Chapter 104 Oncoming Car from the Side

Aurora bolted, and John, forgetting to fake his limp, got up from the wheelchair with Loren in his arms and chased after her.

Aurora reached the ground floor just in time to see Jack being shoved into a car. "Who are you? Let him go!"

The two men exchanged a look and quickly sped off.

Aurora couldn't catch the car but memorized the license plate.

"Who kidnapped Jack? I'm calling the police," Aurora said, panicking. She couldn't believe someone would target Jack, especially at a hospital.

"Don't worry, I'll find him," John said, frowning as he made a call. "Tyler, track this car. The plate number is..."

Tyler soon replied seriously, "Mr. Lewis, it's the Wolfpack."

At the Wolfpack Organization.

John's eyes flashed with a strange glint before it vanished.

"John, what's going on?" Aurora asked, anxious.

"Don't worry, Jack should be fine," John said, his voice deep. "Aurora, can I borrow your necklace?"

"Necklace?" Aurora asked, puzzled, handing it over. "What does this have to do with Jack's kidnapping?"

Aurora remembered John's surprise when he first saw the necklace. Now that John borrowed it, she was sure he recognized it.

Richard had said it was her mother's keepsake. How did John know it?

"Jack was taken by the Wolfpack, a foreign group that hasn't been around here for years. I'll explain more later," John said, taking the necklace. "You should take Loren home. Leave Jack to me."

Aurora trusted John.

She couldn't do much, especially with Loren there.

"Alright, keep me posted."

Aurora watched John leave, then took Loren back to the Robinson Mansion.

On the way, Aurora always had a bad feeling.

Just as she got home, she got a call from Zoey Rivera, the White family's nanny. "Ms. White, something terrible happened. Mr. White is in trouble. Mrs. White came home and had a huge fight with him. He took a knife and said he was going to kill himself. He's even written a will."

Did Dean want to kill himself?

What could drive him to this point?

"Alright, I'm coming over now," Aurora said, hanging up. She glanced at the time; it was almost eleven.

"Loren, go inside. I need to go out," Aurora said, handing Loren to the maid before driving off in a hurry.

At the neighborhood gate, Aurora's car brushed past Leo's as he was returning.

"Aurora..." Leo called, rolling down his window.

Aurora didn't hear him and drove off.

Leo was puzzled. 'It's so late; where is she going?'

Aurora headed straight to the White family Mansion, arriving just before midnight.

The neighboring houses were dark, but the White family Mansion was brightly lit.

Aurora rang the doorbell, and Zoey opened it, looking worried. "Ms. White, please check on Mr. White. I've tried talking to him, but it's no use."

Aurora glanced around the house, which was a mess. The fish tank, TV, and vases—everything was smashed.

"Did Nicole do this?" Aurora asked.

"Yes, Mrs. White brought two men and said if Mr. White wanted a divorce, the assets had to be split equally. Otherwise, she wouldn't agree," Zoey said indignantly. "Mrs. White has gone too far. She cheated first and betrayed Mr. White. How can she demand a divorce settlement?"

Nicole wasn't easy to deal with; she wouldn't agree to a divorce easily, let alone leave with nothing.

Judging by the scene, Aurora supposed that the fight had been intense.

"I'll go upstairs and check," Aurora said, heading up. The door was locked from the inside.

Aurora knocked. "Mr. White, it's me. If you haven't killed yourself yet, open the door."

Aurora still didn't call him "Dad."

A few minutes passed, and there was no sound from inside.

"If you don't open up, I'll call the cops to break it down. When people hear Nicole had goons beat you up, it won't be me who's embarrassed."

Aurora knew how to hit where it hurt.

Not long after, the door creaked open.

Aurora was stunned to see Dean standing there.

Dean's face and neck were covered in scratches, his clothes were torn, and one pant leg was half ripped off. His hair was a mess.

He looked more like a beggar.

Aurora couldn't help but laugh. "Nicole did all this? Quite creative."

Dean's face darkened. "Are you here to laugh at me or help me?"

"I'm here to see if you're still alive," Aurora said sharply. Seeing that Dean hadn't actually tried to kill himself, she felt relieved and stepped into the room. "Usually, you're so capable. How did you let Nicole bring people over to beat you up and not even fight back, hiding in your room to lick your wounds?"

Aurora had really thought Dean was going to kill himself, but when she saw the peeled apple on the table, she twitched her mouth.

So, he was just peeling an apple.

"I was outnumbered," Dean said, sounding somewhat aggrieved as he sat back on the sofa and continued peeling the apple. "Why are you here? Is it about those two kids again?"

"The orphanage was demolished, and the records from a few years ago were burned. The director said those two kids were adopted, and they can't be found for now," Aurora said, "I heard from Zoey that you were making a scene about killing yourself. Where's the will? Let me see how you divided the assets and how much I get."

Dean glared at Aurora. "You're my daughter, and I'm not even dead yet, and you're already thinking about the inheritance."

"Your favorite daughter, Emily, isn't even your biological child. Now, you only have me as a daughter. No, wait, we have no relationship anymore. I almost forgot we severed ties. Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me, so I should just leave."

Saying that, Aurora made a move to leave.

Dean quickly said, "Don't go. This is your home. Are you really holding a grudge against your dad? Even if you're not my..."

Realizing he had misspoken, Dean quickly shut up and lowered his head, nervously peeling the apple.

Aurora frowned. "Even if I'm not what? Could it be that I..."

Dean interrupted, "Even if we severed ties, you're still my daughter. I don't care who your mom had feelings for, but you carry the White name, So, you have to take care of me."

Aurora sneered. "It's a good thing my mom died early. If she heard you say this, she'd be furious."

Dean still doubted her mother's loyalty to him.

"Anyway, you're my daughter. I raised you, so you have to take care of me," Dean said, sneaking a glance at Aurora to gauge her reaction. Then, he cautiously pushed a prepared stock transfer document towards her. "Take a look."

Aurora glanced at it and saw the words "stock transfer" without much surprise.

Aurora continued, "To prevent Nicole from getting your assets, I think you should transfer all your cars, houses, real estate, and funds to me."

When Dean heard this, his head shot up, and he shook it vigorously. "No way. Then I'd have nothing. What if you don't support me?"

"You're really shrewd, handing me a company on the brink of bankruptcy while keeping all the valuable stuff for yourself," Aurora sneered, "If I'm not mistaken, you've drained all the company's funds, leaving just an empty shell, right?"

Dean's eyes darted around, avoiding Aurora's gaze, as he mumbled, "You're so smart, and with the Robinson family supporting you and the Lewis family backing you, you'll definitely turn the company around."

"How do you know the Lewis family will support me?"

"I know all about the charity gala. Don't think you can hide it from me. You and Mr. Lewis have had eyes for each other for a while, haven't you?"

Dean still had his tricks.

Aurora picked up the stock transfer document. "For my mom's sake, I'll take this."

Aurora didn't want to stay any longer. She took the stock transfer document and left.

She was still worried about Jack's safety. As she drove, she planned to call John to check on the situation when suddenly, a van crashed into her from the side.
