, "Lucas..."
With Lucas around, he could at least say a few words to plead for her.
Sandra's voice couldn't stop Lucas from leaving. This time, the matter was indeed serious. Sandra showed no sign of remorse, full of lies, and deserved to be taught a lesson.
In the large office, only John and Sandra were left, the air full of tension.
John didn't speak, just sat in his chair, staring at Sandra with cold, sharp eyes.
Sandra felt a pang of guilt, "John!"
John lit a cigarette, smoking expressionlessly, "I do bear some responsibility for Jennifer's matter. Because of this, I've tried to make it up to you for my guilt towards her. I always thought you could learn some of Jennifer's gentleness and kindness, but I didn't expect your heart to be so malicious, damaging the brakes. Don't tell me it was just to teach Aurora a lesson."
This was clearly an attempt to kill.
Sandra hurriedly admitted her mistake, "John, I really didn't mean to harm Aurora. I just had a little argument with Linda and wanted to teach her a lesson. I didn't expect things to get so serious. John, I was wrong."
She absolutely couldn't admit it was aimed at Aurora.
"Sandra." John's eyes were cold, his anger palpable. "You should be grateful you're Jennifer's sister. Otherwise, you wouldn't be leaving here in one piece."
Sandra's heart trembled as she asked in disbelief, "John, are you saying you'd kill me for Aurora?"
John flicked the ash from his cigarette, his eyebrows coldly furrowed, "I've repaid my debt to Jennifer. Now, get back to the U.S. immediately. Without my permission, don't set foot on this land again."
John said this, then turned his chair, facing away from her.
Sandra's eyes reddened, tears falling in large drops, "I can leave, but I hope you don't forget, Jennifer died for you. It's been five years, and we haven't even found her body. You can never repay what you owe her. Forgetting her is betraying her."
With that, Sandra ran out of the office in tears.
John fell silent, recalling that five years ago, Wade had drugged him. When John's enemies came, Jennifer had led them away and never returned.
John closed his eyes heavily. As Sandra said, he could never repay what he owed Jennifer, nor would he have the chance to.
Lucas watched Sandra run out crying and immediately followed her.
"Sandra."
Sandra stopped, not giving Lucas a good look, "Are you satisfied now? John told me to get out of Silver Crest City and never come back."
"Sandra, I'm just here to give you some advice. Don't be too clever for your own good, thinking everyone else is a fool." Lucas put his hands in his pockets, his tone indifferent, "Jennifer took good care of me before, so I remember that favor. I didn't expose you just now, but John isn't clueless."
"So what if I was targeting Aurora? Compared to Jennifer, she's nothing." Sandra wiped her tears and said, "From the first moment I saw Aurora, I didn't like her. Jennifer loved John so much. John belongs to my sister; no one else should even think about it."
"And you?" Lucas's tone grew heavier, "Are you doing this for Jennifer, or because you've fallen for John?"
"I..." Sandra was at a loss for words, "I've always envied my sister's relationship with John. Jennifer never came back after saving John. But who can be sure she's really dead?"
Lucas's expression froze, "What do you mean?"
"I've been dreaming about my sister a lot lately. I think she might not be dead."
Lucas's face turned serious. If Jennifer wasn't dead, things could get even worse.
John's heart was already with Aurora. If something went wrong, it would be a headache.
But there had been no news for five years. If she had fallen into those people's hands, how could she still be alive?
Aurora finished her work and was ready to leave.
Afraid of being held back, Aurora grabbed her bag and left faster than a rabbit.
When John learned Aurora had left, his face turned grim.
And the news that John had called Sandra to the office quickly reached Wade's ears.
"Did John really scold Sandra and make her cry?"
The secretary nodded. "Yes, I saw it with my own eyes. Sandra ran out crying, and Lucas chased after her. I heard Mr. Lewis told Sandra to leave Silver Crest City."
"Do you know why?" Wade perked up.
"It seems to be about Aurora's car accident last time." The secretary asked, "Mr. Lewis, do you think John has feelings for Aurora? I asked around at the subsidiary, and it was Lucas who recommended Aurora to the headquarters. And Lucas is John's person. Could it be John's idea?"
Wade frowned, suddenly recalling that Aurora had almost married into The Lewis Family before.
The previous three who married into The Lewis Family had all died mysteriously.
Only Aurora had escaped the marriage at the last minute, and John hadn't pursued it.
Wade had disappeared for a while and then suddenly returned. He found out John had been in trouble, even Mr. Lewis was alarmed, and on the day John got into trouble, Aurora also had an accident.
How could there be such a coincidence?
Wade pondered for a while, then suddenly laughed. "John has hidden it well. After all these years, I've finally found his vulnerabilities."
On her way to the hospital to visit Jack, Aurora received a call from the police.
Emily was shouting in the detention center, demanding to see Aurora.
Aurora thought for a moment, then turned her car towards the police station.
Percy had personally gone to the police department and talked to Chief Perez, but he still couldn't get Emily out. He couldn't figure out who else was backing Aurora.
Percy's intuition told him that the person helping Aurora this time was the same one who had crippled his son's leg before.
Unable to bail Emily out, Percy had no choice but to go through the judicial process.
Emily, panicked and scared, demanded to see Aurora.
The police couldn't take it anymore and called Aurora.
Aurora stood outside the iron gate, looking indifferently at Emily, who was cowering in the corner.
"I heard you wanted to see me."
