Chapter 352: "All Together, I'm in a Hurry"
Aurora stared at the message on her phone, her hand suddenly gripping it tightly.
Virtual Bridge wasn't far from here.
Aurora immediately took out two identical outfits from the wardrobe, matching in every detail and size.
She put on one set herself and left the other on the bed.
Aurora walked out of the room and downstairs, just as Summer came in from outside. "Mommy, are you going out?"
"Yes, I need to go out for a bit. Stay home and take care of your brothers," Aurora exhorted, gently patting Summer's hair. "Your grandma is a bit unstable right now, so you and Loren need to keep an eye on her."
"Mommy, Grandma went out," Summer replied. "I just saw her leave in a car. She seemed to be in a hurry and didn't hear me when I called her."
Aurora's heart tightened, and a thought flashed through her mind. She quickly grasped it and thought, 'This is bad.'
She had received a message from the child kidnappers, and Helen might have received one too.
"Summer, I'm heading out now. Remember, stay inside and don't wander off, okay?" Aurora was afraid someone might target Summer and Loren next.
"Okay, Mommy, I understand." Summer was very sensible and didn't cause Aurora any trouble, knowing the house was already in chaos.
After giving her instructions, Aurora called Lori. "The clothes are in my room..."
Aurora made the call while walking to the parking lot. She got into a low-profile Mercedes, the most inconspicuous car in the house.
Aurora was in a hurry to get to Virtual Bridge but ran into Wade as she was leaving the neighborhood.
Wade was carrying a big cake. He saw Aurora and walked over to her.
"Aurora." Wade called her.
Aurora had to stop the car.
Wade walked up to the car and asked, "Aurora, where are you going? It's almost dark. My shop just came out with a new cake, and I brought it over for you to try."
"I have something urgent to do," Aurora said without elaborating.
"Aurora, don't worry too much about Jax. The police will find him," Wade comforted her. "You don't look well. Take care of yourself."
Wade was gentle and elegant, just like the old Wade Aurora remembered, but there was something different about him that she couldn't quite pinpoint.
Since Jax went missing, Wade had been coming to The Lewis Villa every day, chatting with Lloyd, comforting him, and bringing cakes or desserts.
Aurora also noticed that Wade always dressed very modestly, with T-shirts costing only a few dozen dollars.
"Alright, I have to go. You can find Grandpa yourself," Aurora spoke hurriedly, starting the car and driving out of the neighborhood.
Wade stood there, watching Aurora's car leave, his eyes growing darker.
Not long after Aurora left, a black Mercedes of the same model also drove out of the neighborhood.
This car was driving very fast, making a sedan feel like a sports car. The security guards at the gate couldn't see who was inside.
Night fell.
Azure Dragon Peak.
John had already driven halfway up the mountain, but the road ahead was under construction, making it impassable.
John asked the construction crew, and they told him the road had been under construction for half a month, making it impossible for any vehicles could go up the mountain.
John frowned slightly. "Has anyone gone up the mountain recently?"
"No," the construction worker responded. "The road ahead is collapsed. Even if someone wanted to go up, it's impossible. No one has gone up the mountain. I'm sure of it; I've been here for half a month."
"Thank you." John glanced at the mountain top. It was dark, and it was raining lightly, making it hard to see anything.
He had no choice but to turn the car around to go down the mountain.
Suddenly, John thought of something and called Sam.
"Sam, keep an eye on the house. Report any situation immediately."
"Mr. Lewis, I was just about to call you. Mrs. Aurora Lewis and Mrs. Helen Lewis have both gone out, one after the other."
Hearing this, John slammed on the brakes and stopped by the roadside.
"They both left alone?"
"It seems so," Sam answered. "Tyler and I were handling something, and when we came back, both of them were gone. According to the surveillance, they left alone. Oh, and Ms. Hernandez also went out."
"Find their locations immediately." John ordered urgently, realizing he had been tricked.
Jax wasn't at Azure Dragon Peak.
John immediately started the car and drove down the mountain.
At an intersection, a large truck suddenly halted in the middle of the road.
John's car was forced to stop, the windshield wipers moving up and down, making the view alternately clear and blurry.
The truck's driver door opened, and a tall man in black pants, Martin boots, and a T-shirt got out.
In the car's headlights, John recognized the man and was surprised.
The man was a foreigner named Beck, someone John had dealt with before.
At that moment, seven more people got out of the truck's cargo area, all dressed the same.
These eight people were internationally renowned, codenamed Lion.
They were like lions, rigorously trained and undefeated since their debut.
John realized that hiring such a formidable group to stop him meant escaping tonight would be nearly impossible.
He could only hope that Sam would quickly find Aurora and the others.
Despite his leg injury hadn't healed, John remained calm. He took a bandage from the car and tightly wrapped his thigh wound, securing it with a firm knot.
John got out of the car and walked to the front. Even though he was alone, he maintained his composure in front of the mercenaries.
"Do we have to fight?" John asked coldly.
Beck didn't waste words. "I'm just doing my job, Mr. Lewis. Someone paid for your life."
John slowly rolled up his sleeves. The rain quickly soaked his clothes, and drops of water dripped from his hard facial lines to the ground.
As a drop of rain hit the ground, John's eyes turned cold and fierce. "Let's see if you have what it takes. All of you, come at me. I'm in a hurry."
No one had ever been so arrogant, challenging eight people alone.
Beck's group was also provoked.
Suddenly, everyone moved, and chaos erupted.
John, pressed for time, fought with straightforward and deadly precision.
Each strike was lethal.
With the car lights cutting through the pouring rain, John fought the eight men. Light and shadows danced around them, water splashing underfoot. Soon, the rainwater was stained with blood.
It was hard to tell whose blood it was.
John took a heavy blow to the chest, staggering back a few steps, finally half-kneeling with one leg, one hand on the ground to steady himself.
A drop of blood dripped from John's hair into the water, quickly spreading.
John's eyes gradually turned blood-red. When he looked up again, his eyes gleamed with a bloodthirsty intensity, like a tiger's.
Lions may be kings of the grasslands, but tigers are kings of all beasts.
"None of you are leaving." With a roar, John launched a fierce attack, quickly taking down those who came at him. He swiftly moved towards Beck, grabbing his neck. A little more force, and he could snap it.
Beck was shocked but reacted quickly, counterattacking and grabbing John's hand.
Meanwhile.
Virtual Bridge.
The rain was getting heavier, and there were no people around.
Helen had already arrived.
