Chapter 59 As Childish as a Kid
Aurora was dumbfounded by John's childishness.
Loren looked a bit disdainful and pouted. "Uncle John, you're so old, and you want me to call you brother?"
Hearing this, Aurora almost burst out laughing.
John was indeed in his thirties, so his asking a four-year-old kid to call him brother wasn't that pretending to be young?
"Am I that old?" John sounded a bit depressed.
Since he was wearing a mask, Aurora couldn't see his expression and didn't know if John was happy or angry. "Mr. Lewis, the official records show you're already thirty-four, almost forty."
John suddenly fell silent, making Aurora think she had said something wrong. She cautiously observed John, only to hear him say, "Let's go to this place."
Following John's gaze, Aurora saw that they were next to Villa Kitchen.
Eating here?
She didn't have enough money to pay the bill even if she emptied her wallet.
Aurora swallowed and said, "Mr. Lewis, I'm afraid I won't be able to pay the bill, and all three of us will be detained here."
John smirked. "Not three, just you and the kid."
Sure, who would dare detain John?
"Go to the trunk and get the wheelchair."
"What?" Aurora didn't react immediately.
John stretched his leg. "I'm a cripple, so have you ever seen a cripple walk in by himself?"
"You’re clearly pretending..." Aurora thought about how John couldn't reveal he was not a cripple and went to get the wheelchair.
As soon as she put it down, John sat in it. "Push me in."
Was he treating her as Sam?
Loren's eyes twinkled, and he smartly stood behind the wheelchair, grinning. "Uncle John, let me push you."
The wheelchair was very light and easy to push.
Aurora laughed. "Loren, be careful while pushing, and don't tip your Uncle John over into a ditch."
"Don't worry. Aurora I'll be careful."
Aurora walked ahead, and John had a gloomy face. But since he was wearing a mask, no one could see his expression, so he could only sulk by himself.
Loren chuckled and hummed. "You say you don't want to pursue Aurora, but you're even using the 'wounded hero' act. Aurora is mine. I won't let you have her."
Loren thought John was even better at acting, pretending to be crippled and sitting in a wheelchair.
Loren couldn't let John get close to Aurora.
John smirked.
"Kid, you're so young, and you want to compete with me for a woman."
"See, you admitted it." Loren said, "Since that's the case, let's compete fairly. Don't say a kid is bullying you, no cheating."
John was both amused and exasperated. He had fallen into the kid's trap and had to compete fairly with a child.
"Mr. Lewis, Loren, hurry up." Aurora called from the front, unaware that the two men behind her were competing for her affection.
"Coming, Aurora." Loren, still full of energy, pushed John quickly.
He deliberately chose uneven paths, and wherever there were stones or bumps, Loren went there.
John's butt was numb from the jolts. He was the head of the Lewis Group, being toyed with by a four-year-old kid, and it would be a humiliated joke if word got out.
John couldn't argue with a child.
John never thought his rival in love would be such a young, cunning kid.
John booked a table, and the three of them went in directly. The waiter served the dishes, including all specialties of the restaurant, and the prices were naturally high.
The service fee here was as much as Aurora's living expenses for several months.
Loren was really hungry and ate a lot. After eating and drinking, he started to tease John, holding a small forkand feeding Aurora a piece of steak. "Aurora, open your mouth."
Aurora knew Loren's little thoughts and was happy to cooperate.
The scene really looked like they were showing off their affection.
Loren was like a little bundle of joy. Since adopting Loren, Aurora had been smiling more.
After feeding Aurora, Loren smugly said to John, "Aurora likes to eat what I feed her."
"Child's play." John snorted. "Aurora, push me to the restroom."
Aurora's eyes widened and asked, "Mr. Lewis, can't you go by yourself? Besides, men and women are different, so I can't follow you into the men's room."
He wasn't a three-year-old who needed someone to accompany him to the restroom.
John's tone was casual. "Villa Kitchen has too many acquaintances, so it's inconvenient. If you don't want your bonus next month, you can..."
"I'll go."
Aurora immediately got up to push John.
She was short on money now.Raising a child required money everywhere, so she couldn't afford to lose any.
And Villa Kitchen was frequented by prominent people. If someone found out John was pretending to be crippled, it would be troublesome.
John smugly smirked at Loren.
Loren pouted and said, "Uncle John is cheating."
John looked at Aurora. "It's urgent."
Aurora didn't care if John was cheating, and she sternly told Loren, "Loren, be good and wait here, and we'll be right back."
Loren listened to Aurora, pouting. "Okay."
Despite feeling wronged, he obediently sat in his chair.
Out of Aurora's sight, John made a victory sign at Loren, looking even more smug than Loren had earlier.
Loren's face puffed up in anger, making him look even cuter.
Loren snorted and turned his head. "Childish."
Aurora pushed John out of the private room, only to remember there was a restroom inside.
"Mr. Lewis, isn't it a bit childish to argue with a kid?"
John was sincere and said, "I really need to go."
Aurora was speechless.
Aurora pushed John around a corner and ran into Kevin and his wife.
Kevin and Ashley had just finished their meal and were surprised to see Aurora pushing John.
"Godfather, godmother." Aurora greeted with a smile.
"Aurora." Ashley was delighted to see Aurora and held her hand. "Aurora, you haven't visited me for days."
Aurora said, "I've been a bit busy lately, so I was planning to visit you after finishing up."
Kevin exchanged a glance with John in the wheelchair and pulled Ashley. "We still need to see Mr. Bell off. Aurora, you go ahead, and you can catch up with your godmother later."
Kevin then smiled at Aurora. "Aurora, remember to visit often. We'll be off now."
"Okay, godfather, godmother, you go ahead."
Kevin had an impeccable sense of timing and wouldn't dare interrupt John and Aurora.
He was happy to see them together.
After Kevin and his wife left, Aurora felt something was off. Kevin didn't seem surprised to see her with John, nor did he ask any questions.
"Aurora." John reminded her in a calm tone.
Aurora collected herself and pushed John to the men's restroom, stopping at the door, "You go in yourself. I can't push you in."
John remained calm. "This year's year-end bonus will be doubled."
Aurora was helpless.
