Chapter 226 The Torturous Love Between Wendy and Alexander
Aurora couldn't believe what she was reading.
These letters were definitely from her mom to Alexander, and every word was dripping with love and longing. To her mom, Alexander was the one true love she could never talk about.
Even the letter her mom wrote before she died was full of longing for Alexander. Turned out, the person her mom wanted to see most before she passed was Alexander.
Sadly, she died with that regret, never getting to see him. Before she died, she called Alexander, but it was Jennifer's mom who picked up.
The letter didn't say what they talked about, but Aurora could feel the sadness in every word.
It was a love that could never be spoken of, never be seen, never be thought of, or remembered. A love that went bone-deep, a sickness that reached the marrow.
Aurora felt a sharp sting in her nose, and her eyes started to blur. She was crying.
"Mommy, what's it say?" Summer asked, worried when he saw Aurora's tears.
Ashley was also concerned. "Aurora, what's wrong?"
"These are my mom's things, letters she wrote." Aurora remembered the moment her mom closed her eyes. She looked at Aurora with so much love, but it felt like she was looking through her at someone else.
"Aurora, I went to the market and got some sea fish and a bunch of fruits. I heard they're great for pregnant women," Dean said, carrying in bags and boxes of expensive fruits.
It was the first time Aurora had seen Dean show this much care.
"Aurora, isn't this the redwood box your mom left behind?" Dean noticed the box and the letters on the table. "Did your mom write all these? Let me see if there's one for me."
"Dad, you better not..." Aurora tried to stop him. Each letter would be painful for Dean.
But Dean was quick, grabbing a letter before Aurora could stop him, and he started reading. He skimmed through it, and after reading, his smile froze, but he forced it anyway. "Your mom... she never forgot that guy."
Dean's smile had a hint of bitterness. He had always known her mom had someone else in her heart.
Aurora suddenly remembered something and pulled out the first letter her mom wrote. She opened it eagerly.
[Alexander, our child is born. She's a beautiful girl, her nose and eyebrows look just like yours, and when she smiles, she looks like me. By the way, I named her Aurora.]
Aurora was shocked. She was Alexander's daughter. She really was Alexander's daughter. Richard had lied.
Why did Richard lie? Why did he admit it and then deny it? What was his game? Why did he want her to go after Alexander? What was his plan?
Aurora urgently asked, "Summer, did Jack say where he was going when he left?"
"No." Summer thought for a moment. "But, mommy, I heard Jack take a call. It sounded like he was going to check out some warehouse."
"Warehouse?" Aurora looked at Dean.
Dean quickly said, "I didn't send him to any warehouse. Jack never got involved in the White family business, and I haven't either. I just collect the dividends every month and live a carefree life."
Aurora tried calling Jack, but no luck. She turned to Summer. "Summer, can you track this number? Find out where he is."
Summer frowned. "Mom, it's tough. If he's in a no-signal area, it's even harder."
Aurora opened another letter, hoping to find some info about Richard. She couldn't trust Richard now. The only person she could trust was her mom.
Ninety-six letters, she opened and read each one, feeling like she was living her mom's life and her story with Alexander. She also found out a huge secret from the letters.
'My mom and Richard aren't biological siblings.' Aurora was shocked. Turned out her mom was adopted by the Lee family, and Alexander had left the Wolfpack in anger because her mom had driven him away, sensing Richard had murderous intentions towards Alexander.
But because of this, Alexander resented her mom for a lifetime, thinking she looked down on him and didn't understand him.
Aurora looked at Dean. "Dad, when exactly was I born?"
Dean knew he couldn't hide the secret he'd kept for over twenty years anymore and sighed, "December. When your mom gave birth to you, she was so weak she almost died. The doctor suggested an early C-section, but your mom insisted a full-term baby would be healthier. She stayed in bed for three months until you were full-term before giving birth to you."
No wonder, when her mom brought Jack back, Dean was adamant Jack was her mom's illegitimate child. Since Aurora herself wasn't a child of the White family, how could Dean believe anything her mom said?
Her mom had been pregnant with twins. When she left the Wolfpack, she was forced to abort one, and even the fact that Aurora survived was kept a secret from Richard.
So this was why her mom left the Wolfpack and lived under an assumed name. The info was so overwhelming that Aurora couldn't process it all at once.
At that moment, Aurora got a call from the police. Jack had been arrested.
Her worst fear had come true. She turned to Dean. "Dad, we need to go to the police station."
Summer said, "Mom, I'm going too."
"Okay."
Summer wasn't an ordinary kid. Aurora never treated him as just a five-year-old. Bringing him along might actually help.
Ashley said, "I'll go too. The police might show some respect to the Robinson family."
Dean went to get the car, and Summer, Loren, and Ashley all followed, just enough to fill the car.
As the car pulled out of the garage and they drove out of the villa area, they ran into John at the entrance.
John was dressed in a suit, with sunglasses and a white cane, holding a big bouquet of pink roses by the roadside.
On both sides of the road were a dozen luxury cars lined up, with a red carpet laid out, creating a grand and impressive scene.
Gary stood behind John, temporarily acting as John's "eyes." "Ms. White is coming out." He stepped forward to remind John, then stepped back.
John stood up straight, as tall and upright as a pine tree.
Summer and Loren exchanged glances, puzzled.
Loren asked, "What's John up to?"
Summer said, "Definitely some kind of scheme."
Aurora, anxious to get to the police station, stuck her head out of the car window. "John, what are you doing?"
