Chapter 231 Both Missing

Jennifer and Richard teaming up? That really threw Aurora for a loop. She decided not to jump to conclusions and went back to talk it over with John.

When she got back to the hospital, John was already in the operating room, scheduled for surgery that night.

Gary had finished scrubbing in and was ready to go.

"Mr. Collins," Aurora called out. "Why the rush? Wasn't the surgery set for Friday?"

"Someone couldn't wait," Gary sighed. "Ms. White, please wait outside."

"What's the success rate?"

"It was eighty percent, but now... only thirty."

Aurora knew John well enough to understand that once he made up his mind, there was no changing it. "Mr. Collins, I'm counting on you."

"You're not gonna try to talk him out of it?" Gary was surprised.

Most people would wait a few more days to increase the success rate, but not Aurora. She smiled and said, "He trusts you, and I trust him."

Gary paused, then smiled back. "You two really are in sync."

With that, Gary went into the operating room, and soon after, Todd and Lloyd showed up. For such an important surgery, they had to be there.

"Mr. Lewis," Aurora greeted. She hadn't seen Lloyd in a while.

"Aurora," Lloyd said, happy to see her. He glanced at her belly and asked, "How's your health?"

"Pretty good, no need to worry."

"That's good." Lloyd smiled kindly. "Aurora, you've been through a lot. Pregnancy is no joke."

The surgery dragged on, and Aurora thought about Helen's attack. She turned to Todd. "Mr. Smith, any updates on Auntie Helen's case?"

"No." Todd shook his head. "It's tricky, but not impossible."

His words had a deeper meaning. Aurora narrowed her eyes as she asked, "Mr. Smith, do you already know who did it?"

Todd hesitated, then nodded. "Mr. Lewis probably knows too. We're just confirming."

"Who?"

Todd didn't answer directly, just looked at the operating room.

Aurora quickly guessed, "Is it her?"

They didn't say the name, but they both knew who they were talking about.

Todd nodded. "She's highly suspicious, and only The Shadow of Darkness organization could mess with surveillance over such a large area. But that makes her even more suspicious."

Overdoing it made it obvious.

Aurora frowned. "She's teamed up with Richard too."

Todd was shocked. "What's she trying to do?"

"Her target is John, I suppose," Aurora said, understanding Jennifer's mindset. "When you can't have the love you want, you either forget it or destroy it."

Todd was taken aback and sighed, "Women are indeed the most dangerous creatures. To live well, it's best to stay single."

Aurora raised an eyebrow. "I called Lori, she might be here tomorrow."

Todd paused. "Ms. White, I just remembered I have something to do. With Gary here, the surgery will be fine. I won't stay. By the way, I'm handling personal matters this time, and it might take a while. Please tell Mr. Lewis I'm taking a long vacation."

Aurora almost laughed at his reaction. "Mr. Smith, with so much going on at Nightfall, isn't it a bit irresponsible to take a vacation now?"

"This little thing is nothing, Mr. Lewis can handle it."

"Are you that afraid of Lori?"

"I just don't want any conflict." Todd waved his hand and left casually.

The surgery lasted five hours. Lloyd couldn't stay awake, so Aurora let him rest. Even she dozed off while waiting.

When Gary came out of the operating room, he saw only Tyler and Lachlan still standing guard while everyone else was knocked out.

Gary felt pretty helpless. He glanced at John being wheeled out and told the assistant doctor, "Take him back to his room."

After five hours of surgery, Gary needed some rest too.

Tyler walked over and asked, "Mr. Collins, how's Mr. Lewis?"

Lachlan chimed in, "With Mr. Collins, there's definitely no problem."

Everyone at Nightfall thought of Gary as a miracle worker. As long as there was a breath left, Gary could save them.

"The surgery went great," Gary said, then headed off to get some rest.

Aurora woke up groggily and realized the surgery was over. Seeing John still out from the anesthesia but knowing the surgery was a success, she felt relieved. She kicked off her shoes and lay down next to him.

The hospital bed was specially widened, so it was no problem for both of them to fit.

No matter how tricky the situation, a good sleep was necessary.

Lori and Ava arrived in Silvercrest City at noon the next day, showing up in front of Aurora at 10:30.

John was already awake and needed to recuperate. So Aurora signaled Lori to talk outside.

They went to the hallway, and Lori asked, "Aurora, what's going on? Why did you specifically ask me to come?"

"Jack was arrested."

Lori's eyes widened. "So incompetent? He trained for a while, yet he still got caught. I hope he won't say he's my cousin when he gets out." Then she added, "By the way, who caught him?"

"The police."

Lori paused for a moment. "How did the police catch him?"

Aurora briefly explained the situation, and Lori frowned. "Didn't expect him to be so bold."

Ava asked, "What did Mr. Lee say?"

This question hit the nail on the head.

"That's why I asked you to come." Aurora looked at Lori. "I chose to trust you, so you need to be prepared for what I'm about to say."

Richard had raised these two, and Aurora was gambling on whether they would side with Richard.

Lori was straightforward. "Just say it."

"All of this was planned by Richard." Aurora didn't say too much and only mentioned Richard framing Jack as well as her own background. Yet just these two things were enough to prove Richard's ulterior motives.

After hearing Aurora's story, Lori and Ava were quite shocked. Decades of understanding were overturned in an instant, and anyone would be stunned.

Lori wanted to say it might be a misunderstanding, but every word Aurora said was true.

They both fell silent and didn't express their stance.

Aurora continued, "I'm just giving you a heads-up. If he can frame Jack, he might target you too."

Everyone was just a pawn to Richard.

"Aurora, there must be a reason. Why would he do this?" Lori found it hard to accept.

Ava said, "We were all raised by Mr. Lee. Whatever he needs us to do, we will do, even if it means risking our lives. I believe Mr. Lee wouldn't treat us like this."

Lori frowned tightly. "Aurora, I won't tell Richard what you said today, but I need to verify the truth."

"Okay." Aurora nodded. She indeed trusted Lori and Ava, which was why she risked Richard finding out to tell them.

After staying at the hospital for a while, Lori and Ava went directly to Skyview Haven Hotel, which was a way to keep an eye on Richard.

In the following days, Jack's case became more severe. All the evidence seemed pre-prepared, and the police obtained it effortlessly.

If no breakthrough was found, Jack would be heading to prison.

John didn't let Aurora run around for Jack's case and left it to Sam and others.

Aurora, aware of her own physical condition, refrained from acting recklessly despite her anxiety. However, at this critical moment, both Summer and Loren had gone missing.
