Chapter 435 Only I Can Bully My Husband

Aurora stepped out of the car, staying at the White Villa, watching Jack as John drove away.

After John left, Wendy called Aurora into the room.

"What's going on?"

Aurora looked at Wendy, and instead of answering, she asked, "Mom, do you really think I'd hurt Jack? Or that John would?"

Wendy's agitation faded, replaced by a thoughtful expression.

"You and John aren't like that."

This was Wendy's most honest assessment.

But Jack losing an arm had deeply shocked her.

"Aurora, Jack's only in his twenties. Jessica entrusted him to me on her deathbed. Now he's lost an arm. How am I supposed to explain this to Jessica? He went out with you guys and came back like this."

"Mom, I can't believe Jack lost an arm either. I know it's hard for you, but if I told you Jack did this to himself, you'd find it even harder to believe."

Wendy's expression changed slightly. "How is that possible? He wouldn't just cut off his own arm for no reason."

"Why not?"

Alexander pushed the door open and walked in. "Like father, like son. Richard was ruthless, and Jack is his son. Maybe he inherited that trait."

Wendy glared at Alexander. "What are you stirring up? Weren't you just siding with Jack, believing him?"

"I was just giving John a hard time. When did I say I believed Jack?" Alexander snorted. "My two daughters died because of John. Can't I have a bit of an attitude?"

Ever since Sandra's incident, Alexander had been passive-aggressive towards John. If it weren't for Aurora acting as a bridge, Alexander might have sought revenge against John.

Wendy was annoyed. "Aurora is here. Watch your words."

"Exactly because she's here, I'm saying this. Jack looks like a ruthless person. You women are too soft-hearted, not understanding men. Men will do anything to achieve their goals. Losing an arm is nothing. They'd gamble their lives, let alone an arm. When I founded The Shadow of Darkness organization, I..."

Alexander started recounting his tough journey to success.

Aurora didn't interrupt him. When he finished, she asked, "Alexander, what do you think about Jack being Black Hawk?"

Alexander replied without hesitation, "What do I think? I think I'll sit and watch."

Aurora fell silent, as did Wendy.

Wendy slapped Alexander on the back. "Be serious."

Alexander rubbed his back where he was hit and muttered, "That was hard. I'm old, you know. Be gentle."

Wendy glared at him. "I think you're itching for a fight."

"Threatening me again, huh?" Alexander jumped up. "How am I not serious? How am I not earnest? I'm old. Let the young ones deal with their mess. What else can I do but sit and watch?"

Alexander's words weren't wrong.

Ever since he stopped managing The Shadow of Darkness organization and after Sandra and Jennifer's incidents, Alexander had completely let himself go.

Wendy raised her hand, ready to hit him again. Alexander quickly hid behind Aurora. "Aurora, protect me."

Aurora felt a headache coming on and rubbed her temples. "You two are over a hundred years old combined. Can't you find a more civilized way to interact?"

Alexander peeked out and said, "Your mom's hit menopause. She's been acting up lately. Now she's protecting that snake. I see trouble coming."

Alexander had a big issue with Jack.

Years ago, Wendy was pregnant with twins, and Richard caused the death of one. Alexander naturally held a grudge. No one is a saint, and it's reasonable for this grudge to transfer to Jack.

"Alexander!" Wendy was also furious.

"Mom, you go out first. I'll talk to Alexander."

Wendy didn't want to see Alexander for another second and slammed the door as she left.

Alexander clutched his chest and glanced at the door before sitting back on the couch.

"Dad, tell me, what will make you feel better?"

Aurora's calling him "Dad" stunned Alexander.

This was the first time Aurora called him that. Alexander looked at her in disbelief, pointing at himself with a trembling finger. "Are you... calling me?"

"It's just the two of us here. Who else would I call?"

"You called me Dad. You called me Dad." Alexander's eyes welled up with tears, his nose tingled, and he awkwardly rubbed his thighs. "Aurora, call me that again."

Aurora called again, "Dad."

"Alright!" Alexander quickly responded. "I'm here, listening. I've waited for this day for so long. Finally, it's here."

Alexander's tears flowed freely. To avoid embarrassment, he turned away and quietly wiped his eyes.

Seeing Alexander's reaction, Aurora felt a pang in her heart.

Alexander composed himself and said, "Aurora, listen to me. Jack isn't a simple person. I'm good at judging people. If you say he's Black Hawk, I believe it. Richard was very cunning. Even when he was caught and executed, he didn't struggle. That's very suspicious. People like him always have backup plans. Richard's backup plan might be Jack."

Earlier, when John was present, Alexander had been the loudest in refuting the idea of Jack being Black Hawk. Now that John was gone, Alexander was analyzing the situation rationally.

Aurora pondered and said, "I visited Ironclad Union before. The leader, Black Hawk, had an issue with his left arm. At that time, I concluded Black Hawk was Jack. Now that Jack is back, I can't quite understand his intentions."

"What intentions? He's targeting John." Alexander sneered. "Nightfall is growing rapidly. No one wants to be under someone else. Besides, Richard was sent to prison by John."

Aurora stared at Alexander. "You don't seem confused."

"Who's confused? I'm never confused. You young ones are too inexperienced, playing these schemes like it's a game. Real men don't bother with such tricks."

"I think you have a point. I'll leave Jack to you. You figure out his true nature." Aurora patted Alexander's shoulder. "Prove to my mom who's right."

Alexander rolled his eyes at Aurora. "Why do I feel like my daughter is setting me up?"

Aurora smiled. "It must be your imagination."

Alexander chuckled. Even knowing he was being set up by his daughter, he was willing to go along.

"Aurora, have you ever suspected John harmed Jack?"

"Dad, he's your son-in-law, practically your son. You know John's temperament better than I do. You've dealt with him before. He tolerates your jabs because you're my family."

Aurora took a deep breath and said, "Don't forget how John's father died. That car accident was related to you, yet he never mentioned it. Even though you're my father, you have no right to jab at him. Think about how Sandra and Jennifer died, how my mother-in-law died. If you say you're not confused, then don't act confused. Only I can bully my husband."

Aurora's words were heavy, like a wake-up call for Alexander.
