Chapter 180 Meeting Late at Night
Aurora was feeling super irritable; she figured it must be pregnancy anxiety. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm down.
She knew deep down that John wouldn't betray her, but just thinking about Jennifer being at the Meadowbrook Villa made her uneasy.
Aurora frowned. She wasn't usually the jealous type. Stroking her flat stomach, she thought it must be the baby inside her being jealous, not her.
Thinking this way made her feel a bit better.
She headed back to bed. In the middle of the night, her phone rang, waking her up.
Aurora was so groggy she could barely open her eyes. She fumbled for her phone and hung up. A moment later, it rang again.
Aurora got up, super annoyed, and answered the phone without checking the caller ID. "Are you nuts? It's the middle of the night, can't you let me sleep?"
After she finished yelling, there was silence on the other end, or rather, the person didn't dare to make a sound.
Aurora muttered, "Idiot." Just as she was about to go back to sleep, John's voice came through the phone.
"Aurora, come downstairs. I'm outside and I brought you some food." His voice sounded particularly cautious.
"John?" Aurora thought she was hearing things.
From SilverCrest City to here, it would take two hours by plane. How could John be downstairs?
But curiosity got the best of her, so she went to the balcony to look. It was pitch black outside, and she couldn't see anyone.
A cool breeze blew, and Aurora, wearing only a nightgown, shivered from the cold.
Aurora got furious. "John, are you messing with me?"
In the middle of the night, in such cold weather, she actually ran out to check.
John said, "Look straight ahead."
Aurora looked up and saw a light swaying back and forth, probably from a phone.
He really came? Thousands of miles, in the middle of the night, what was John doing here?
John's voice came through the phone again. "Aurora, I can't come over. You'll have to come downstairs. I'm waiting across the street."
Lori and Ava lived downstairs, and this was also a branch of the Wolfpack. More importantly, there had just been an incident with a spy tonight. If John showed up, it would definitely cause a big commotion.
Aurora quickly went back to her room to put on a coat and carefully went downstairs.
Lori was a light sleeper and very alert. Sensing Aurora's slight noise, she woke up.
Lori came out of her room and saw Aurora tiptoeing out. "Aurora, what are you doing out in the middle of the night?"
"Uh?" Aurora stopped, rubbing her head and forced a smile, saying, "I can't sleep, so I'm going for a walk."
Lori looked at the time. "Three in the morning, and you're going for a walk?"
"Yeah, maybe the baby inside me doesn't want to sleep. It's stuffy inside, and I can hardly breathe. The air outside is better, so I'm going for a walk." Aurora couldn't tell the truth.
"I'll go with you," Lori said as she started to change her shoes.
Aurora quickly said, "No need."
Lori looked at her. "Aurora, something's off with you."
"He's here." Aurora didn't hide it anymore. Lori was smart, and she couldn't fool her, so she told the truth.
"John?" Lori said in surprise, "Chasing his wife thousands of miles, coming from SilverCrest City in the middle of the night?"
"Who knows what kind of crazy idea John has. I'm going to check it out." Aurora said so, but she was actually happy inside.
Having a man come thousands of miles just for her, even in the middle of the night, how could she not be moved?
Lori smiled mischievously and reminded her, "Aurora, you're pregnant, be careful."
Hearing this, Aurora's face turned red.
Lori went back to her room to sleep, and Aurora closed the door and went out.
Aurora walked down the path in front of the house and saw a car parked not far away.
The car was shut down, with its lights off. By the moonlight, Aurora could barely see John leaning against the car hood.
Seeing Aurora coming, John's eyes softened immediately. "Aurora."
Aurora glanced at the black sedan and asked, "Did you drive here?"
"The helicopter's parked outside. I didn't want to wake everyone, so I drove the rest of the way," John said, reaching out to hold her hand. "Why are your hands so cold?"
"It's the middle of the night, and it's freezing. What do you think?" Aurora rolled her eyes at him. "Are you nuts, coming all this way?"
Aurora was probably the only one who could talk to John like that.
John took off his coat and draped it over her shoulders, then held her hands to warm them up.
"If I didn't come, you'd stay mad."
Aurora was stunned. John came all this way just because she was upset?
John held her hands, looking deeply into her eyes. "Aurora, don't be mad. Nothing is more important than you. If you don't like it, I'll move to the Lewis Mansion, so you can feel at ease."
Because of a debt of gratitude, John couldn't just kick Jennifer out, so he figured moving to the Lewis Mansionold house was the best way to keep his distance.
Aurora gazed at him. Who could resist such sweet words?
"I'm not jealous at all," Aurora weakly retorted. The coat was filled with John's scent, making her feel warm and wrapped in his presence.
The warmth from his hands reached her heart, making her feel warm inside. Having a man who cared so much for her, how could she stay mad?
What a woman wanted was simply a man who cherished and adored her, keeping her at the center of his heart.
John could handle her moods and emotions, even coming thousands of miles to comfort her. If she kept being petty, she would be the one being unreasonable. She shouldn't be too pretentious.
John smiled, "Get in the car first. I brought you some of your favorite foods."
Hearing about food, Aurora's eyes lit up. "I'm really hungry. Let me see what you brought."
John had prepared a lot of food for Aurora. Aurora's mouth watered. "Fried Fish, grilled chicken wrap, grilled pork ribs..."
All of it was hot and smelled delicious, making her mouth water.
Aurora said, "John, you're the best. You know exactly what I like."
Giving gold and silver jewelry wasn't as good as bringing some food.
This was brought from thousands of miles away, and it was still hot and delicious.
Aurora licked her lips and started eating. She was now pregnant, with another little thing inside her body, so she got hungry quickly.
"Eat slowly," John said, his eyes filled with affection.
Aurora ate heartily, making anyone watching feel hungry too.
"Is the Wolfpack's food not good?" John asked, seeing Aurora's eager eating, amused.
"It's okay, but it can't compare to this," Aurora replied.
These were all five-star hotel quality, of course, it couldn't compare.
Aurora ate until she was full and drank half a bowl of soup. John didn't eat a bite, just watched Aurora eat. Watching Aurora eat was a pleasure. She wasn't like those socialites who ate delicately and pretentiously.
John smiled and asked, "You full?"
"Yes, I'm full." Aurora leaned back in the car seat and rubbed her belly like a lazy kitten.
John cleaned up the leftovers and got back in the car.
Aurora leaned back in the car seat while resting with her eyes closed. With the heater on, it was getting a bit warm, and she had taken off her coat.
After getting in the car and closing the door, John immediately reached over Aurora's waist and whispered seductively in her ear, "Aurora, after eating, you need some exercise to help with digestion."
Aurora opened her eyes, seeing John's handsome face right in front of her.
"I'd love to exercise, but someone won't allow it," Aurora said, wrapping her arms around John's neck, smiling brightly.
Aurora's smile, however, made John's heart race.
After being with John for a long time, she could tell what he wanted to do just by a frown or a blink.
This kind of exercise wasn't ordinary exercise.
"Who?" John, his mind wandering, his Adam's apple bobbing. "No one can stop me from making love to you."
"John, wait..." Aurora said, almost amused by his words.
