Chapter 118 Hypocritical Woman
All the troublemakers in the Lewis family got kicked out one by one. They left empty-handed, looking embarrassed and angry but staying silent.
With the hall suddenly empty, Wade's expression turned sour. "Grandpa..."
Before Wade could finish, Lloyd clutched his head. "Oh, my head hurts. Helen, help me to my room."
"Yes, Dad." Helen got the hint and helped Lloyd upstairs. "I'll get you some medicine. You need to rest."
The two quickly made their exit.
Wade felt frustrated; it was clear Lloyd didn't want to get involved.
John, who was taught by Lloyd, naturally had his favor.
"Aurora, push me to my room," John said calmly.
"Okay." Aurora pushed John to the elevator.
Sam and Tyler approached Wade. "Mr. Lewis, are you leaving on your own, or do we need to escort you out?"
"I'll walk out myself." Wade's face was twisted with anger as he stormed out.
Seeing Wade leave, Jane anxiously called out, "Mr. Lewis, what about me?"
Lucas glanced at Jane, making her nervous, and she swallowed her words.
Lucas walked up to Jane, looked at her belly, and said, "If I were you, I wouldn't come back. If you want to get involved, be prepared."
"What?" Jane was confused and lost.
Lucas sneered and walked out.
Joseph Lewis had been waiting at the door. Seeing Lucas, he quietly asked, "Lucas, is John really not going to make it?"
Lucas frowned. "Dad, if you want to stay safe, don't be curious about these things."
"I'm just concerned." Joseph laughed awkwardly. "Didn't Jane die? How did she suddenly show up?"
Lucas gave him a look, and Joseph immediately shut up.
"I won't ask anymore," Joseph conceded.
Most people had left the hall, leaving only Jane and a few servants.
The servants were cleaning up, and Jane stood there awkwardly.
John had already announced Aurora as the head of the company, making Jane redundant.
But she wasn't leaving without gaining something.
In this family, only Helen could help her persuade John.
Thinking of this, Jane went upstairs.
In the third-floor bedroom, Aurora sat on the sofa, staring at John. "What's the deal with the child in Jane's belly? Is it yours?"
"No." John didn't hesitate to answer. "Only you can have my child; no one else is qualified."
Aurora's expression softened, and she smiled. "What are you planning to do?"
John hadn't thrown Jane out, nor had he said to keep her, and he hadn't acknowledged the child. Aurora couldn't figure out his intentions but believed John wasn't lying; the child wasn't his.
"Jane was brought back by Wade. He probably knows I don't have long to live and wants Jane to inherit my estate."
"So the child is Wade's? You got cheated on?"
Aurora's tone had a hint of schadenfreude.
John laughed. "Why do I feel like you kind of want me to be cheated on?"
Aurora played along. "If Jane didn't have something to do with Wade, how could she come back?"
But she was still puzzled. "I heard Mr. Smith say that Jane was personally chosen for you by Grandpa. How did she end up with Wade?"
"He spilled pretty quickly." John snorted. "What else did he say?"
"He said..." Aurora stopped and looked at John. "I want to hear it from you. Jane is your ex-wife. Now that she's back, you can't just leave her hanging."
John coughed weakly, covering his mouth. "I'm a patient right now."
He was implying he needed rest and couldn't handle any issues.
Aurora felt a bit helpless.
"Stop pretending," she said, glancing at him.
John looked innocent. "Aurora, all Lewis family matters are in your hands. Whether Jane stays or goes is up to you. Keeping her here can help us keep an eye on Wade. But you have to handle it."
'What a way to dodge responsibility. This John really is cunning,' she thought.
Speak of the devil, Jane's voice then came from outside the door. "John, Ms. White, I brought you some fruit."
John and Aurora exchanged glances.
John quickly lay back on the bed, and Aurora walked out, blocking Jane from entering.
"He's asleep and doesn't need any fruit. I'll take it," Aurora said.
"Then let me see him. I want to talk about the baby..." Jane craned her neck to look inside.
Aurora closed the door behind her, smiling. "He's asleep and said he won't see anyone except me."
Jane knew she couldn't get in. She looked at Aurora, holding her belly, and said softly, "Ms. White, I know I came back suddenly, and I'm pregnant with my husband's..."
"Who is your husband?" Aurora's smile turned colder.
Legally and factually, Jane wasn't John's wife.
The Lewis family had found several wives for John over the years, but none had registered for marriage or held a wedding ceremony. In essence, they didn't have any official status.
Jane's expression turned awkward, and she quickly corrected herself, "I mean Mr. Lewis."
"Ms. Torres, you're quite smart. You and John are history. The woman by his side now is me. Whether you stay or not is up to me."
Aurora said this, but in her heart, she cursed John for dumping such a difficult task on her, making her feel like a bully.
Jane was tactful, knowing she couldn't argue with Aurora at this moment. So she smiled. "Ms. White, I understand. I have no other intentions. But since I'm carrying Mr. Lewis's child, the bloodline of the Lewis family shouldn't be left out in the cold, right, Ms. White?"
Hearing this, Aurora looked at Jane meaningfully. Jane, who seemed soft and weak, was not as easy to deal with as she appeared. She was using her pregnancy to threaten her.
"You should hope you're really carrying John's child," Aurora said with a double meaning, "By the way, don't come to this room unless necessary. Your room is on the second floor."
"Ms. White, what do you mean by that?" Jane was unhappy. "You can't accuse me this way. I'm not trying to compete with you for Mr. Lewis. Why are you being so harsh?"
"Sorry, I'm just straightforward. If you don't like it, stay in your room and don't come out to avoid getting upset," Aurora said as she turned to go back to the room.
"Ms. White." Jane suddenly grabbed Aurora's arm, looking extremely aggrieved, tears welling up instantly, her expression turning pained. "My belly hurts so much, Ms. White. Don't drive me away. Even if you don't like me, I'm carrying the Lewis family's child. Why would you harm my child?"
Jane's face grew paler, and she slowly squatted down, looking pained.
Aurora was stunned by this sudden act.
"When did I harm your child?" Aurora exclaimed.
"Jane, what's wrong?" Helen came out and saw Jane sitting on the floor.
Jane's face was pale, her voice pained. "Mom, my belly hurts so much. Is the baby in danger?"
"What happened? Don't be afraid, I'll take you to the hospital." Helen was a bit flustered.
Jane weakly said, "Mom, don't blame Ms. White. She was just upset when she heard I was carrying the Lewis family's child and pushed me."
Aurora couldn't help but want to curse.
This woman was lying.
