Chapter 263 Embarrassments at the Wedding

Lori showing up out of the blue really threw Aurora for a loop.

"Wait, weren't you supposed to be on a flight to Moscow? It was at 8 PM, right? You should be mid-air by now. What are you doing here?" Aurora asked, her surprise mixed with a bit of relief. She really didn't want Lori and Ava to leave.

Lori huffed, blowing her bangs out of her face. "Some rich jerk booked the whole flight to Moscow. I couldn't get on."

Aurora's jaw dropped. "Seriously? Is that possible?"

Ava glanced around, looking puzzled. "When's the wedding starting? And where's Todd?"

Aurora suddenly realized she hadn't seen Todd all day. "Isn't he supposed to be greeting guests at the door?"

"Nope, no one's there," Lori said, plopping down on a chair. "Maybe he heard I was coming and decided to hide."

"Mommy, I know where Todd is," Loren piped up.

Lori raised an eyebrow, rubbing her hands together. "Oh yeah? Where?"

Loren pointed. "I just saw him in the restroom."

Lori grinned mischievously. "Aurora, I'm heading to the restroom."

In the restroom, Todd and Summer were at the urinals, doing their business. They moved to the sink to wash up, and Summer broke the silence. "Todd, about that hush money..."

Todd looked puzzled. "What hush money?"

Summer flicked water off his hands, a greedy smile spreading across his face. "Come on, Todd. You're loaded. Don't be cheap. I know you bought out all the flights to Moscow. A little hush money won't hurt."

Todd quickly clamped a hand over Summer's mouth, glancing around nervously. "How did you find out?"

Summer tapped his ear. "I overheard you on the phone."

Todd realized Loren and Summer had set him up. "How much do you want?"

"Nothing less than a hundred grand," Summer said, not missing a beat.

Todd sighed, feeling cornered. "Fine, but that's a lot."

"And one for Loren too," Summer added, patting Todd on the shoulder. "If Lori finds out you messed with her trip, you know what'll happen."

"You guys are like a family of vampires. First John, now you," Todd grumbled, vowing to be more careful next time.

Todd transferred two hundred grand to Summer on the spot. Summer checked his account balance and grinned. "Thanks."

"Now keep quiet about it. I just don't like Lori, that's all," Todd said, sounding defensive.

Summer smirked. "I never said you had a thing for Lori. Or do you?"

Todd quickly denied it. "No way. She's a nightmare. I just want her out of my hair."

Summer gave him a thumbs up. "Whatever you say."

Satisfied with his haul, Summer left and bumped into Lori on her way to the restroom.

"Hey, Summer, have you seen Todd?" Lori asked.

"Yeah, he's inside," Summer said, not bothering to cover for Todd.

"Perfect," Lori said, rolling up her sleeves and marching in.

It was the men's restroom.

"Good luck, Todd," Summer muttered, heading back to the wedding hall where Loren was waiting.

"Did you get the hush money?" Loren asked as Summer returned.

"Yep, ten grand. We'll split it fifty-fifty. I'll give you your share when we get back," Summer said without a hint of guilt.

"Only ten grand? That's not much," Loren complained.

"Todd's broke lately. We shouldn't be too greedy," Summer said, trying to sound reasonable.

Loren sighed. "Alright, just don't forget to give me my share."

"Don't worry, I'm your brother. I wouldn't cheat you," Summer said, throwing an arm around Loren's shoulder as they walked in.

The wedding had already started. The host was giving a speech, and the groom had just entered first. The bride was changing into a new dress.

When the host announced, "Please welcome today's most beautiful bride," the doors swung open, and Amelia walked in, looking stunning in her white wedding dress.

You had to admit, when Amelia wasn't throwing a tantrum, she was a real knockout.

John squeezed Aurora's hand tight. Seeing her gaze fixed on Amelia, he figured she was dreaming of her wedding dress. He leaned in and whispered, "Aurora, I'll make sure you get everything you deserve."

When you're head over heels in love, there's always that fear of not giving enough.

Aurora got what John was hinting at and felt a warm rush of emotion. "Let's talk about it after the baby comes. I don't want to look like a whale in a wedding dress."

Her belly was getting bigger, and with Helen still in the hospital, it would be months before they could plan anything. By then, she'd be six or seven months along, and weddings were exhausting.

John smiled, "To me, you're beautiful no matter what."

"You're laying it on thick today," she teased.

Their whispered conversation made others around green with envy.

In the back, Sophia watched them and sighed, wishing for her own Prince Charming. "When will my knight in shining armor show up?" she muttered.

Just then, Leo rushed over and plopped down next to her. "Sophia, I got it for you."

Sophia's good mood evaporated at the sight of Leo. If he was the one, she'd rather stay single forever.

Confused, she asked, "I didn't ask you to get anything. What did you buy?"

Leo handed her a black bag with hemostatic medicine inside. "Here, this will help."

Sophia opened the bag, saw the medicine, and shoved it back at him, furious. "Are you out of your mind?"

Leo looked bewildered. "I thought this time I got it right. Why are you mad again?"

"You idiot, who takes hemostatic medicine for the period?" Sophia snapped, moving to another seat. "Don't even talk to me."

At the next table, Ashley witnessed the whole story and walked over. "Leo, what did you do to upset Sophia this time?"

"How should I know? Women are impossible to please these days," Leo grumbled. "She said her stomach hurt due to her period. Painkillers didn't work, and now this doesn't either. What does she want?"

Ashley glanced at the medicine box and nearly fainted from frustration. "How did I raise such an idiot?"

"Mom, what did I do wrong? Aurora told me to get it."

"What exactly did Aurora say?" Ashley asked.

Leo mimicked Aurora's tone. "She said, 'Why don't you just buy hemostatic medicine?' So I did."

Ashley sighed, realizing her son couldn't even recognize sarcasm. "Leo, you need to get a clue, or you'll never get a girlfriend."

"Mom, help me out here, or you'll never get a daughter-in-law."

Ashley asked, "How did you get your previous girlfriends?"

"I didn't have to chase them. With my charm, they all came to me," Leo said, puffing up with pride.

Ashley rolled her eyes. "They weren't after your charm; they were after your dad's fortune."

Leo's eyes widened. "They wanted to be my stepmom?"

Ashley raised her hand as if to smack him. "How did I end up with such a dumb son?"

After a few pretend swats, she gave up. Having a daughter-in-law and grandkids seemed like a lost cause. She decided to go for her husband instead.

When Kevin heard what happened, he almost went to smack their son himself.

Meanwhile, the wedding was still going on. Daniel, holding the ring, walked towards Amelia. As he knelt on one knee, a loud ripping sound echoed through the hall.

Daniel's pants had torn.

The sound was unmistakable, and the tear was big enough to show the color of his underwear.

For a few seconds, the room was dead silent. Then, everyone burst into laughter.
