Chapter 234 Annoyed
The high-quality replica in front of her really looked a lot like Jack, maybe seven or eight-tenths similar. If he dressed in Jack's usual clothes, even she might mistake him if she didn't look closely.
The guy who looked like Jack was named Timothy King, and Richard brought him in to frame Jack.
Before Jack went to the warehouse, Timothy always handled things there. Timothy made sure to show his face to the warehouse workers, which was why they all later testified against Jack.
It was a pretty detailed plan, but what was Richard's endgame? Why did Richard want to frame Jack? Aurora just couldn't figure it out.
Timothy had been sent to the police station. Now, as long as they caught Richard, they could clear Jack's name. Previously, the key to clearing Jack's name was the phone call Richard had made, which Richard refused to admit, leaving Jack's word.
Still, things were looking up, and Aurora could finally relax a bit.
In another week, John could get the bandages off his eyes, and everything was starting to look better.
As for Jennifer hurting Helen, John hadn't mentioned it, and Aurora didn't ask. She trusted John's judgment.
"Aurora, go home and rest. You don't need to stay with me at the hospital," John said, feeling bad for Aurora. She had been through a lot lately.
"Alright, I'll come back tomorrow." Aurora didn't push herself, knowing she needed rest too.
Summer and Loren went home with Aurora. Holding their hands, she felt on top of the world. "You two can't go off on your own anymore. You almost scared me to death this time."
"Got it," Loren replied. "Mommy, you should trust your son. Summer is so capable. With Summer around, nothing will happen."
Summer complained, "If you weren't so chubby, we could have run away. Starting tomorrow, you're going on a diet." He adopted the bossy tone of an older brother.
"Summer." Loren pouted. He just couldn't control his appetite and felt miserable when he was hungry.
Summer just gave Loren a look, making him fall silent.
Seeing her younger son looking upset but not daring to speak up, Aurora suddenly thought of John. Like father, like son.
She was amused and said, "Loren, Summer is doing this for your own good. Healthy eating leads to healthy growth. Tomorrow, I'll make you a weight-loss meal plan that won't leave you hungry but will help you slim down."
Loren had indeed gained quite a bit of weight recently. Although he looked cute, it ultimately affected his health.
Loren smiled. "Mommy, I love you the most."
Summer suddenly gave a light cough, and Loren immediately caught on. "And Summer is always second in my heart, ahead of John."
Summer was satisfied. "That's more like it."
They chatted and laughed on the way home. Just then, Aurora saw a familiar face.
Daniel was carefully helping a young, beautiful woman walk in from outside. "Watch the steps, take it slow."
"Don't be so cautious. I'm not a child. If I had known having a baby was this troublesome, I wouldn't have done it," the woman said impatiently, a bit annoyed.
"Just hang in there, sweetheart. It's only a few more months, and once the baby is born, it'll all be worth it," Daniel coaxed patiently.
This scene was quite shocking.
Emily was still in prison with a big belly, yet Daniel's new lover was already pregnant? What a scumbag!
Aurora was glad she hadn't married Daniel before.
Daniel also saw Aurora. It had been a while since they last met, and at first glance, Aurora looked even more charming and attractive than before. Daniel felt a pang of regret, just as the saying went, "A man only regrets when he sees his ex doing better."
The woman also saw Aurora. Seeing Aurora's beauty, the woman was quite jealous as she said, "Daniel, isn't that your old flame? Didn't you two break up less than a year ago? And her kids are already this big? Oh, I almost forgot. Your old flame had children out of wedlock. Wasn't she supposed to marry into the Lewis family? Hasn't she gotten in yet? Could it be that the Lewis family was just playing around?"
As the woman said, she covered her mouth and sneered, "It's quite laughable. How could a woman like her marry into the Lewis family? Mr. Lewis isn't blind."
Aurora didn't get angry. She looked at Daniel and said, "Mr. Taylor, your taste is truly questionable. How can you kiss someone with such a filthy mouth at night?"
"Who are you talking about?" The woman was fuming.
