Chapter 54 Pick Up Loren at the Police Station
Randy and Summer had been off the island for a while, and they had taken care of everything they needed to.
Today, Randy brought Summer to say goodbye to John.
"Yeah, we're leaving this afternoon." Randy glanced at Summer and said to John, "This time we're going back to the island, and who knows when we'll be off again? Summer heard you were in the hospital and insisted on coming to see you."
Summer, feeling exposed, pouted. "I didn't come just to see him. I came to remind him not to forget our agreement."
John smirked and said, "If you break any of my records on the island, I'll personally come to see you and grant you a wish. Anything you want, I'll make it happen."
"Really?" Summer's eyes sparkled. "It's a deal."
"It's a deal."
After seeing John, it was time for Summer to leave with Randy.
Before leaving, Summer asked, "Are you sure you don't need me to teach you a couple of tricks to pick up girls?"
John, with his arrogance, would never actually ask a kid for advice.
Todd chuckled. "Summer, if Boss won't learn, teach me. Show me a couple of tricks to help me find a girlfriend."
Todd didn't really take Summer's words seriously; he was just having fun.
What could a four-year-old kid know about picking up girls?
"Alright, since you've kept me company for so many days, I'll teach you a couple of tricks." Summer said reluctantly, "To win over a girl, you only need two tricks: the 'wounded hero' act and persistence."
John's eyes lit up at this.
Todd was also surprised. Those two tricks might actually work.
John staying in the hospital was essentially using the 'wounded hero' act, wasn't it?
So far, it hadn't had much effect, but at least Aurora had brought him some soup.
Todd gave a thumbs up. "Summer, impressive. Where did you learn that?"
"From books," Summer said, "Don't underestimate me. If I've read something once, I can learn it."
Summer was indeed impressive in this regard, with a great memory and the ability to understand and create.
Randy felt this the most.
John said, "Not everything in books is correct. You need to have your own judgment."
"Got it."
Summer was quite teachable.
After spending a few days together, John had grown fond of the kid.
Summer was different from other children; you couldn't interact with him with a child's mindset. You couldn't treat Summer like a kid.
After staying in the hospital for a while, Randy took Summer and left.
As they were leaving, Summer looked back at the city. He was leaving today, and who knew when he would be off the island again?
Summer's main reason for leaving the island this time was to find his brother.
After they got separated, they lost all contact.
Silvercrest City was huge, so finding someone was like looking for a needle in a haystack. And after so long, who knew how his brother was doing?
Summer thought of John's promise. As long as he broke the island's record, he could ask John to help find his brother.
"Summer, let's go." Randy got in the car and urged.
"Okay."
Summer got in the car, and just as their taxi left, another taxi arrived, and out came Aurora.
Aurora thought for a moment and decided to visit John.
Seeing Todd's car in the parking lot, she knew he was there. Aurora waited until Todd left before going upstairs to the inpatient department.
Aurora paced in the hallway, sneaking around, still unsure how to face John.
As she was thinking about how to start, she suddenly saw a woman walk into John's room.
The woman was elegant, young, and beautiful.
Aurora had known John for a while but didn't know any of his other friends.
'Who was this woman?'
'A friend of John's?'
'Or...'
Aurora shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts.
Even if the woman was John's girlfriend, Aurora and John had broken up, so she had no right to say anything.
Thinking this, Aurora still felt uneasy and stayed hidden, watching the room.
Inside the room, John suddenly noticed a familiar figure at the corner of the door and smiled slightly.
Aurora thought she was well hidden, but John had spotted her.
John's smile shocked Elena.
Elena thought, 'The boss smiled?'
Elena thought she was mistaken.
She blinked, and seeing John's usual expressionless face, she sighed in relief.
She must have imagined it.
The usually cold John couldn't possibly smile.
Elena reported, "Mr. Lewis, recently, Vice President has been getting close to several board members. Do we need to do something?"
John suddenly said, "Miss Elena, get me a glass of water."
"Okay." Elena quickly poured water.
John said, "And peel an apple."
"Mr. Lewis, are you hungry?" Elena asked, "Should I order some food?"
"No need, just an apple." John drank the water, ate the apple, and then had Elena bring a chair to sit beside him.
Elena was flattered but didn't think John had any interest in her.
She had been with John for years and knew her place.
Elena always followed orders without question.
Aurora, watching from the corner, saw everything. Drinking water, eating an apple, sitting so close—there was definitely something going on.
Unable to hear their conversation from a distance, Aurora could only judge by their actions, which seemed intimate.
Aurora turned and left. With someone taking care of John, he didn't need her visit.
Aurora didn't realize she was jealous and left the hospital feeling uneasy, only to receive a call from the police station.
Aurora initially thought the police were calling about Henry's defamation case. She had hired a lawyer to pursue it, and Henry had accused Emily of instigating it, but Emily denied knowing Henry.
In the end, she could only sue Henry.
It was also a warning to Emily.
When Aurora arrived at the police station, before she could ask what was going on, a soft little figure rushed into her arms, "Lady, I missed you so much."
Seeing Loren in her arms, Aurora was both surprised and delighted.
"Loren, what are you doing here? I missed you, too. Where have you been these days?"
She had been worried about Loren, fearing he might encounter bad people without adult supervision.
Seeing Loren safe, Aurora felt relieved.
Then she remembered they were at the police station. Why was Loren here?
