Chapter 233 Aurora's Fire Destroyed Richard's Hard Work

Lori almost laughed at Jennifer's words. "You mess with my crew and then tell me to mind my own business? What's wrong with you?"

Jennifer's face turned red with anger. "You extorted a hundred million dollars from me before, and I haven't even started to get back at you. Now you're coming at me again? Don't blame me for what happens next."

"That money was yours," Lori said, pretending to be surprised. "Well, it wasn't me who negotiated with you, it was Aurora. She thought fifty million was too low, so she doubled it. Who knew you'd be so gullible and rich? So we could only accept."

Jennifer had wanted Lori to take out Aurora, thinking it would solve two problems at once. But Aurora was fine, and they even managed to squeeze a hundred million out of her.

Thinking back to the negotiation, where Aurora was on the other side of the computer, and she was bidding like a fool for the other's life, Jennifer felt a surge of anger. "Lori, and you two little brats, none of you are leaving here safely today."

Jennifer whistled, and a dozen people stepped forward, each holding a soft baton. "These are elites from The Shadow of Darkness. Let's see how tough you really are," she said. "Get them."

Lori quickly said, "Summer, Loren, step aside."

Lori and Ava were ready for a fight when several beams of white light shone in their direction, and several cars approached.

A man standing beside Jennifer said, "Ms. Johnson, it's Nightfall."

Hearing this, Jennifer instantly became nervous. "You're lucky this time." With that, she left with her crew.

The fight hadn't even started.

Lori called out, "Why are you leaving? Stay and fight a few rounds. I'm itching for a fight."

Ignoring Lori, Jennifer retreated right away. She was bold in private but didn't dare to confront Nightfall head-on. She was already on edge after hurting Helen. If she clashed with Nightfall, she and John would be finished. She couldn't afford to be reckless like Sandra.

Sam arrived, and after seeing Summer and Loren both safe, he let out a relieved sigh. "You two really scared me. What are you doing here in the middle of the night? Come back with me, Ms. White and Mr. Lewis are worried sick."

"Sam, we came to catch the bad guys. Look, Summer and I got pictures of them." Loren proudly showed his phone.

Sam had already seen them on Aurora's phone. Lori and Ava had just arrived and only saw the cars taking the goods away, not Richard. So when they saw the photos, they felt utterly betrayed.

Lori, with her fiery temper, couldn't hold back. After handing Summer and Loren to Sam, she and Ava immediately returned to the Skyview Haven Hotel. They got to the hotel before Richard and waited at his door.

Richard came out of the elevator and walked towards his room. Seeing them at the door, he paused and then smiled. "It's late, why aren't you two asleep?"

Lori said without any expression, "You're not asleep either. Where did you go so late?"

"I was hungry, so I went out for a snack." Richard patted his stomach. "Ate too much, so I walked back."

"You seem to be in a good mood. Where did you eat? How was it? Ava and I are hungry too, maybe we'll go," Lori probed further.

"It's late now, the place is closed. I'll take you another day." Richard said as he opened the door. "By the way, did you need something?"

Lori and Ava followed him in. With a knowing look from Lori, Ava understood and quietly closed the door behind them.

Richard sensed something was off and looked at them. "Lori, Ava, you should head back to your rooms. I'm beat."

Ever since these two moved into the hotel, Richard felt like he was under surveillance.

But Lori didn't budge. She pulled up a chair and sat down. "Richard, did you have your snack at the warehouse tonight?"

Richard's heart skipped a beat, but he played dumb. "What warehouse? I don't know what you're talking about. Go back to your room. I'm tired."

"Don't understand?" Lori crossed her arms. "Richard, you raised me. You know I don't beat around the bush. What were you doing at the warehouse tonight? Those goods are yours, and you framed Jack."

With Lori being so blunt, Richard couldn't keep up the act. "I did go to the warehouse. There are things you don't understand, Lori. I won't harm you. As for Jack, he was too greedy."

"Wolfpack never does anything shady. What you're doing will ruin Wolfpack," Lori snapped.

"Who doesn't want to make money? This shipment is worth ten billion dollars. If we transport it, Wolfpack will be on top again." Richard laughed maniacally. "Lori, I'm going to be rich. You should be happy for me."

Lori just said calmly, "Don't celebrate too soon, Richard."

"What do you mean?" Richard frowned, sensing something bad. Just then, his phone rang. He answered, and a frantic voice came through, "Mr. Lee, the goods are gone, all gone."

"What do you mean gone? What happened?" Richard instantly became agitated. "Where are my goods?"

"Burned, all of it. Ms. White intercepted it and set it on fire."

Hearing that Aurora burned the goods, Richard went mad. He gritted his teeth in anger. "Aurora," he spat out Aurora's name with such hatred, as if he wanted to tear her apart.

After the call, he received a video. In it, Aurora was holding a torch, and his goods were piled in the middle of the road, with someone pouring gasoline on them.

Aurora then threw the torch onto the goods, igniting them instantly.

"No." Richard roared at the screen, trying to stop it. Ten billion dollars went up in flames. Richard was so furious he felt like he could explode.

Lori coldly said, "Richard, you're on your own. From now on, I have nothing to do with Wolfpack."

Lori was decisive. She couldn't stay in a team with different values. She would never work for Wolfpack again. That was who she was, straightforward, never bound by gratitude, never aiding the wicked. Letting Richard go was her way of repaying his upbringing.

As soon as Lori finished her words, she turned and left.

Ava followed, and Richard called out to her. "Ava, you don't believe me either? I raised you for years, never mistreated you. Everything you have is because of me."

"Mr. Lee." Ava was conflicted. On one side was the man who raised her, on the other, her sister in arms. After a struggle, she said to Richard, "The police will be here soon."

With that, Ava left too. She chose to leave with Lori.

Lori was waiting by the elevator, and, upon seeing Ava, Lori let out a relieved sigh. "I thought you were going to side with him."

"We promised to stay together forever." Ava wasn't good at expressing emotions.

Yet her words surprised Lori, who quickly stepped back. "I knew you had feelings for me."

Ava felt a bit speechless.

Meanwhile, Aurora was equally acting decisively.

After burning the goods, she sent the photos Summer took to the police, and this was a major breakthrough. The police immediately went to arrest Richard, but he had fled.

John acted quickly and found a way to clear Jack's name. When a high-quality fake "Jack" stood before Aurora, she found it quite amazing.
