Chapter 319: Go Harm Others

The tall, skinny man signed up, and sure enough, others followed suit.

Oren was dumbfounded.

He couldn't understand how a few casual words from John could sway people so easily.Shadow of Darkness organization and Nightfall are like oil and water. Joining Nightfall is like walking into a lion's den. Are you out of your minds? John is tricking you, luring you in just to take you down one by one."

Oren's words made everyone hesitate.

He was telling the truth. They had joined on a whim, but without future guarantees, following John seemed futile.

All eyes turned to John, seeking an explanation, a promise.

John's deep eyes narrowed as he made a solemn vow, "I swear on my honor, anyone who joins Nightfall, regardless of your past or any grudges you had with Nightfall, once you join, you are my family, no different from any other. But if anyone harbors ill intentions, I will not tolerate it."

Clear rewards and punishments.

Everyone exchanged glances. The tall, skinny man spoke up, "We all followed Mr. Johnson out here. Since he entrusted the ring to Mr. Lewis, his judgment must be right. We should trust Mr. Johnson."

Someone cautiously asked, "Mr. Lewis, did Mr. Johnson really give you that ring?"

The ring wasn't handed over by Alexander himself; it was given to Aurora, and since John and Aurora were a couple, giving it to Aurora was the same as giving it to John.

John nodded without hesitation, "Of course!"

"Mr. Lewis, we trust you. I'll sign up."

One by one, they signed up, leaving only four people who didn't join. These four were Oren's close confidants, not easily swayed by John.

Oren had brought over thirty people, and without a fight, he had almost went crazy.

Oren looked at the four people beside him, feeling an urge to bang his head against the wall.

John sat in a chair with his cane, radiating authority. His sharp eyes were fixed on Oren. "I told you earlier, I'm not alone. Do you still want to fight? If The Shadow of Darkness organization joins Nightfall, I will provide generous benefits without favoritism."

Oren thought John was even targeting him.

The people he brought were now standing behind John. Originally, John was alone, but now he was almost alone.

Only a fool would fight; it would be a death sentence.

"John, there aren't many people I admire in this life, but you're one of them. I'll let you off today. Until we meet again." Oren knew when to advance and retreat, which was just a way of backing down.

John didn't push further. The people behind him were from The Shadow of Darkness organization, and since they had just joined, he couldn't turn them against Oren.

John's target today wasn't Oren but Richard.

With Oren, it was just organizational competition; Richard was the real threat.

"Wait," John called out, "Mr. Schneider, if you want to keep your leadership in The Shadow of Darkness organization, you'd better hand over Richard and Sandra. Being with them is digging your own grave."

Handing over Richard might be possible, but handing over Sandra was out of the question.

Oren had gone to great lengths to get Sandra out; how could he send her back?

Oren said nothing and left with his remaining people.

Sam turned to John, "Mr. Lewis, you're just letting them go?"

John glanced at the people standing behind him, "We can't gang up on him, Sam. You and Tyler, take these people back and settle them in. Make sure they get all the benefits I promised. If you need money, talk to Todd."

Sam and Tyler were instantly in awe of John.

Need money? Go to Todd.

No problem.

After everyone left, John called Aurora to let her know he was safe, "Aurora, it's calm tonight. The fish didn't bite."

"Then stay on the mountain for a few more days," Aurora replied, sounding irritated. "Lori's emotions are all over the place.. She almost broke into the prison tonight. By the way, Ava has been transferred. Find out where she was moved."

"Transferred?" John frowned. "Looks like things are more serious than we thought."

"Anyway, if we don't rescue Ava, Lori won't give up."

"Keep an eye on her. I'll find out where Ava was moved."

"Lori is with Todd. She won't come back with me, saying she's afraid of implicating me and wants to trouble Todd instead." Aurora chuckled at Lori's words when she left with Todd.

"Lori is smart."

With Todd's protection, Lori would be fine for now.

After Oren left with his people, he didn't dare take the main roads and was very cautious along the way.

He was on high alert, worried that John might have sent someone to tail them.

Oren led his remaining people through the suburbs and the city for several hours, only returning to their hideout, an abandoned villa, at dawn.

To avoid detection, they kept the windows closed at night and didn't use bright lights. During the day, they kept the doors shut.

He was exhausted, his nerves stretched thin the whole way.

If he knew John hadn't sent anyone to follow them, he would have been livid.

They had wandered around for hours for nothing.

Sandra heard the commotion and came out of her room, "Oren, where did you go? I heard from Richard that you took dozens of people out. Why are there only a few of you left? Where happened to the others?"

Such an embarrassing situation, Oren couldn't bring himself to say.

But before he could speak, one of the people who came back with him replied, "Ms. Johnson, the others were all turned by John. They joined Nightfall."

"You went to find John? And he turned you?" Sandra was shocked. "What happened? Oren, didn't I tell you not to mess with John?"

Seeing Sandra defend John, Oren felt a surge of anger, "The Shadow of Darkness organization and Nightfall are mortal enemies. If I don't mess with him, he'll come after me. Ms. Johnson, you're defending him here, but do you know he just threatened me to hand you and Richard over? He doesn't give a damn care about you."

Richard heard the noise and came out of his room, just in time to hear the conversation.

Instead of joining in, he quietly retreated back to his room.

It seemed Oren was useless too. He took so many people and not only gained nothing but also lost so many subordinates.

Sandra's eyes dimmed, "Even so, you can't mess with him. He's mine. If anyone's going to mess with him, it should be me. This is between him and me."

Oren waved his hand, signaling everyone else to leave. Only Sandra and Oren were left in the living room.

Even in the dim candlelight, Sandra's hideous scars were clearly visible.

It was truly ugly.

But Oren didn't think so; he felt pity instead.

"Ms. Johnson, I'm the only one you can rely on now. I'm the only one who truly cares for you." Oren suddenly hugged Sandra, pressing her onto the sofa. "Be with me, be my woman."

Sandra's eyes widened in terror as she kicked and punched at Oren, "Oren, you're crazy. Let go of me."

The more Sandra resisted, the angrier Oren became.

"Who is John? Ms. Johnson, accept your fate. I'm the only one who won't abandon you."

Sandra's scream pierced the night.
