Chapter 147 She Knew It

Jane wasn't getting any love from the Lewis Family. Even though she was back, they hadn't officially welcomed her into the fold.

The socialites, always quick on the uptake, got the message right away.

The Lewis Family wanted to keep the kid but ditch the mom. They still acknowledged Aurora, though.

Jane looked down at her high heels, her face turning red like she'd been slapped. Thinking about the dirt she had on Aurora's love child, she felt a surge of confidence and asked with a smirk, "Ms. White, why are you so late? Didn't John come with you?"

Aurora shot back with a smile, "Why I'm late, isn't that pretty obvious to you, Ms. Torres?"

"Ms. White, I have no idea what you're talking about." Jane played dumb, silently cursing Daniel for being useless and not handling a simple woman.

But maybe it was for the best; without Aurora, today's drama wouldn't be as juicy.

Aurora just looked at Jane, smiling without saying a word.

It was hilarious to see someone so sneaky trying to act all innocent.

Just then, Helen came back from the backyard with Summer and Loren. Loren, spotting Aurora, bounced over excitedly. "Aurora!"

Compared to Loren's bubbly energy, Summer was more of a little gentleman. Dressed in a tiny suit, he walked over and gave the socialites a polite smile. "Hello, ladies."

"Aww, what a sweet boy."

"Whose kid is this? He's adorable."

"He's gonna be a heartbreaker when he grows up."

"And that other boy is so cute, with such perfect skin."

"I just wanna pinch his cheeks!"

"These two cuties make me wanna fall in love and have kids right now."

"Totally, I suddenly want sons."

"Ms. White, whose kids are these? I've never seen them before."

Loren had been at the recognition banquet before, but he'd put on some weight since then, so no one recognized him.

Summer was even more of a mystery since it was his first time at an event like this.

Aurora was at a loss for words, but Sophia jumped in to help. "This one is Summer, Todd's adopted son, and this one is Loren, my adopted son."

Sophia didn't know the real deal between the kids and Aurora, but some things were better left unsaid. Aurora was single, and everyone knew about her thing with John. It wouldn't look good to say they were Aurora's adopted sons.

The socialites didn't question it and showered the kids with compliments.

"These two are so good-looking. How are they so beautiful? Are they twins? They don't look alike."

Aurora said, "They're fraternal twins."

Summer and Loren were brothers?

Jane hadn't known that. It was her first time seeing Loren; she hadn't seen him when Aurora brought him to the Lewis Mansion.

Aurora had fraternal twins out of wedlock?

If Summer was Aurora's son, then Loren had to be too.

What a load of crap about Sophia's adopted son, such a lie.

Jane smiled and casually said, "Really? I do think Loren and Summer look a bit like Ms. White. Don't you all think so?"

That offhand comment got everyone thinking.

With Jane's remark, they all started seeing the resemblance.

Aurora got suspicious. Why would Jane say that?

She didn't mind acknowledging the kids, but not today.

It was Lloyd's birthday; she couldn't let him get embarrassed.

Sophia, confused, said, "Where do you see the resemblance? I don't see it. By the way, I've heard that pregnant women should look at beautiful kids more often so their own kids will be beautiful. Ms. Torres, if you want a handsome son, you should take the chance to look at Summer and Loren more."

Seeing Sophia ruin her plans over and over, Jane secretly fumed but kept a cool smile. "These kids are really good-looking. By the way, Ms. White, who's their mom?"

Jane's constant digs at Aurora were obvious to everyone.

Summer didn't like Jane one bit. Aurora noticed his discomfort and felt a bad vibe from Jane's constant jabs. Spotting Todd, she called out, "Mr. Smith, the air in here isn't great. Can you take Summer and Loren outside for some fresh air?"

The banquet hall was filled with the scent of flowers, so the air was fine.

Aurora was hinting that Jane couldn't say anything nice. She was also worried Jane might actually know something, which could be a problem.

"Summer and Loren, come on, I will take you to get something to eat." Todd waved, holding each child's hand.

Summer and Loren, sharp beyond their years, were unusually cooperative today. They might not get all the adult drama, but they could read the room.

Once the kids were gone, Jane smiled, "Ms. White, why so tense? I was just making conversation."

"Ms. Torres, today is Mr. Lloyd Lewis's birthday, with lots of guests. You should take care of your belly." Aurora shot back coldly.

Both women were throwing shade, each warning the other.

Jane gritted her teeth and smiled, "This is the Lewis Family's first great-grandchild. Of course, I'll be careful. Mr. Lloyd Lewis loves this child so much he's already picked a name."

Jane said this to remind everyone of her importance in the Lewis Family.

As Wade walked by the banquet hall, Jane's eyes followed him. She then smiled and stood up. "Excuse me, I'm going to the restroom. Please enjoy yourselves. With so many guests today, if there's any lack of hospitality, please forgive us."

With that, Jane got up and left. Sophia was fuming. "She's acting like she's already the lady of the Lewis Family. John hasn't even acknowledged her. So what if she's pregnant?"

"Sophia," Aurora whispered in her ear, "Jane's acting really weird today. Follow her and let me know if anything happens."

Sophia gave Aurora a thumbs-up and got up to follow.

The restroom was empty. Sophia quietly approached and heard Jane talking.

"Don't worry. I have the paternity test results in my bag. Once the banquet starts, I'll reveal them, and everyone will know that Summer is Aurora's illegitimate child. She won't have any right to be the mistress of the Lewis Family."

Sophia was stunned. Summer was Aurora's son?

No time to be shocked now; she had to stop Jane.

Sophia realized that without the test results, Jane couldn't cause trouble.

Seeing Jane's bag on the sink, she quickly put a "Maintenance" sign on the restroom door.

Just as Jane finished washing her hands and was about to leave, Sophia swiftly put a black plastic bag over Jane's head.

"Ah, who is it?" Jane screamed in fright.

Sophia quickly shoved her into a stall, grabbed Jane's bag, and used a stick to block the stall door.

Sophia ran with the bag, her heart pounding with nerves as she'd never done anything like this before.

Aurora walked out of the banquet hall and saw Sophia running. She quickly approached. "Sophia, what's going on?"

Sophia stopped, glanced back to make sure Jane wasn't following, and pulled Aurora into a nearby room.

"Aurora, you were right. Jane plans to expose you once the banquet starts. She has a paternity test proving you had a child out of wedlock."

Sophia spoke as she pulled the paternity test from Jane's bag.

Aurora looked at it and frowned. "So, she knows."

"Aurora, is Summer really your son?"
