Chapter 134 Conducting a Paternity Test
Aurora eyeballed the round blue birthmark behind Summer's ear, thinking back to what Dr. Scott had said about one of her kids having a similar mark. Summer and Loren were twins, and Dr. Scott had mentioned delivering twins. Everything was clicking into place.
Aurora's hands shook with excitement. "Aurora, what's up?" Summer asked, looking puzzled.
Aurora tried to keep it together. "Summer, did you have this birthmark when you were born?"
Loren swam over. "Summer's always had one. Looks like a blue sun, right?"
Summer nodded. "Yeah, I think it's always been there."
Aurora, barely keeping her cool, asked, "Which orphanage did you grow up in? Was it Angel Baby Orphanage?"
Summer nodded. "Yeah, Aurora, how'd you know?"
Loren added, "I didn't say anything either."
Everything matched—the age, the orphanage. Aurora was floored. She turned away, trying to keep her emotions in check. After searching for so long, her kids were right here, and they were awesome.
Aurora cried, finally hugging the two kids. "Summer, Loren."
The kids, confused, gently patted her. "Aurora, what's wrong?" Summer asked, sounding all gentleman-like.
Loren chimed in, "Did John mess with you? Don't worry, Summer will handle him."
Summer said, "I can't take on John."
Loren replied, "Then eat more and get strong."
Aurora laughed through her tears. "John didn't mess with me, maybe it's just sand in my eyes."
Loren said, "That excuse only works on a three-year-old."
Summer nodded. "We're almost five."
Aurora chuckled. "Can you guys stop calling me out? It's embarrassing."
Loren splashed water on Aurora. "Aurora, come play with us."
Aurora splashed back. "Oh, it's on! I'll get you!"
The bathroom filled with laughter as they splashed each other. Summer, at first calling it childish, joined in.
Aurora watched them play, her eyes red again, not sure if the water on her face was tears or splashes. She didn't immediately claim them as her kids; it was too soon. Only a DNA test could confirm it, and she worried they might not accept her right away.
After the bath, Aurora discreetly took some of the kids' hair and kept it. Loren wanted to follow Summer, so she left them both at the Meadow Brook Villa and rushed to the hospital with the hair samples for testing.
She paid extra to speed up the results, but it would still take three to four days. Aurora felt anxious and torn. If Summer and Loren were her kids, she'd have to explain everything to John. The Lewis Family had taken her in when she was alone, but two kids might change things.
Aurora braced herself for the worst. No matter what, once the results were out, she'd own up to the kids. As for her thing with John, she wouldn't push it.
Leaving the hospital, she drove to The Lewis Mansion. As soon as she stepped out of the car, Wade strolled out, grinning. "Ms. White, you and John must be tight. It's late, and you're still dropping by."
"You're here late too." Aurora shot back, walking past him.
"Ms. White." Wade suddenly grabbed her hand. "We're the same. You don't really care about John; you're just in it for the perks. We could team up."
Aurora looked at him, intrigued, and pulled her hand back. "Oh? What's on the table?"
"The mistress of The Lewis Family," Wade said, all cocky.
Aurora laughed. "You're quite the hustler."
Wade wanted to snatch anything that belonged to John, whether it was Jennifer back then or Aurora now. To him, it was all the same game.
"Think it over. I'll be waiting for your answer at Grandpa's birthday bash this weekend." Wade tried to touch her face, but she dodged easily.
Wade laughed, not mad but amused. Aurora couldn't help but worry about John.
As Wade walked away, Aurora headed into the hall, not knowing that Jane had seen their chat from the balcony. Seeing them laugh and talk, Jane felt a wave of jealousy.
Helen saw Aurora and greeted her warmly, "Aurora, you're back. Where's Summer?"
"At the Meadow Brook Villa," Aurora replied. "Helen, where's John?"
"He's playing chess with his grandpa in the backyard," Helen answered.
Aurora was puzzled. 'Wasn't he supposed to be pretending to be weak?'
"I'll wait for him in the room," Aurora said, not wanting to interrupt them.
Helen was thrilled. "Alright, but take it easy. Your health isn't great. Don't rush. I can wait a bit longer to have a grandchild."
Aurora didn't know how to respond. She realized her words could be misunderstood but didn't get a chance to explain as Helen went to the kitchen to whip up something nourishing.
Feeling awkward, Aurora went upstairs. At the corner, Jane bumped her shoulder, saying in a snarky tone, "Sorry, I didn't see you," then went downstairs.
Aurora was confused. How had she ticked off Jane?
Ignoring her, Aurora was about to enter the room when a maid rushed over. "Ms. White, come with me quickly. I found a secret."
