Chapter 219 Blind in Both Eyes

Jennifer's words were like throwing gasoline on a fire.

"Happy now? My face is ruined, totally ruined," Sandra cried, clutching her face. Even the slightest movement made the pain worse. Her hands shook as she tried to touch her face but couldn't bring herself to do it.

Jennifer shrugged. "If you don't want the wound to get worse, I'd suggest staying in the hospital and healing up properly."

"I'm not letting this slide. Dad will get revenge for me and take down that witch, Aurora."

Jennifer sneered, "Did you see Dad's reaction earlier? He's feeling all kinds of guilty towards Aurora. If she wanted you gone, Dad might just do it himself. You used to be his favorite, but that might not be true anymore."

Sandra suddenly realized Aurora was Alexander's illegitimate daughter. She remembered her mom telling her that her dad had a true love, Wendy, one of the founders of Wolfpack.

Now, Aurora was suddenly Alexander's biological daughter, making her Ms. Johnson of The Shadow of Darkness organization, and her half-sister. Dealing with Aurora just got a whole lot harder.

Sandra deflated, feeling a pang of regret. She'd acted too rashly. She used to be able to get Jennifer to do her dirty work, but now Jennifer wouldn't be so easily manipulated.

"Take care of yourself," Jennifer said before turning and leaving the hospital.

After Jennifer left, the doctor came in to check on her. Sandra grabbed him, desperate, "Can my face be healed? It can be, right? No matter the cost, I can't have a single scar."

The doctor looked troubled. "The wound is too deep. Even the best techniques might not leave it scar-free."

"You're all useless! I'll kill you all," Sandra screamed, overwhelmed by the news, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Meanwhile, John was in another ward for observation. He was still out cold due to the sedatives and his severe injuries.

John had internal injuries from the robot fight, and when the secret room collapsed, he got hit by debris, making things worse.

Aurora and Summer stayed by his side, while Sam and Tyler guarded the door. Richard, seeing that Aurora was okay, had to leave to handle some urgent Wolfpack business.

At that moment, Lori said to Ava, "Ava, you stay here. I'll go get some food for Aurora."

They hadn't eaten all night and morning in the secret room. Aurora was weak and needed to eat to recover.

Ava nodded. "Okay."

Lori went out to get food and ran into Todd at the elevator. He was coming down from upstairs, also planning to go out.

At the elevator door, Todd looked at Lori, feeling a bit helpless, and sighed, "What a coincidence."

"You think I want to run into you?" Lori shot back, "I'll take you down sooner or later."

Todd smirked, "I get it, Ms. Hernandez, you're so persistent because you like me."

"Impossible! How could I like you? You're shameless. I'll beat you up right now," Lori snapped, clenching her fist, ready to throw down. She'd never been teased like this before.

Todd quickly said, "This is an elevator. I don't want to die here. People might think we're committing suicide together."

His words cooled Lori's anger. The last thing she wanted was to be linked to Todd.

The elevator arrived, and as the doors opened, they stepped out in perfect unison, only to find themselves comically wedged in the doorway.

Lori huffed, "I'll go first, you back up."

Todd didn't move. "Why are you so fat? It's your problem, you back up."

"I'm not fat, I have a perfect figure," Lori shot back, puffing out her chest.

Due to their height difference and being squeezed together, Todd glanced sideways and easily saw...

Suddenly feeling a bit uncomfortable, Todd's ears turned slightly red. In his thirty years, this was the first time he had been so close to a woman.

He cleared his throat. "Your... uh, your figure is a bit... generous."

Lori raised her fist, and Todd immediately acted scared, stepping back. "Ladies first."

Lori strutted out like a queen, while Todd could only give a helpless smile.

They walked to the parking lot. Todd got into his flashy sports car, and Lori couldn't help but roast him, "I don't know if you Nightfall people are too confident or just plain arrogant. With so many enemies, you still dare to drive a convertible sports car around. Aren't you afraid of ending up dead on the street one day?"

Todd got in his car and gave her a provocative smile. "This isn't just any car. When you chase me on the road one day, you'll understand."

Lori rolled her eyes as she got into her car. "I have better things to do," she said, starting it up and speeding off.Todd smiled, glancing in the direction Lori left, recalling their close encounter and feeling something indescribable.

In the ward, Aurora couldn't hold on any longer and fell asleep on the edge of the bed. Summer thoughtfully covered Aurora with a blanket.

John finally woke up in the afternoon, and Aurora was overjoyed. Having gone through life and death, their hearts were closer, and the previous awkwardness was totally gone.

Aurora said, "John, are you okay? Are you feeling alright? Is there any discomfort? I'll call the doctor to check on you."

"I'm fine. What about you?" John's voice was a bit hoarse.

"I'm fine too. I'll get you some water." Aurora wheeled herself to get water.

As she poured the water, John said, "Aurora, it's dark. Why don't you turn on the light?"

Hearing this, Aurora quickly looked at John's eyes. "It's daytime now, John. Your eyes?"

John paused for a moment, instinctively gripping the sheet. He was blind.

Before John lost consciousness, he felt a heavy blow to the corner of his eye.

Aurora wheeled herself to John's side and held his hand tightly. "Don't worry, this might be temporary. I'll get the doctor."

With that, Aurora went to find the doctor, and John tried to rub his eyes, but his vision remained dark.

The doctor soon arrived and examined John, shining a light directly into his pupils, yet there was no reaction.

The doctors exchanged glances and nodded to each other, as if they confirmed something.

Aurora asked, "Doctor, will his eyes get better? Why can't he see?"