Daniel chimed in, "Aurora, this is Amelia Smith, the little princess of Smith Media Group. We're getting married soon."
When he mentioned Smith Media Group, Daniel's face lit up with pride, like he owned the place.
Wait a minute, Smith Media Group? Wasn't that Todd's family? Was this woman Todd's sister? But Aurora hadn't heard that Todd had a sister.
Amelia immediately put on her princess airs and said arrogantly, "We're having our wedding on the 8th of next month. You must come. If it weren't for your breakup, I wouldn't have met such a good man. You must attend."
Aurora smiled. "If you don't mind the awkwardness, I'll definitely come. By the way, I think you two are quite a match."
Neither of them were good people, and they were a perfect fit.
Amelia didn't catch the sarcasm in Aurora's words and became even more smug. "That's right. The fortune teller said we are a match made in heaven. Oh, by the way, make sure to bring Mr. Lewis along."
Amelia said this because she was certain that John wouldn't accompany Aurora. In her view, John didn't care about Aurora at all; otherwise, why hadn't there been any updates for so long?
She had even planned how to embarrass Aurora at the wedding and make her envy her happiness with Daniel.
Aurora knew exactly what Amelia was up to and gave a light smile. "He's not available."
"I think it's not that he's not available, but that Mr. Lewis has grown tired of you. In this circle, it's normal to get tired of the old and like the new," Amelia said in a sympathetic tone, as if she cared much about Aurora. "Oh, how pitiful. You must have faced a lot of exclusion with two kids. It must be hard. Daniel, this is your fault. Why don't you help Ms. White out a bit?"
Seeing Amelia's humiliation toward Aurora, Daniel felt both pleased and a bit heartbroken, very conflicted.
Just as Aurora was about to retort, Loren spoke up, "This lady is really pitiful. You can't even afford a mirror. How dare you come out looking so ugly? Miss, I have some pocket money. Let me give you some to buy a mirror."
As Loren said this, he generously took out a hundred dollars and handed it to Amelia with an expression as if he was saying, "No need to thank me."
Amelia's face turned red with anger.
Summer also took out a hundred dollars. "And buy a toothbrush to brush your teeth properly. Bad breath isn't your fault, but coming out and polluting the air is."
Amelia was so angry she couldn't speak a single word.
With such excellent sons, how could Aurora be weak? She cleared her throat and smiled. "I'm really sorry. Don't take it personally with the kids." Then she scolded, "Summer, Loren, how can you be so rude?"
Seeing Aurora scold the kids, Amelia and Daniel's anger subsided a bit, but Aurora's actions made their faces turn red again.
Aurora took back the two hundred dollars from Summer and Loren while saying, "How can you be so wasteful? Buying a mirror and a toothbrush doesn't need that much. Ten dollars is enough." As she said this, she took out ten dollars and handed it to Amelia. "Buy whatever you want. With the extra money, buy a mask to wear, one for each of you, to avoid polluting the air."
It turned out Aurora was scolding the kids for giving too much money.
Summer and Loren took the lesson and nodded. "Mommy, we are wrong. We won't be so wasteful and extravagant in the future."
"That's right." Aurora showed a kind smile.
Amelia looked at the ten dollars in her hand, then at Aurora, and angrily threw the money away. "Aurora, you're insulting me."
"Oh, you figured it out?" Aurora feigned surprise. "I thought with your IQ, you wouldn't get it. By the way, speaking of getting tired of the old and liking the new, you really picked a husband who does that. Congratulations."
With that, she then looked at Daniel. "By the way, Emily is about to give birth. Congratulations, you're going to be a dad."
"What?" Amelia started to throw a tantrum at Daniel. "Didn't you say Emily's baby was gone? How is she about to give birth? You lied to me."
"Amelia, let me explain."
"I don't want to hear it, you liar." The two started arguing at the hospital entrance. Aurora and her two sons looked at each other with smiles, then they simultaneously blew their bangs while rolling their eyes, and said in unison, "Annoyed."
With that, they walked away gracefully.
