Chapter 14: Aurora is Abducted

Nicole and Emily saw John looking at Aurora, and a hint of pride appeared in their eyes.

John must be here to retaliate against Aurora.

Aurora had run away from the wedding. How could the Lewis family let her off so easily?

Aurora felt uneasy under the scrutiny. Just when everyone thought John would make a scene, he looked away and said to Dean in a calm tone, "Let's talk in the study."

"Alright, Mr. Lewis, please follow me," Dean led the way.

Aurora watched them go upstairs to the study and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Aurora thought that although this Mr. Lewis was disfigured and a cripple, he seemed like a good person.

She had used him so obviously just now; she didn't believe Mr. Lewis hadn't noticed.

Aurora felt a bit regretful and sympathetic. She had heard that before the accident, Mr. Lewis was very handsome, with a face that even women envied.

Meanwhile, Emily, unwilling to accept this, glared viciously at Aurora, "Don't think you can ruin the marriage between the two families. The White family is short of funds. Without the Ford family's help, the White family will go bankrupt."

"What does that have to do with me?" Aurora sneered, "It's you who should worry about the White family going bankrupt, not me."

Emily gritted her teeth, "You're also part of the White family, Aurora. If the White family goes bankrupt, it won't benefit you either."

"The White family not going bankrupt doesn't benefit me either," Aurora replied indifferently, "By the way, let me remind you, today you offended Mrs. Ford. I've heard that Mrs. Ford is close to Daniel's mother, your mother-in-law. You should worry about whether you can keep your position as Mrs. Taylor."

"You..." Emily's face turned livid with rage as she nearly lost her mind.

Nicole said coldly, "Aurora, don't be too smug. Don't forget, your child is still in my hands."

She was threatening her with that child again.

Aurora's eyes turned cold inch by inch.

She didn't believe the child was in Nicole's hands; otherwise, she wouldn't just be saying it.

Emily sneered, "Just like your mother, who brought home a bastard from outside, you also gave birth to a bastard..."

"Smack!"

Before Emily could finish her sentence, she was slapped across the face.

Her face was already swollen and hurting, and this slap from Aurora was like rubbing salt into the wound.

Emily screamed in pain, "Aurora, you lunatic, how dare you hit me?"

Seeing Emily get hit, Nicole's eyes were filled with venom, "Aurora, how dare you hit my daughter."

Nicole raised her hand but didn't dare to strike, because Aurora said, "Mr. Lewis is upstairs. If you alarm him, do I need to say what the consequences will be?"

Nicole didn't dare to hit her, her face turning red with anger.

Aurora coldly smiled, took two steps forward, and whispered in Nicole's ear, "I might as well have a good chat with Dad about why you go to Meadow brook every month, who you meet, and what you do."

Seeing a flash of panic in Nicole's eyes, Aurora coldly warned, "You'd better stop targeting me, and don't threaten me with anyone, or you'll bear the consequences."

Nicole and her daughter could only watch Aurora leave.

Emily was so angry she was about to lose her mind, a malicious glint in her eyes, "Mom, I want Aurora to die a miserable death. No matter what method you use, you must teach her a lesson, a harsh lesson."

"Don't worry, Mom will definitely get back at her for you," Nicole said, heartbroken at seeing her daughter's swollen face.

Not long after Aurora left, John also left.

Dean sat in a chair, pale-faced, with John's parting words still echoing in his ears.

Nicole came in with a cup of tea, "Dean, what's wrong? What did Mr. Lewis say? Why do you look so pale?"

Dean snapped out of it, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, and asked, "Where's Aurora?"

"She left," Nicole said coldly, adding fuel to the fire, "Aurora is out of control now. As her stepmother, I can't manage or say anything to her. She just slapped Emily, and her face is swollen and bleeding."

Based on Nicole's understanding of Dean, he would definitely be furious upon hearing that Emily was hit and would teach Aurora a lesson.

Nicole inwardly sneered, waiting for Dean to get angry.

But this time, Dean didn't get angry; instead, he warned, "From now on, don't provoke Aurora. You and Emily should restrain yourselves. Look at the mess you made today. I don't even know how to clean up the mess with the Ford family."

Dean wasn't a fool. He knew that Nicole and Emily often bullied Aurora, but he pretended not to see it.

Nicole was stunned, "Dean, what's wrong with you? Emily was hit, and she..."

"She deserved a lesson. And from now on, just consider Aurora as non-existent in the White family," Dean said impatiently.

He couldn't afford to offend the Lewis family.

Aurora's marriage was not his decision to make.

That was Mr. Lewis's exact words before he left.

After leaving the White family, Aurora hadn't walked far when a car stopped beside her.

It was Mr. Lewis's car.

Sam got out of the car and respectfully walked to Aurora's side, "Miss White, Mr. Lewis would like to see you."

Aurora glanced at Mr. Lewis sitting inside the car. His terrifyingly hideous face showed no emotion.

Thinking about her runaway wedding, she suddenly felt nervous.

Aurora anxiously got into the car. Thinking about how Emily had been slapped, she didn't dare to sit too close and only occupied a small corner of the car, keeping her distance from Mr. Lewis.

"Are you afraid of me?" John glanced at her lightly and patted the seat next to him, "Sit over here."

Aurora forced a smile, "I'm fine here. Thank you for helping me just now... Ah!"

