Chapter 203 Ms. White is Mischievous Again
Lori rubbed her hands together and said, "Setting up dinner is easy, but Aurora, those folks are tough. They're all seasoned and sly. You sure you can handle it?" As Lori said this, she shot a quick glance at John, who was busy cleaning up the dishes.
When it came to business, John was pretty sharp.
"I have to try," Aurora said. "Lori, can you lend me some more cash? We need to send some gifts to those distributors tonight."
Lend more money? Lori clutched her wallet tightly. "No money."
Aurora rolled her eyes. "You let John in, and now you say you have no money?" She didn't know how much John had bribed Lori, but it was definitely a lot.
Lori sighed, "Aurora, you and your husband are too stingy. I just got the money; let me enjoy it for a bit."
"He's not my husband. We have nothing to do with each other," Aurora corrected. "Hurry up and set up the meeting. This can't be delayed. If they don't come, use a bit of force."
Using force to solve problems was exactly Lori's style.
Lori took a glance at John and started signaling again. Anyway, she would get John to reimburse her for this money.
John blinked, indicating his agreement. Only then did Lori smile and head out with Ava again.
Ava asked, "You were signaling again just now? What did you say this time?"
Lori laughed, "All expenses will be reimbursed by John. Haha, I'll overcharge a bit then and make some extra money."
Ava said softly, "You trick the money out of John, and soon Aurora tricks it back from you. I feel like this is a conspiracy."
Lori instantly realized. "They are definitely in cahoots, too stingy."
Despite her words, Lori wasn't someone who didn't see the bigger picture. Wolfpack needed restructuring, and there were many troublesome matters. She would contribute money and effort as needed.
The two went to contact the distributors, while Aurora prepared herself. She needed clothes to deal with those people in the evening.
John took the opportunity to say, "Aurora, I'll go with you."
"You, the leader of Nightfall, get involved in Wolfpack's affairs? That's inappropriate," Aurora flatly refused.
"Since Wolfpack's matters are your matters, they are my matters too. Lori and Ava can fight, but they can't handle those distributors and clients. You're also pregnant and shouldn't overexert yourself. Take me with you, and I'll give you advice, how about that?"
Aurora knew that taking John along would make things much easier, but she still felt a bit resentful and needed a good reason to justify it to herself.
Seeing Aurora was considering, John immediately continued, "Aurora, my knee still hurts. If you don't want me to speak later, I won't say a single word. I'll do whatever you ask me to do." He reached out and slightly tugged at Aurora's sleeve. "Aurora."
That "Aurora" almost made Aurora's bones go soft. It was so unlike him.
Aurora said irritably, "As the head of Lewis Group and the leader of Nightfall. Now you act like a child. Seriously, what are you doing?"
John gave a bright smile. "When I'm with you, I'm not the head of Lewis Group or leader of Nightfall. I'm just a driver, your boyfriend, and the father of our child."
In front of her, he was willing to give up all his titles and just be a simple, ordinary person. He could give up everything.
John had always been clear about what he wanted. When Aurora drove away in anger, he realized even more that he couldn't live without her.
Since John had said so much, Aurora went along with it. She cleared her throat and said, "Alright, you can come, but this doesn't mean I've forgiven you. I'm just temporarily hiring you as my advisor."
"No problem." John wasn't in a hurry to completely appease her. He would take it one step at a time.
Aurora glanced at John's knee. "You really go all out."
John smiled wryly. He didn't have much of a choice.
Night fell.
Moonview Restaurant, Narcissus Pavilion private room.
Four distributors and a bunch of long-time clients of Wolfpack were invited. The big round table had twenty seats, just enough for everyone.
The distributors and clients all looked pretty ticked off. They were mad but didn't dare show it. It was clear they had been "persuaded" before coming.
Lori and Ava stood on either side behind Aurora, while John sat next to her, wearing glasses to look more refined. It was actually because his presence was too strong, and he didn't want to intimidate the distributors and clients, so he wore glasses to tone it down.
Aurora smiled as she ordered the dishes, then she looked at everyone. "Relax, I'm not here to bite. By the way, you might not know me. I'm Aurora White, the new leader of Wolfpack. From now on, I'll be handling all of Wolfpack's affairs."
As she spoke, Aurora took out the necklace symbolizing the leader of Wolfpack. She placed it on the table and spun the turntable. The necklace passed under everyone's eyes, and they all looked closely.
It was indeed the token of the Wolfpack leader.
One of the distributors spoke, his tone full of anger, "Ms. White, why did you call us here? We have no grudges against each other. We are all people of status in this circle. Inviting us in this manner disrespects and embarrasses us."
Aurora stood up and smiled. "My two sisters were indeed a bit heavy-handed. I apologize to you."
Aurora's attitude was very good, and she personally poured wine for everyone while keeping a smile, looking very approachable.
John sat quietly beside her, calmly drinking tea, lowering his presence. When he wasn't needed, he could be Aurora's background support. When he was needed, he would definitely protect her.
The distributors were still angry. They were all successful men in their fields, with many accolades. They didn't take Aurora, a beautiful woman, seriously at all.
Aurora poured herself a glass of water, then raised it, remarking, "I've been feeling under the weather lately, so I'll use water instead of wine. Here's to everyone. I'm new to this circle and will need your guidance in the future."
"Ms. White, this shows no sincerity. We men drink wine, yet you drink water."
"If you're not feeling well, go rest. Is there really no one else in Wolfpack to handle this?"
The tone was full of contempt.
"I heard Mr. Lee of Wolfpack had an accident recently. Is it true that he's going to die?"
"Even if Mr. Lee is not well, Wolfpack still has Robert. I've only met him and only recognize him. I don't acknowledge anyone else."
Hearing those words, Aurora glanced at the speaker. A fierce-looking man in his fifties, one of the distributors working with Wolfpack, named Virgil Newman. It seemed he was on Robert's side.
Aurora looked at everyone present, her gaze gradually growing colder. Although she was still smiling, it was no longer a warm smile.
She put down her glass and raised her eyes, exuding authority, "Since none of you want to cooperate with Wolfpack, I won't waste words. All contracts are terminated starting today."
Everyone was shocked.
Someone sneered, "Ms. White, given Wolfpack's current situation, this is not the time for you to be so reckless. Terminating the contracts would cost you ten hundred million dollars in breach fees. Can you afford that?"
Aurora frowned disdainfully. "Only ten hundred million dollars?"
Only? Given Wolfpack's current state, they couldn't even come up with a million dollars. These distributors and clients had already investigated Wolfpack's situation. No one believed Aurora would really terminate the contracts.
However, they were soon embarrassed.
