Chapter 189 Jennifer Guessed Aurora's Secret

Aurora had been to the hospital three times in one day.

She thought, this year must have been so unlucky. Because what this year had happened was much more cheerful and exciting than the past twenty-five years combined.

And all this excitement started after meeting John.

Upon arriving at the hospital, a series of tests were immediately arranged.

The final result was a threatened miscarriage.

As for the cause, the doctor analyzed several possibilities. Aurora felt that the most likely reason was external factors.

The doctor recommended hospitalization to protect the pregnancy.

Lying on the hospital bed, Aurora was still in lingering fear . If it weren't for the bleeding, she would have thought she was invincible.

Ashley was also quite scared, and Loren was so worried that he couldn't help but cry.

"Loren, don't worry; Mommy is fine now." Aurora said with a smile, holding Loren's hand. "Come, feel your little sister. Mommy and your sister are both fine."

Loren carefully touched Aurora's belly, his expression so serious that he looked like a little adult. "Mommy doesn't take care of yourself. From today on, Mommy has to rest well, no running around. Without Loren's permission, you can't get out of bed. If you need anything, just tell Loren. Loren will take care of Mommy."

Loren patted his little chest, looking both adorable and responsible, like a little man.

Aurora was amused. "Alright, Mommy will listen to you, my little manager."

Ashley also laughed, "Aurora, Loren is worried about you. You need to be more careful and rest more during the first three months of pregnancy."

"Okay." Aurora said with a smile, "Godmother, I'm sorry for making you worry."

Ashley replied, "Don't say that."

"Aurora." After hearing the news, John immediately rushed in.

Seeing Aurora lying on the bed with pale face, John felt so heartbroken. "Aurora, how are you feeling? What did the doctor say? Are you still uncomfortable anywhere?"

Aurora gave a faint smile. "You asked so many questions at once; which one should I answer first? Anyway, don't worry; I'm fine. I just need to rest."

"Don't say you're fine. A threatened miscarriage is no small matter." Ashley said, "Just follow the doctor's orders and rest in bed."

"Threatened miscarriage?" John's eyes widened. He glanced at Aurora's belly and held her hand tightly. "Aurora, you've suffered."

He hadn't realized how difficult it was to carry a child.  And then, he watched the doctor give Aurora an injection to protect the pregnancy, and the thick needle piercing her body seemed more painful than if it were piercing his own.

Aurora clearly felt the pain but only frowned slightly. She smiled to comfort him, "It's okay; it doesn't hurt at all."

John's eyes welled up.

After injection, the doctor said , "We'll give another injection later. After tomorrow, one injection a day should be enough."

John asked, "How many injections in total?"

"It depends. If there's no more bleeding and the progesterone levels rise, then no more injections will be needed."

After the doctor left, Ashley took Loren home, leaving only Aurora and John in the room.

John stood by the bed and kept staring at Aurora for a while. Aurora felt puzzled and smiled, "What's wrong? Don't look at me like that. The doctor said everything will be fine."

John's eyes were moist, making Aurora a bit shocked. It was the first time she had seen John tear up for her.

John sat on the edge of the bed. He wrapped his arms around Aurora's waist, and rested his head on her belly. His voice was low, "I didn't realize how fragile yet strong children could be."

Aurora caressed John's head and said with a smile, "Children have a spirit. They chose us as parents and won't give up easily. Don't worry; I won't run around anymore. I'll stay in bed and take care of the pregnancy. Is that okay?"

John gently rubbed his head against Aurora's belly. "Let me hold you all properly."

Aurora laughed, "You're such a big guy, acting like a kid."

John, with his head resting on Aurora's belly, did act like a big child being affectionate.

After holding, John took off his shoes and lay down on the bed. "I'll stay here with you and our daughters tonight."

Aurora couldn't help but laugh, "If people outside knew that the big, bad CEO of Lewis Group was so clingy, they'd be shocked."

"Being clingy to my wife is nothing to be ashamed of," John said, using his arm as a pillow for Aurora. "I feel at ease when you're around."

"Me too," Aurora said with a smile. She rested her head on John's arm and closed her eyes. "I'm a bit sleepy. I want to take a nap."

"Okay," John covered Aurora with a blanket, and, after setting his phone to silent, rested with her in his arms.

Meanwhile, in another hospital room...

Jennifer had called John several times, but no one answered.

Helen, lying on the hospital bed, was unhappy. "Daughter-in-law, my son isn't answering your calls? Let me call him."

"Okay," Jennifer said, eager for this.

Helen also called John several times, but still, no one answered.

Helen muttered, "My son knows I'm in the hospital. How could he not answer the phone?"

"Maybe he's busy," Jennifer said, trying to sound nonchalant. "With John's social status now, he must have a lot on his plate."

"Not just engagements, but also some shameless women are hitting on John," Sandra said, walking in with a fruit basket. "Auntie Helen, are you feeling better? Do you remember me? I'm Sandra."

Helen looked at Sandra and smiled, "Sandra, you've grown so much and become prettier."

In Helen's memory, Sandra was just a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl.

"Auntie Helen, you must stand up for Jennifer," Sandra said. "Recently, a woman named Aurora has been clinging to John. John must be with that woman now."

"Aurora?" Helen felt the name sounded familiar.

"Yes, this woman is shameless. She knows Jennifer and John are together but still wants to be a homewrecker," Sandra twisted the facts. "Auntie Helen, that Aurora had children out of wedlock and has a very messy personal life. She's after John's money."

"Had children out of wedlock?" Helen laughed awkwardly, scratching her forehead while murmuring, "I just forgot a few years, and now young girls are so open. Times have changed too fast."

Was that the point? Sandra thought.  Shouldn't the point be that a woman with children out of wedlock and a messy personal life was clinging to John?

Seeing that the conversation was going nowhere, Jennifer changed the topic with a smile. "Auntie Helen, you should rest first. I'll come to see you tomorrow."

"Okay," Helen said. "Jennifer, don't worry too much. I know what kind of person John is. He would never do anything to hurt you."

Jennifer said, "Sandra was just joking. Auntie Helen, you should rest early."

Jennifer couldn't wait to leave. Without knowing where John was, she couldn't be at ease.

Upon leaving the room, Jennifer immediately made a call. "Find out where John is."

In less than three minutes, Jennifer received a reply. Looking at the message, she frowned. [He's in the hospital.]

Sandra asked, "Jennifer, why isn't John answering the phone if he's in the hospital? Why isn't he visiting Helen?"

Jennifer put away her phone and said, "Aurora is also in the hospital. I saw Aurora coming out of the gynecology department this morning. She said it was menstrual irregularities. Now it seems it's not that simple."

"Jennifer, do you mean Aurora might be..." The sisters looked at each other, both having the same thought.

Jennifer said, "I'll go find the gynecology chief who check her during the day."