John pulled her into his arms, "Since you're thanking me, show some sincerity."

"What?" Aurora's mind went blank.

"I've married three wives, and you're the first to run away from the wedding. How should I settle this?"

So he was here to settle the score.

Aurora calmed herself, "Mr. Lewis, this is a misunderstanding!"

"So you want to marry me?"

"Mr. Lewis, this is our first meeting. Marriage should be based on mutual feelings. I..."

"Feelings can be cultivated," said John.

Aurora was at a loss for words.

With his face ruined like this, no matter how much she valued inner beauty, she couldn't cultivate feelings.

"Mr. Lewis, a forced marriage won't be happy." Aurora was scared out of her wits. She didn't want to be the fourth wife to die, "Besides, I have a boyfriend. Mr. Lewis, you have plenty of women. You won't make things difficult for a young woman like me, right?"

"I like forced marriages." John pinched Aurora's chin and snorted coldly, "Who's your boyfriend? I'll find someone to cripple him."

Truly ruthless.

She had thought he was a good person before, but it seemed she had judged too soon.

To cut off his thoughts, Aurora put on a determined look, "If you want to hurt him, you'll have to step over my dead body."

This statement shocked John to his core.

He hadn't expected Aurora to defend him so much.

Seeing John remain silent, Aurora added, "My boyfriend and I truly love each other. You can't tear us apart."

John stared at Aurora for a few seconds before suddenly letting her go.

Freed, Aurora secretly breathed a sigh of relief and quickly moved back to her original seat.

"Do you love him very much?"

Aurora, thinking about getting away, blurted out, "I won't marry anyone but him."

As for whether she would marry him, Aurora hadn't thought about it.

An imperceptible smile curved at the corner of John's mouth.

"What do you like about him?"

"I like everything about him." Aurora feared he might think she was rejecting him because of his ruined face and crippled leg, so she added, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My boyfriend is very ordinary, incomparable to you, Mr. Lewis, but I just like him."

John's smile deepened.

The car drove smoothly and soon arrived at Aurora's apartment complex.

Aurora was puzzled, "Mr. Lewis, how did you know I live here?"

She hadn't mentioned where she lived.

John's tone was icy, "It's not hard for me to find out something."

Aurora didn't doubt it. With the Lewis family's power, it wouldn't be difficult to find out where she lived.

Getting out of the car, Aurora walked away faster than a rabbit.

Watching Aurora's departing figure, John couldn't help but smile.

Sam, sitting in the front, was shocked, almost thinking he was seeing things.

The boss smiled?

"Back to the Lewis family," John ordered in a calm tone, retracting his gaze.

"Yes, sir."

Sam had followed John for many years and never asked questions, only executing orders.

Aurora had just returned to her apartment and hadn't even sat down when she received a call from the hospital.

Aurora hurried to the hospital.

The ward was empty, and Aurora panicked.

She immediately asked the nurse, "Where's Jack Walker?"

"He was in the ward this morning, but he disappeared this afternoon, so we urgently called you, Miss White."

It was almost dark.

Aurora, anxious, was about to go out to look for him when she saw a seventeen or eighteen-year-old boy in a loose T-shirt walk in.

The boy was particularly thin, his face pale, but he exuded a rebellious aura, walking with an arrogant stride.

"Jack, did you go racing again? You have a heart condition. Are you ignoring my words?" Aurora grabbed the boy's ear as soon as she approached him.

The rebellious boy immediately became meek upon seeing Aurora, "Sis, easy, it hurts."

Aurora didn't use much force, but hearing him say it hurt, she still let go, "Jack, you can't joke with your life. If something happens while racing..."

Jack had congenital heart disease, and racing was like playing with his life.

"Sis, every extra day I live is a bonus," Jack said with a maturity beyond his years, shrugging indifferently, "I'd rather live fully than wait to die in a hospital."

"Jack," Aurora said, feeling deeply pained.

At seventeen or eighteen, he should be enjoying his youth in school like his peers, but Jack was different. He had congenital heart disease and lived in the hospital, with no certainty about his next breath.

Jack was brought back by her mother and had no blood relation to Aurora, nor did she know his background.

But over the years, she had long regarded Jack as her own brother.

Jack didn't care. He suddenly noticed Aurora's swollen face, his smile fading, "Who hit you? Was it someone from the White family?"

"No," Aurora didn't want Jack to worry about her or to fall out with the White family for her sake.

After all, she couldn't afford Jack's high medical expenses right now. Jack's life depended on Dean.

These years, Aurora had worked hard, hoping to one day take Jack away from the White family for good.

"Sis, after all these years, you still can't look me in the eye when you lie." Jack's eyes flashed with a peculiar light, "I'll make the White family pay for what they owe you."

"Alright, let's not talk about unhappy things," Aurora changed the subject, "How have you been lately? Any improvement?"

"Same as before, not dying," Jack said with a nonchalant attitude, as if he had seen through life and death.

Aurora didn't know what else to say.

Aurora stayed at the hospital until Jack took his medicine and fell asleep, then she left.

It was already ten at night.

There weren't many people around the hospital, and there were few passing vehicles.

Aurora waited at the hospital entrance for a while but couldn't get a cab, so she walked a few hundred feet ahead.

A white van passed by Aurora, then suddenly stopped. Two people got out, one covering Aurora's mouth from behind, and the other lifted her up, dragging her into the van.
