Chapter 343: Actually, Todd Isn't That Bad
Richard got caught, and that's really good news.
"How about Jack?" Aurora asked eagerly, "Did you find Jack?"
John hesitated for a moment and shook his head. "Jack wasn't with Richard. When we went to rescue Lori and Todd today, we happened to run into Richard. Now Sam and Tyler have taken him to the Nightfall branch for custody. Lori has informed Allan to come and pick him up."
"You mean Lori called Allan to pick him up?" Aurora was quite surprised. Lori was decisive, and Richard probably didn't mean as much to her as Ava did. That's why Lori could make such a quick decision.
Aurora and John returned to the hotel.
The hotel was back to normal, and it turned out the fire that night was just a false alarm.
Aurora told John about seeing Raymond. John sneered and spoke, "There are always people who aren't afraid of death."
Messing with his wife? That's a death wish.
John could easily guess what Raymond was up to.
That very night, John made an excuse to go out and personally destroyed Raymond's genitals.
He made sure Raymond would never have children.
John had Raymond's severed genitals put in a bottle and sent back to Nick along with the unconscious Raymond.
In the dead of night, Nick heard the servant's scream and rushed out of his room to find Raymond lying at the door covered in blood. He was so shocked he almost fainted on the spot.
Nick lifted Raymond's pants and his face changed dramatically. He staggered back a few steps before he could stand firm.
First, they failed to capture Aurora, and then Raymond was sent back with his genitals cut off. Nick could naturally guess who did it.
Ruthless, truly ruthless.
What could Nick do in the face of John's revenge?
He could only endure it silently.
Who told him to covet someone else's wife?
Nick's other two sons came out of their rooms upon hearing the commotion and were equally shocked to see Raymond in such a state.
"Father, this must be John's doing. We can't let this go."
"Exactly, this is too ruthless."
"Our family is respected in these circles, and John is showing no respect to you."
"Shut up, all of you," Nick shouted. "No one is to speak of this tonight."
If word got out that he coveted John's wife so that his son suffered such a punishment, it would damage his reputation further.
"Father." The two sons were unwilling. "Father, John has already rescued that woman and Todd. This feud is on."
Nick was even more troubled at the thought of this. "Who told Willie to capture the Nightfall people? Prepare gifts; tomorrow I will personally visit and offer my condolences. We must act as if we know nothing about this, and it was all Willie's idea. Do you understand?"
"And what about Raymond? Are we just going to let it go?"
"We will have our chance for revenge," Nick spoke, looking at Raymond one last time. "Great achievements require patience and endurance."
John handled the matter of Raymond setting the fire, so Aurora didn't ask about it. She knew about Raymond's castration later.
Aurora went to Lori's room. Lori was sitting on the couch, her face injured and her body covered in bruises. She was applying ointment to herself.
The wounds on her back were hard to reach. Aurora walked over. "Let me help."
"Aurora!" Lori handed the ointment to Aurora. "Be gentle, I'm afraid it will hurt."
"You fear nothing, and yet you're afraid of pain?" Aurora asked, but her hands were gentle.
Lori had quite a few external injuries this time, with bruises all over, looking quite shocking.
Lori lay on the couch, letting Aurora treat her. "Aurora, why are your eyes so red?"
"Got sand in them, rubbed them red," Aurora replied. "When is Mr. Jennings arriving?"
"Their department has procedures to follow, slow as always. The earliest will be tomorrow afternoon," Lori replied. "Aurora, I'm leaving with Allan tomorrow. If anything happens to me, you must get me the best lawyer to reduce my sentence."
Aurora extended her hand. "Pay me the lawyer's fee before you go in."
Lori widened her eyes.
"Aurora, are you really my sister?"
"Not by blood."
"They say even siblings keep clear accounts. Since we're not blood-related, let's not be so strict about it," Lori whined out, pushing Aurora's hand away. "Besides, you never paid back the money you borrowed from me."
Aurora flicked Lori's forehead with her finger. "Your intelligence has really improved recently, playing word games now. No money, I'm your only family left. Who else would you leave your savings to?"
"Aurora, you're already rich, and you still want my money?" Lori shook her head vigorously. "No way."
"Look at you, such a miser. You love money so much, I don't believe you'd willingly spend a few years in jail," Aurora uttered, applying the last piece of ointment. "Don't overthink it. What you did isn't a big deal. Don't scare yourself. I promise you won't go to jail."
"Aurora, you're so good. Come here, let me give you a kiss," Lori hugged Aurora's neck. "This is my first kiss."
Aurora laughed and blurted out, "I don't believe you. You've kissed Todd, so how is this your first kiss?"
The room fell silent.
Lori almost jumped off the couch in excitement. "Damn it, I'm going to settle this with Todd."
"Lori," Aurora quickly held her back. "Todd is already in bad shape. I heard half of his injuries were caused by you. If you hit him again, he might be permanently disabled. Be careful, you might have to take care of him for life."
"He wishes," Lori sat cross-legged. "He brought it on himself for messing with me."
"Really?" Aurora sensed something. "Lori, do you have feelings for Todd?"
"No, he's not my type. Unless he gains fifty pounds and builds some muscle, I might consider it."
"Consider it?" Aurora smiled. "Lori, that's a big step forward. Keep it up."
"No, Aurora, I misspoke. Can I take it back?" Lori looked distressed. "Seeing him more makes me live less. He annoys me so much, I might die young. I suspect he's plotting to murder me."
Aurora gave a thumbs up. "Quick thinking."
Lori said nothing more, knowing the more she explained, the less clear it would be.
"Aurora, actually, besides being a useless person who likes to argue, Todd isn't that bad. He's not strong, and he's petty, but he's okay otherwise."
"You've criticized him completely. What else is there?" Aurora asked.
"He..." Lori thought for a moment and finally found a good point. "He's resilient. His defense skills are top-notch. When Willie’s group attacked me, he was quite manly, protecting me."
Lori was angry at the time, but later realized that when Willie’s group attacked her, Todd, though appearing to hide behind her, actually helped her avoid many attacks.
Actually, Todd wasn't that bad.
