Chapter 103 Emergency Incident

Emily raised her voice on purpose so Aurora could hear her. She'd never back down in front of Aurora.

However, Aurora ignored Emily, holding Loren's hand, and left with John and the others.

At the parking lot, Todd put his arm around Lucas and said, "Let's go over the Riverside Serenity script tonight. Mr. Lewis, we won't join you."

Lucas gave Todd a look. Since when did they need to review a script? He hadn't even agreed to do Riverside Serenity.

Todd shot Lucas a knowing glance. Lucas finally caught on and said, "Oh, right."

John, pleased with Todd's tact, nodded. "Alright, you guys go ahead."

Todd, still with his arm around Lucas, said goodbye to Aurora, "Ms. White, see you later."

Lucas smiled slightly, indicating his goodbye.

"Yeah, see you," Aurora replied with a smile. "Loren, say goodbye."

"Uncle Todd, Uncle Lucas, goodbye," Loren said politely.

"Little chubby, I will take you out to play some other time," Todd reached out to pinch Loren's cheek.

Loren dodged. "Only my girlfriend can touch."

This amused Todd. "Oh, you already know about girlfriends at such a young age? Impressive."

Seeing Todd and Lucas about to leave, Sophia pointed to herself, then looked at John and Aurora, awkwardly asking, "Should I be leaving too?"

"Sophia, I'll give you a ride," Leo ran out, smiling brightly.

"You? No thanks. I'll drive myself," Sophia snapped at Leo.

Leo had a bad reputation and a past conflict with Sophia. Now, he was on her blacklist. If he weren't Aurora's godbrother, she'd hit him every time she saw him.

"Sophia, come on. You're a guest, I'm the host. As a man, I must show some gentlemanly manners," Leo said, opening the car door for Sophia and grinning. "I'm working at the company now, learning how to manage it. I'm no longer a playboy."

"What does that have to do with me?" Sophia got in the car and sped off, leaving Leo in a cloud of exhaust.

Todd and Lucas also left, leaving Aurora, John, and Loren at the entrance, with Kevin and Ashley handling the aftermath.

John raised an eyebrow at Aurora and asked, "Your place or mine?"

Aurora smiled. "Each to our own home," she said, picking up Loren. "I need to go to the hospital to see Jack."

She'd been spending so much time with John lately that she felt guilty about neglecting Jack.

"I'll go with you," John said, pressing a button to open the car door automatically.

Loren, with his hands around Aurora's neck, pouted. "Uncle John, you just want to be close to Auror."

"You little rascal, Auror is mine."

If they weren't in public and he didn't have to pretend to be injured, he would've taken Loren away long ago, not letting Aurora hold him all the time.

"Auror is mine," Loren huffed, pressing his cheek against Aurora's.

John insisted, "She's mine."

Neither would back down.

"Childish," Aurora said, smiling as she got into the car with Loren.

As soon as Aurora sat down, John said, "Aurora, you drive. My foot hurts."

"What's wrong with your foot?" Aurora asked, a bit worried. "Is it the old injury from the car accident?"

John said seriously, "Probably just overexerted it these past few days."

Aurora's face turned red instantly, and she glared at John. His implication was clear—she had been too demanding lately.

She took the car keys and got into the driver's seat, too embarrassed to look at him. When John saw her blush, his smile deepened.

Once in the car, John took off his mask.

Loren said disdainfully, "Uncle John, you just want to separate me from Aurora."

John did want to separate Aurora and Loren, which is why he pretended his foot hurt. But how could he admit to competing with a kid? It would ruin his reputation.

John ruffled Loren's hair. "I did not."

Aurora, reminded by Loren, realized what John was doing and couldn't help but laugh. "John, you're really childish."

Loren made a face at John.

"Loren, you're very smart, with a keen sense of observation that most people don't have. Such talent shouldn't be wasted," John calmly changed the subject. "Loren, do you want to go to a place where you can become even stronger?"

"No."

Loren refused flatly, "Uncle, you can't separate me from Aurora."

John genuinely wanted to nurture Loren.

Aurora was intrigued and asked, "John, where do you want to send Loren? Abroad?"

"Yes," John couldn't explain the Nightfall organization to Aurora, so he lied about sending Loren abroad.

Aurora drove steadily, recognizing Loren's talent and not wanting it to go to waste. "How long would he need to be there?"

"Maybe a few years," John said carefully, "If you miss Loren, you can visit anytime."

"Aurora, I don't want to go," Loren was very resistant. "Don't send me away. I want to stay with you."

As he spoke, Loren started to cry. "Bad uncle, I don't like you anymore. You want to separate me from my sister, just like they separated Romeo and Juliet."

Romeo and Juliet, really?

Loren cried so sadly, his voice filled with fear. He had finally found someone who cared for him and a home; he didn't want to lose it.

"Aurora, I can't bear to leave you, Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle John. Don't send me away."

Aurora's heart ached when she heard this, and she quickly said, "I won't. I promise I won't send you away."

Since she was driving, Aurora couldn't comfort Loren, so she pretended to sternly tell John, "Don't ever talk about sending Loren away again."

John hadn't expected Loren to react so strongly.

"Little kid, stop crying. I won't send you away."

"Really?" Loren sobbed.

Loren had another reason for not wanting to go; he was looking for his brother. If he went abroad, his brother wouldn't be able to find him.

John said seriously, "I promise."

"No, you have to swear, like on TV. If you break your promise, you'll never marry Aurora, and she'll be my girlfriend."

John was exasperated.

John didn't swear, and Loren was about to cry again.

"Fine, I swear," John said helplessly, "If I break my promise, I'll never get a wife."

Loren was satisfied with that.

Aurora smiled as they arrived at the hospital.

John continued to pretend to be injured, sitting in a wheelchair with Aurora pushing him and Loren walking beside them.

As they walked towards Jack's ward, they suddenly saw two men carrying Jack towards the stairs.

"Jack," Aurora shouted urgently, immediately chasing after them.
