Chapter 351: The Three Receive News of the Child's Whereabouts Simultaneously
The child in Clio arms wasn't just a child; it was a thorny problem.
Clio was scared to death.
The baby kept crying, and Clio struggled to soothe him. Paul, irritated by the crying, shouted, "Make him stop crying."
"How can I calm him down? He's probably hungry." Clio was sweating from the baby's fussing. Anxiety gnawed at her; if the crying drew attention, they'd be in serious trouble.
Paul, growing impatient, spoke, "If he's hungry, feed him."
"I don't have any milk. The formula is at home." Clio felt wronged by his shouting.
Jax was crying intensely, his wails piercing and infuriating.
At that moment, Paul's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, he answered uickly, "When are you coming to pick up the child? I only agreed to take care of him for a few days."
"Tomorrow night at ten. Bring the child to the dock; someone will meet you there." The voice on the other end was a hoarse female voice, not pleasant to hear.
After speaking, the call ended.
Paul saw the child's face red from crying, and his anger flared. He took the child in his arms.
Paul yelled at the child, "I told you to stop crying. If you cry yourself to death, it's not my problem."
Paul was rough, and Jax kept crying. In a fit of anger, Paul reached out to pinch Jax.
"Paul, what are you doing?" Clio was shocked and quickly took the child back. "He's just a baby. Why are you taking it out on him?"
Clio tried to soothe the baby, still shaken by Paul's actions.
"Then make him stop crying. His crying is driving me crazy." Paul's face darkened. "Blame his mother, Aurora. She played me, and now she'll pay for it."
Men could be very vengeful.
Jax cried until he was exhausted and finally stopped.
In the villa, Trey ate his fill and then fell asleep.
Aurora watched Trey, silently shedding tears. Trey had someone to comfort him when he was hungry and crying, but what about Jax?
Where was Jax? How was he now? Who was comforting Jax if he was hungry, thirsty and crying?
Hearing footsteps, Aurora quickly wiped away her tears.
John entered the room. "Aurora, is Trey asleep?"
"Yes." Aurora composed herself and asked, "What's the situation on your end? Any leads?"
"Angela lied. I sent Sam to find her. We should have a lead soon." John couldn't wait any longer. Angela definitely knew who took the child. If she wouldn't talk, they would find another way.
"OK." Aurora said no more, her eyes fixed on Trey.
"Mr. Lewis." Todd knocked on the door.
John glanced at Aurora and went to the study with Todd.
Todd spoke, "The Cooper family has fallen."
"Good." John wasn't surprised. If Nightfall couldn't handle this, they shouldn't be in the game.
"Sandra has left no trace. A person can't just disappear." John frowned. "There are only two possibilities: either she's no longer in this world, or she's changed her identity."Wendy and Alexander's fake deaths had given John a clue. Sandra could have changed her identity and gone into hiding.
Sandra was an international fugitive. If she showed up, she'd be caught.
But the police had no news, so this was a strong possibility of changing identity.
Todd pondered, "Mr. Lewis, did Sandra really do this?"
"Both Aurora and I think so. We can't think of anyone else." John replied.
John was always clear about his actions. He had those people brought in for questioning to warn others about the consequences of messing with the Lewis family.
Todd sighed, "Mr. Lewis, if Sandra did this, do you think Jax is okay?"
With a severed limb sent, the child couldn't be in good shape.
John's eyes darkened. "I can only be sure the child is alive. Otherwise, she would have sent Jax's body."
"Then what does she want? Why take the child? If it's about you, she should have contacted you by now. What's the point of hiding? It's driving us crazy."
"She wants to torment Aurora and me, making us worry about Jax." John crossed his hands, his expression cold. "This is a psychological battle. Sandra is more cunning than Jennifer. It's been almost three days. I predict she'll make a move in the next day or two."
Todd felt relieved hearing this. "Mr. Lewis, it seems you know how to handle this?"
John shook his head. "She wants me, and I want my son. We're at a stalemate. The worst-case scenario is giving her my life."
Sandra wanted John, and John wanted his son.
It was indeed a deadlock.
At the study door, Aurora heard their entire conversation. She quietly left and went to Lori's room.
Lori was on the phone with Allan, dealing with Ava's situation.
Seeing Aurora, she said into the phone, "Mr. Jennings, I'll leave Ava's matter to you. If you can get her out, I'll owe you one."
After hanging up, Lori called out, "Aurora, why aren't you asleep yet?"
"I need to talk to you." Aurora asked, "How's Ava's situation?"
"Mr. Jennings said it's manageable. He'll handle it." Lori answered, "Aurora, what do you need to talk about?"
"It's about Jax. I think Sandra's behind this. I need you to..."
Night fell.
The Lewis Villa remained shrouded in gloom.
Another day passed, the fourth day since Jax went missing.
It was already evening, six o'clock.
John suddenly received a message: [I have the child. If you want him, come to Azure Dragon Peak at nine tonight. Don't be late, and come alone.]
Seeing the message, John's nerves tightened. Just as he expected, the other party had finally contacted him.
John grabbed his car keys and immediately drove out.
No matter what, he had to bring the child back.
Meanwhile, Helen received a call.
"I have the child. If you want your grandson back, come to Virtual Bridge now. Come alone, or I'll kill him." The voice on the phone was altered, unrecognizable.
Helen, her eyes swollen from crying, perked up at the news of Jax.
"Okay, I'm coming right now." Helen replied.
Helen didn't dare tell anyone. She had lost the child and was willing to do anything to get him back.
If something happened to the child, how could she face John and Aurora?
Helen left alone.
Shortly after Helen left, Aurora received a text message.
[I have the child. If you want him back, come to Virtual Bridge. Come alone, or I'll kill your child.]
