Chapter 311: The Cake Shop

Todd's face turned red as Aurora stared at him.

The kiss just now lasted only a few seconds, but it was his first kiss. Thinking back on it, it wasn't that bad; in fact, it was surprisingly soft.

Lori, with her tomboyish personality, had unexpectedly soft lips and a sweet scent.

Seeing Todd's face turn red, and recalling the scene of Lori running out of the training room in a panic, Aurora guessed, "You and Lori, you two didn't... did you?"

"No," Todd quickly denied. "Mrs. Lewis, I'm going back to sleep."

"Why are you leaving? You must be hiding something," Aurora grabbed Todd and said, "I only have one sister, Lori. If you dare to bully her, don't blame me for being harsh."

"Mrs. Lewis, do you really think that's fair?" Todd moved his shoulder and replied, "She broke both of my arms. Who's bullying whom here?"

Aurora coughed a few times, feeling a bit guilty about his broken arms. "Don't change the subject. I'm asking about just now. Lori ran back crying; you must have bullied her."

The crying part was pure nonsense from Aurora.

"Crying?" Todd was shocked. "No way, it was just a kiss. Did she really cry?"

"You kissed?" Aurora's voice suddenly rose in excitement.

Todd quickly spoke, "Mrs. Lewis, keep it down, shh."

He was feeling very guilty.

After her initial surprise, Aurora looked at Todd with a smile. "Not bad, you've got potential."

Todd continued, "Mrs. Lewis, this is definitely a misunderstanding. To be precise, Lori kissed me forcefully. I'm the victim here."

"Hurry up, I want to hear the whole story," Aurora was very excited and curious. "Details, please."

Aurora pulled Todd to sit on the living room sofa. She sat opposite him, looking at Todd, waiting for him to explain.

Todd felt that such an embarrassing thing was hard to talk about.

Todd didn't dare to look Aurora in the eye. After stammering for a while, he voiced, "I almost fell just now, Lori pulled me, and then we kissed."

Aurora waited for more, but there was no more.

Aurora blinked, looking unsatisfied. "That's it?"

"That's it."

"Todd, you missed such a good opportunity," Aurora felt bored.

She shouldn't have expected Todd to do anything earth-shattering.

Todd shivered, "Mrs. Lewis, don't set me up. Is this really a good thing? She'll definitely give me trouble later. I think I should leave tonight."

"Stop right there." Aurora stood up and blocked Todd. She was curious, "Isn't Lori beautiful enough?"

"Beautiful."

Todd couldn't lie; Lori's looks were impeccable.

Aurora: "Isn't Lori gentle enough?"

Todd thought it was a joke. "Mrs. Lewis, what do you think?"

Could a gentle person punch a sandbag for over an hour?

Even Aurora felt that Lori and gentleness didn't go together. She changed the topic and asked, "If you don't like Lori, why did you make her think you and Allan are in that kind of relationship? If you don't explain today, I'll tell Lori you two aren't a couple. Allan has a good family background, good character, and he's capable. Most importantly, he's Lori's type. They'd be a perfect together."

Todd deeply felt that Aurora was trying to sell Lori to him.

"I was afraid Lori would mess with Allan," Todd explained earnestly. "Allan and I are brothers. I can't just watch my brother get bullied. If anyone marries Lori, their home will be in chaos."

Aurora's face darkened. Insulting Lori in front of her, was he out of his mind?

Aurora poked Todd's cast-covered hand and exclaimed, "You deserve it. If I were Lori, I'd hit you even harder."

"Mrs. Lewis, it hurts, please be gentle," Todd cried, holding his hand.

Aurora poked him harder and then turned to go upstairs.

Todd muttered, "They really are sisters, both so ruthless."

After Aurora left, Todd sat in the living room for a while. He didn't know how long had passed. When he went back to his room, he saw Summer standing behind him.

Todd was startled. "Summer, does your whole family like to appear out of nowhere? Why aren't you sleeping in the middle of the night? What are you doing here?"

"Todd, you really are a lost cause," Summer said, sounding way too grown-up. "It's just as well. If you became my uncle, it would be super weird."

Todd sighed, looking out at the night. "Summer, you're still young. You don't understand the adult world."

Todd paused, then chuckled wryly. "Actually, I don't understand it either."

He hadn't figured things out. He liked to provoke Lori; it seemed to have become a habit. Wherever Lori was, it was completely different.

She was like a pot of boiling water, making everyone around her boil too.

He really didn't want Lori to get close to Allan, but he hadn't thought about changing his relationship with Lori.

He felt that things were fine as they were.

The next day.

Todd disappeared. Lori just muttered something that no one heard, then went on a mission with Ava to the police station.

John followed Aurora back to the Lewis family to recover. He hadn't seen Trey and Jax for a while and missed them.

As soon as he got home, John held a child in each arm and couldn't help but sigh, "Honey, wouldn't it be great if they were both daughters?"

Aurora came over with baby formula. "Give up on that idea. You're just not destined to have daughters."

The two kids seemed to understand that their father was complaining about them and rolled their eyes.

John laughed, "Honey, look at them. Their temper is just like yours, never willing to suffer a loss."

Aurora rolled her eyes at John too. "You take care of the kids. I'm going to the company."

John was the legal representative of the company, but Aurora held the most shares.

With John stuck at home recovering, Aurora had to go to the company.

John watched Aurora drive off in her Porsche. Looking at the two kids in his arms, he suddenly felt that staying home with the kids was pretty good.

Aurora went straight to the company. After parking the car, she was about to go upstairs when she accidentally saw a familiar face.

Not far away, Wade was handing out flyers. When he got tired, he sat on the flower bed to rest.

Aurora stood and watched for a while, then walked over.

"New store opening, please support us..." Wade handed out a flyer. When he looked up and saw it was Aurora, he stopped mid-sentence.

Aurora spoke, "Give me a flyer."

Wade hesitated for a moment, then handed Aurora a flyer. "New store opening, we've got discounts."

It was a cake shop.

Aurora asked, "Is it yours?"

Wade nodded. "Yes."

Aurora was quite surprised that Wade had opened a cake shop.

"Do you have any plans to do something else?"

Wade smiled sheepishly. "Not for now. Compared to John, I'm far behind. He managed to bounce back just a month after the Lewis family went bankrupt. For me, opening a cake shop is already a big deal."
