Chapter 199 Aurora's Schemes
Christopher was at a loss for words; he'd tangled with Lori before and lost. Now, with Ava in the mix, he was doomed.
Sometimes, Christopher wondered if Lori was even real; what kind of woman could fight better than a man?
Losing in front of his crew would be humiliating. All he wanted was a one-on-one with Aurora, not Lori.
"What? Chicken?" Aurora smirked. "I was just messing with you guys earlier. We're all like family here, no need to throw punches. Peace brings prosperity, right? You all look beat. How about we call it a day and talk tomorrow?"
Even though Aurora was smiling, she was secretly sizing everyone up. From Christopher's challenge, she could tell he was brave but reckless—easy pickings.
But Robert, who had been quiet, was a different story. He was calculating, and she couldn't quite read him yet.
Hank stepped up. "Christopher, Robert, you guys are out of line. Boss Lee's just in the hospital, not dead. Plus, Wolfpack has a leader now, so what's the point of all this drama?"
Hank was an old-timer in Wolfpack, but he mostly stayed in a branch, so the main crew didn't respect him much.
Robert eyed Aurora. "Uncle Bobcat, Boss Lee suddenly put a woman in charge of Wolfpack. There must be a reason."
Robert's crew started jeering.
"Yeah, look at that delicate woman. What skills does she have to command respect?"
"Wolfpack values strength, not looks. She should step down."
"Boss Lee must be losing it. An old man picking a young, pretty girl."
"Hahahaha!!"
Everyone burst out laughing, including Christopher and Robert.
Hank's face darkened, but before he could scold them, Aurora lazily raised her hand. "Enough talk, Lori, show them how it's done."
"Yes, Aurora." Lori was fed up too. As a woman, she couldn't stand seeing women's dignity trampled by men. This was pure discrimination.
Since they looked down on women, she'd use her fists to show them what "a woman is no less than a man" meant.
Lori quickly threw a punch at Robert, while Ava went for Christopher.
The others backed off, leaving a big open space.
It was all close combat, fist to fist, no frills.
The killing intent was real.
Aurora whispered, "Uncle Bobcat, what do you think are Lori and Ava's chances?"
This was her first battle to take over Wolfpack; it had to be a win.
Hank thought for a moment. "Lori and Ava are agile and experienced. Their combat skills are top-notch. In a one-on-one fight, they have a big edge. Plus, Robert and Christopher are high-status, a bit complacent, and lack real combat experience. They're no match for Lori."
Aurora felt reassured.
Sure enough, after just a few dozen rounds, Lori landed a punch on Robert's cheekbone, making him stagger and get caught by his crew.
Robert lost. He was definitely pissed. Losing face in front of his crew was humiliating. He quickly pulled himself together, trying to mask his embarrassment.
At the same time, Ava kicked Christopher to the ground.
Aurora couldn't help but whistle. "My heroes."
Honestly, with such strong combat skills, Lori and Ava were truly admirable to Aurora.
Lori flipped her hair and sneered, "Can't even beat a woman, what kind of men are you?"
Rubbing salt in the wound.
Robert and Christopher's faces turned red with anger.
Christopher, fuming, shot back, "You two don't even seem like women; you're practically men."
"Say that again." Lori raised her fist, ready to punch him if he did.
Christopher was furious but didn't dare to speak.
Seeing it was time, Aurora spoke into a megaphone, "Alright, enough sparring. Let's call it a day. It's my first day in charge; at least give me some respect."
Hearing her words, everyone was stunned. Did this new leader even know the mess Wolfpack was in?
Wolfpack was a hotbed of internal strife, with everyone vying for control. Who was going to respect anyone?
Aurora continued, "By the way, let me introduce myself a bit more. I'm Aurora, Wendy's daughter, Boss Lee's niece. Honestly, I didn't want this job; my uncle tricked me into it. But now that I'm here, I'm not going to abandon you. I'll make sure we all get along and take Wolfpack to new heights."
She had the air of a leader addressing her team, looking the part.
Christopher and Robert were fuming, practically seething with rage at Aurora's words. They had fought tooth and nail for the leader position, while Aurora waltzed in like it was nothing, acting like she was forced into it. The thought of her taking the position so effortlessly made them want to scream in frustration.
Everyone was dazed and bewildered by Aurora's speech.
"Alright, that's it." Aurora tossed the megaphone to Hank. "Go home and get some sleep."
Aurora walked off, with Lori and Ava following.
Hank, hands behind his back, glanced at Robert and Christopher. "You two are really a pain. Go home and sleep."
With Aurora leaving, the two wouldn't fight anymore. Instead, they both sensed a crisis.
Robert asked, "Still want to fight?"
"No more," Christopher said. "I never thought the Lee family had another successor."
Robert watched Aurora leave and said, "Boss Lee dares to hand Wolfpack to this woman. She's definitely not that simple."
Christopher sneered, "Does she really think leading Wolfpack is easy? She's just a woman. We can't fight her, but there are plenty of ways to make her give up. If we all go on strike, let's see how she runs Wolfpack."
Leaving her with an empty shell, sidelining her completely.
A brilliant move.
Robert smirked, "I'll take my men back to rest."
"Me too," Christopher said determinedly. "Wolfpack will ultimately be mine."
Aurora went back and had Hank fill her in on Wolfpack's situation and business operations in detail.
Wolfpack's business spanned the entire country.
After learning about Wolfpack's situation, Aurora sighed, "Uncle really is something. It takes a certain skill to turn a good hand into a mess."
Lori laughed, "Aurora, if Uncle heard that, he'd need some fast-acting heart medicine."
Hank snorted, "Richard is just stubborn. Without Wendy's help, he couldn't accomplish anything."
Aurora asked, "Was my mom really that amazing?"
"Absolutely, Wendy was the smartest woman I've ever met." Mentioning Wendy, Hank immediately became melancholic. "What a pity."
"Since my mom was so amazing, I can't embarrass her," Aurora said. "Everyone go rest. We have a tough battle ahead."
After the first confrontation, Aurora knew Robert and Christopher were not without skills.
Sure enough. The next day, the two started causing trouble.
Wolfpack had a shipment bound for Country M. The goods and the ship were already at the dock, but no one was loading the goods.
Robert and Christopher both claimed to be sick and refused visitors, and without their orders, their subordinates wouldn't work either.
Hank was anxious. "Aurora, what do we do? If we don't ship the goods soon, we'll miss the delivery time and breach the contract."
"Too insidious," Lori slammed the table. "I'll go drag them to the dock. Ava, let's go."
The two were about to leave when Aurora spoke, "Calm down. Impulsiveness won't solve the problem. They do have some brains, knowing how to hit us where it hurts most. Right now, finding people to load and ship the goods is the priority."
Lori asked, "How do we find people?"
Aurora raised an eyebrow. "With money, you can find people anywhere."
Hank said, "Wolfpack probably doesn't have the money to hire people."
After pondering for a moment, Aurora looked at Lori with a smile. "Dear sister."
Lori felt a chill. "Don't look at me like that. I don't have money."
"Didn't you just make two hundred million recently? Lend it to me for an emergency."
