Chapter 109 Meeting John's Family
The future mistress of the Lewis Family?
Aurora was stunned. She glanced at Todd and Gary, sensing something big was up.
Fighting alongside John had always been her dream.
Aurora grabbed John's hand and smiled. "Okay!"
With that, she committed to a lifetime with him.
John's smile widened as he heldher hand tightly and looked at Todd. "By the way, Summer broke the record. I gave him a week off the island. He should be here tonight. Go pick him up."
"Summer broke your record?" Todd was shocked. He knew Summer was talented, but this was fast. "The new overthrow the old. Impressive."
Todd gave a thumbs up. Gary added, "Summer is indeed talented. Randy did well this time."
Getting Summer to the island was probably Randy's best move.
Todd asked, "Mr. Lewis, which record did Summer break?"
"Shooting."
"Impressive. I'll go get him." Todd left eagerly.
Aurora had heard of Summer before and was curious about him.
To be praised by both Todd and Gary and to break John's record, he must be amazing.
Moving to the old house, Aurora needed to pack. She was nervous.
She was going to meet his parents.
"John, does your family know about me?" Aurora asked. "It's my first visit. Should I buy gifts? Can you come to the mall with me? What do your grandpa and parents like?"
Aurora was very nervous. John looked at her gently. "You don't need to buy anything. They'll be happy just to see you."
"That's not right. It's about etiquette," Aurora insisted. "We have to buy something. We can't be impolite."
John's mom had given her a gift before, so she couldn't show up empty-handed.
John smiled. "Alright, as you wish."
"I'll change my clothes first." Aurora fixed her hair and changed into something more appropriate.
When she came out, she heard John on the phone with Helen. "Mom, prepare dinner tonight. I'm bringing Aurora home!"
"John, why did you tell them first?" Aurora whispered, worried Helen would hear.
John had the speakerphone on, and Helen laughed on the other end. "Aurora, I'll cook something good for you. Come early. You don't need to buy anything. I'm just happy you're coming. Don't be shy."
Aurora was so embarrassed she wanted to hide.
She glared at John. He smiled and told Helen, "Mom, Aurora prefers light flavors, so don't make the dishes too salty or spicy. See you later."
It wasn't that Aurora preferred light flavors, but the doctor had advised her to eat lightly for her health.
John was considerate, not wanting Helen to worry and taking care of Aurora's health.
After hanging up, Aurora playfully punched John. "Let's go!"
"Okay."
They headed to the mall. Sophia called to invite Aurora to dinner that evening.
"I can't," Aurora said, glancing at John. "I'll treat you another day."
Sophia sensed something was up and teased, "Are you going on a date with Mr. Lewis again?"
"He's with me now," Aurora said, not explicitly calling it a date. "We're going to the Lewis Family's old house for dinner tonight. Sophia, I'm nervous."
"Wow, meeting his parents already," Sophia said, surprised. "Mr. Lewis moves fast. Don't be nervous. He's the one pursuing you. Besides, you're great. The Lewis Family will definitely like you."
"Yeah."
John's mom was easygoing, but it was still Aurora's first visit, so she was a bit nervous.
"By the way, Aurora, Emily really bought that bag for a million dollars. She actually paid for it. Quite surprising," Sophia said. "I heard the Taylor family doesn't even like her. Where did she get so much money?"
"None of our business," Aurora replied. "I'm picking out gifts. Talk later."
"Alright," Sophia said, hanging up.
Aurora and John wandered the mall but couldn't find anything suitable. The Lewis Family didn't need jewelry, luxury bags, or supplements.
Finally, they stopped at a fruit store. John said, "Let's buy this."
Aurora was surprised. "Fruit? Is that appropriate?"
John replied, "As long as it's from you, they'll like it. It's the thought that counts."
They bought a box of seasonal fruit, spending only a few hundred dollars.
On the way to the Lewis Family's old house, Aurora grew more anxious. The closer they got, the more nervous she became.
The car slowly drove into the Lewis estate, which was massive. It took several minutes to reach the entrance.
When the car door opened, Aurora was stunned by the grandeur. There were two rows of people at the entrance, about fifty or sixty, including maids, servants, and drivers. Helen and Lloyd stood on the steps, looking out. Lucas and Wade were also there.
As soon as Aurora stepped out, the servants greeted in unison, "Hello, Ms. White, Mr. Lewis."
Aurora forced a smile and looked at John, silently asking why it was so grand.
John shrugged, indicating he was also surprised. He hadn't expected his mom and grandpa to make it so grand.
"Aurora, come in. Are you tired? Hungry?" Helen warmly walked over and took Aurora's hand, ignoring her own son behind.
Lloyd also smiled kindly. When he first heard John was bringing his girlfriend home, he didn't believe it. Seeing Aurora in person made him very happy.
John had been married three times and lived for over thirty years, but this was the first time he had formally brought a girlfriend home.
"Auntie, I'm not tired." Aurora smiled and greeted Lloyd, "Hello, Grandpa."
"Good."
When Aurora called him Grandpa, he couldn't stop grinning. "Hurry, come inside," he said.
Everyone went inside, leaving John alone in his wheelchair, looking very lonely.
Lucas took a few steps and then came back. "John, let me push you."
John said, "At least you have some conscience."
Lucas teased, "You suddenly brought Ms. White back and lost favor. Who can you blame?"
John suddenly bringing Aurora back had also left Lucas bewildered.
Lucas pushed John inside, and Wade congratulated him, "Congrats, John. Looks like you and Ms. White are getting close."
"Yeah," John responded expressionlessly, not saying an extra word.
In the hall, Helen and Lloyd kept staring at Aurora, liking her more and more.
With dozens of servants standing around, Aurora felt very uncomfortable sitting on the sofa, her smile almost stiff.
Aurora forced a smile, and Helen and Lloyd also forced smiles, making the scene very awkward.
John broke the tension. "Grandpa, Mom, if you keep staring at Aurora, you'll scare her away."
Lloyd and Helen immediately looked away. Aurora smiled, "It's okay, it's okay. By the way, Grandpa, Auntie, I bought some fruit. I hope you like it."
"We like it, we like it."
Lloyd and Helen said in unison, and then Helen added, "Aurora, you must be hungry. Let's eat first. James, tell the kitchen to serve the food."
Dozens of dishes were brought out one after another, and a familiar voice came from the door.
"Am I late?"
