Chapter 388: Breaking Up a Fight
Lori hung up the video call, and the air around Aurora felt like it had turned to ice.
Aurora coughed a few times awkwardly, "Todd, you're here. What's up?"
Todd standing at the staircase was quite intimidating.
"Aurora, John asked me to tell you that he won't be back for dinner tonight."
"That's it?"
Did Todd really need to come all the way here just to deliver a message?
Before Aurora could say anything, Todd turned and walked down the stairs. His back looked so forlorn that it made one feel sad.
Aurora thought Lori was indeed in the wrong here. It was irresponsible of her to just leave like that. As Lori's sister, she couldn't be too unreasonable.
"Todd, wait a minute."
Aurora softened and called out to Todd.
Hearing her, Todd's lips curled up, and a sly glint flashed in his eyes.
When he turned around, he put on a pitiful look.
"Aurora, is there anything else?"
"Lori is in Sunrise City. Her next stop is probably to see the aurora. That's all I know. I can't help with anything else."
Aurora had just seen the name of the hotel behind Lori in the video, which was the hotel by the beach in Sunrise City.
"Aurora, thanks."
Todd walked away briskly, his steps quick.
Just as she resolved this issue, another problem cropped up.
Her phone rang again.
This time it was from Dean, speaking in a hushed tone, as if he were sneaking around in broad daylight: "Aurora, come quick. Your parents are serious this time. They're fighting, and they've even pulled out knives. Samuel and I don't dare to intervene."
Aurora was speechless.
Could she ever catch a break?
They were over a hundred years old combined, yet they still made her worry endlessly.
"Summer, Loren, take care of your brothers. I need to go to your grandparents' house." Aurora called out.
Summer and Loren immediately came out of their rooms.
Summer, acting very mature, "Mom, you go ahead. We'll take care of our brothers."
The two brothers were leaving in a few days and were reluctant to part with their younger siblings. They wouldn't let Aurora or the nanny intervene when they could spend time with their brothers.
"Alright, I might be back late. I'll call your dad to come home early."
After giving instructions, Aurora drove to The White Villa.
On the way, she called John, asking him to come home early to take care of the kids.
The White Villa.
Dean and Samuel stood outside, listening to the chaos inside, not daring to go in.
From time to time, they could hear Alexander's cries of pain and Wendy's furious shouts.
Dean looked up at the house, even the birds had flown away in fright.
Dean wondered, "My wife used to be so gentle, speaking softly. How did she change so much?"
"Your wife?" Samuel squinted his eyes, full of menace.
"Slip of the tongue, ex-wife." Dean quickly corrected himself, feeling very frustrated. His ex-wife had just returned, and he hadn't been happy for a few minutes before Alexander and Samuel moved in too.
Ex-husband, ex-boyfriend, male friends, all living under one roof. If another one came, they could play bridge together.
When Aurora arrived, she saw Samuel and Dean standing outside and asked, "What's the situation?"
Samuel calmly replied, "No more noise. They must have settled it."
Just then, the door opened.
Wendy walked out, looking refreshed, not a hair out of place. She wore a dress, looking elegant and graceful, with a dignified and proper smile on her face, like a true lady.
It was a particularly beautiful scene.
When Alexander appeared, the whole picture was ruined.
Aurora couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Alexander was beaten black and blue, his clothes torn to shreds, one shoe missing, and only one pant leg left.
Dean and Samuel couldn't help but laugh too. Wendy had really gone all out.
Alexander covered his face, his eyes swollen, feeling deeply embarrassed. At his age, he looked like a pitiful man completely dominated by his wife.
Aurora couldn't help but ask, "Mom, what did Alexander do to upset you this time?"
"Ask him." Wendy, still angry, glared at Alexander.
Alexander muttered softly, "I accidentally let it slip that I almost married you as my ninth wife. Your mom went ballistic. It's not my fault. How was I supposed to know you were her daughter back then?"
Aurora was speechless. This was a disaster.
Almost marrying his own daughter was absurd enough, and as the ninth wife no less. No wonder Wendy was furious.
From beginning, Wendy had only ever had Alexander, while Alexander had married eight wives. The number of women he hadn't married was countless.
Women cherish a certain purity in this regard, regardless of age.
What woman didn't want the man she loved to love only her for a lifetime?
Wendy glared at Alexander, "Pack your things and get out. I don't want to see you."
With that, Wendy walked back inside.
"Mr. Collins, please treat Alexander's injuries."
Aurora had brought Gary along this time.
Alexander praised, "Aurora, you really think ahead. You still care about me."
"Don't be too touched. I brought Mr. Collins to treat Jack. Treating your injuries is just a side task."
Alexander was stunned.
Aurora's words were too harsh.
"Aurora, where's your mom?"
"I'll go check on her."
At this point, only Aurora could persuade her.
Wendy was sulking in the bedroom. Aurora knocked on the door and walked in with a smile, "At your age, you're still so fiery. Aren't you afraid of straining your back? Mom, I always remember you as gentle and graceful."
The Wendy of the past was like a gently flowing stream, but now she was like a tsunami.
"It's your dad who brought out the real me."
She was so angry that she couldn't even find the right words.
Aurora chuckled, "Mom, you've got your exes, ex-husband, and male friends all together. If you bring Richard out, you could have a full table for bridge."
"You cheeky child." Wendy was amused, "Dean and I made it clear back then. I would manage the company and elevate the White family's status, and he would give me a place to stay. If he wanted to marry someone else, I was fine with it. As for Samuel, we're just friends and family."
Back then, Wendy just needed a status and wanted to give Aurora a complete family, so she chose Dean.
"Did you know about Dean and Nicole back then?"
"I never interfered in his personal affairs."
In other words, whether she knew or not didn't matter.
Mentioning Richard, Wendy felt a bit melancholic, "What did the police say?"
"I asked John. Richard will be executed by firing squad tomorrow morning."
"Firing squad?"
Wendy was still a bit shocked, "He ultimately reached this point. It's just a pity for Jack and Lori."
Just as Wendy finished speaking, Dean's voice came from outside.
"Jack, what are you doing standing at the door?"
