Chapter 335: Don't Touch Her
Lori glanced around and started counting, "One, two, three... fifty-eight people in total."
Fifty-eight people surrounded Lori and Todd, leaving no way out. This was a narrow alley; unless they could scale walls, there was no escape.
Neither Lori nor Todd showed any signs of panic or fear; they were very calm. As Todd would say, being chased was just a regular occurrence.
However, Todd was still worried about his safety and whispered, "Hey, do you think you can take them all down?"
"Do you think I'm a god? Eight people, maybe. Fifty-eight? I'd be exhausted just taking turns," Lori rolled her eyes. "It's clear they're after you. I ain't getting involved in this mess."
Lori took a step back and raised her voice, "If you want to catch him, go ahead. It has nothing to do with me. I'm just a passerby."
"You're really ruthless," Todd gritted his teeth, grabbing Lori's arm. "Don't think you can ditch me. You got me into this mess, now it's my turn."
But with Todd's arm in a cast, how much strength could he have?
Todd, being Nightfall's right-hand man, naturally drew suspicion that the group was targeting him. But the leader pointed at Lori, "We're here for you."
Lori was surprised, "Are you out of your mind? I haven't offended you. Why go to such lengths to catch me?"
When Todd heard they were after Lori, he immediately let go and stepped back, distancing himself, "If you want to catch her, go ahead. It has nothing to do with me. I don't even know her."
Lori was speechless.
Todd was so petty, changing his tune so quickly.
Lori, angry, grabbed Todd, "You think you can distance yourself? No way."
Then Lori turned to the leader, "Do you know who this guy is?"
"Lori, come on, be cool." Todd smiled helplessly.
Lori snorted, "Take a good look. This is Todd, the Nightfall's right-hand man. If you catch him, you'll be famous. Imagine, capturing someone from Nightfall. What a feat!"
Lori egged them on.
The leader was indeed tempted. They only intended to catch Lori, but now there was also Todd.
"Take them both."
Todd gritted his teeth, "You're ruthless."
"Learned from you." Lori replied.
The leader ordered, "Get them."
Lori was ready, throwing punches and kicks without mercy. Her slender legs seemed like they could snap with a pinch, and her thin arms and waist made Todd wonder how such a slim woman could pack such explosive power.
Lori was fierce and beautiful, her long hair flying, looking very cool.
Dozens of people attacked Lori. She wasn't invincible and ended up getting injured.
A man took advantage of a moment and kicked Lori in the back.
Lori staggered a few steps before steadying herself.
Lori was outnumbered and outmatched. With two fists against four legs, her chances were looking grim.
Suddenly, Todd shouted, "Help, Lori!"
Todd ran towards Lori, his casted arm suddenly agile, grabbing Lori's hand and hiding behind her.
Everyone attacked the two of them.
"Todd, you're dragging me down. Are you even a man?" Lori was furious.
The attackers kept coming. Todd seemed to be hiding behind Lori but was actually helping her dodge attacks, like an eel, making it hard for anyone to touch them.
Todd handled the defense, Lori attacked; they worked well together.
In her anger, Lori didn't realize this.
Todd wasn't strong, but his defense was top-notch.
"Your hand is healed?" Lori noticed Todd.
"Gary's medicine works fast. It's been healed for a while," Todd admitted. "I kept pretending because I didn't want you to hassle me."
"Todd, you tricked me again."
The angrier Lori got, the stronger she became.
She knocked several people to the ground, unable to get up.
Todd was stunned.
Seeing the two about to escape, the leader ordered, "Everyone, get them. Don't let them escape."
Fifty-eight people couldn't stop two; that would be a joke.
Everyone formed a circle, blocking all exits.
Lori threw a grappling hook, hooking it onto a building above, wrapping the rope around her hand.
If she were alone, she could escape.
But despite her issues with Todd, she couldn't leave him. She could bully Todd, but she wouldn't let others.
"Todd, hold on to me." Lori shouted.
This time, Todd let go, not holding Lori. He knew that without him, Lori could escape.
The rope couldn't hold both their weights, increasing the chance of capture.
"I'm not holding you. You just want to take advantage of me," Todd teased Lori. "You're so heavy, the rope might snap with just you."
He thought Lori would definitely run, given their history.
Todd drew most of the attackers, giving Lori a chance to escape.
With Todd's limited skills, he was easily captured when everyone attacked him.
Lori was furious at Todd's words. She could have escaped but seeing Todd being beaten, she didn't hesitate and let go of the rope, returning.
Lori grabbed one of Todd's attackers and threw him out.
She was fierce.
Lying on the ground, being beaten, Todd was shocked to see Lori return.
At that moment, the punches and kicks didn't hurt as much.
Then Todd saw someone about to attack Lori from behind.
"Lori, watch out." Todd shouted in fear, trying to get up, but it was too late.
Lori was hit hard on the back, spitting blood and collapsing.
"Lori." Todd caught her. In the nearly half-hour fight, Lori had taken many hits.
The last blow knocked her out.
At that moment, Todd realized Lori wasn't invincible; she was just human.
"Take them both." the leader ordered.
Todd looked up, his usually gentle eyes turning bloodthirsty, stained by Lori's blood.
"Willie Reed, better get some coffins ready."
Todd had recognized the leader from the start. He had dealt with these people for years and knew the situation well.
Willie was shaken by Todd's words.
After all, he had captured someone from Nightfall. Todd was Nightfall's right-hand man. Offending Nightfall was a death sentence.
Willie sobered up, wondering why he had been swayed by Lori and gone against Nightfall.
But it was too late to turn back.
Willie, understanding this, spoke, "Sorry 'bout that, Mr. Smith. Here, take 'em."
At his command, someone went to grab Lori and Todd.
"Back off, hands off her," Todd stood up, proud and defiant, holding Lori. "Lead the way."
Willie was stunned.
How did this get reversed? He was supposed to be capturing them.
Now it felt like they were Todd's subordinates.
