Chapter 294 Lori found out that Todd chartered a plane to stop her.

Todd floored the gas pedal. Luckily, it was a one-way street, and he could only go straight for nearly three miles.

Soon, Todd spotted Sandra's car.

The road had three lanes in total, and the traffic was heavy with too many cars. Todd couldn't catch up and could only follow from behind.

Lori was getting anxious. "Todd, get over there and force her to stop."

Todd focused intently on the cars ahead. "Loren is in her car. If we get too close, Loren could be in danger. Don't worry; we won't lose her."

Lori kept her eyes on the cars ahead, texting Ava while sending over Sandra's license plate number.

Sandra's car was heading towards the pier, and Todd quickly realized Sandra's intention.

Just as Todd was about to call John, John's call came in.

John's tone was tinged with urgency. "Where are you now?"

"On the overpass," Todd said, "Mr. Lewis, Sandra is likely taking Loren to the pier. You should notify people to intercept her there."

John replied, "Got it!"

After John hung up the phone, he immediately notified all Nightfall members near the pier to head there.

Aurora wanted to go, but John stopped her. "Too many people will only cause chaos. You go home and wait for news."

"John, I'm worried about Loren," Aurora said, her anxiety palpable.

"It'll be fine!" John kissed Aurora's forehead. "You go back with Grandpa and the others. Don't make a fuss about Loren for now." He didn't want to worry Lloyd and Helen.

Aurora nodded. "Okay!"

Todd had been following Sandra all the way. At the intersection, he watched as Sandra drove through. As the green light turned red, he was slowing down to stop.

Lori shouted from beside him, "Run the light!"

Todd said calmly, "It's a red light now."

Lori was furious. "Damn it, Loren is in Sandra's car, but you're worried about a red light?"

Todd accelerated and ran the light. "Sorry, I'm used to stopping at red lights. It shows I'm a law-abiding citizen."

"Step on it. If you can't do it, let me drive." Lori was so impatient she wanted to drive herself.

What Todd considered a swift pace seemed like a snail's crawl to Lori.

"If you drive, many innocent people may get hurt," Todd said, "Don't worry too much. Sandra won't really harm Loren. He's Mr. Lewis's son; she wouldn't dare."

"He's Aurora's precious baby. If he gets the slightest scratch, she'll be heartbroken. And now he's been kidnapped, Aurora might be at a loss." Lori was worried about Loren but more furious at Sandra's actions. How dare she commit a crime right under her nose?

Lori was working at the police station now and was determined to catch Sandra.

Todd followed Sandra to the pier, where the crowd was even larger. Suddenly, a dozen people rushed in front of Todd's car, forcing him to brake hard.

It was a tour group, and they were all elderly. The tour guide led the group to the boat, waving a flag and nodding apologetically at Todd.

Since the elderly moved slowly, Todd had to stop the car. In those few seconds, Sandra's car disappeared.

Lori, impatient as ever, jumped out of the car to chase.

"Lori," Todd called, but she didn't stop.

It was rare for him to call her by her name in front of her. Usually, he called her a shrew or Ms. Hernandez.

Todd didn't realize that his way of addressing Lori had changed.

After the tour group passed, Todd started the car again.

The parking lot was filled with cars, and Lori stood on the steps, hands on her hips, exuding an air of cool elegance as she surveyed the surroundings.

After running a bit, Lori's cheeks were flushed, her complexion rosy, lips red, and teeth white. Even without makeup, she was stunning.

In that moment, Todd thought Lori was more dazzling than the sun. He flet like he was captivated by her.

The breeze lifted Lori's hair, giving her a touch of femininity.

"Damn it." Todd muttered. How could he find Lori beautiful?

"What are you daydreaming about? Were you just ogling me?" Lori knocked on the car door.

Todd, lost in thought, hadn't noticed Lori approaching.

Todd snapped back to reality, denying, "You're overthinking. With your ordinary look, the Smith Group's film division has plenty of women like you."

Lori said in a huff, "Todd, are you blind? You must be blind, or your taste is off."

"You truly lack self-awareness." Todd didn't want to argue and asked, "Where is she?"

"She got away!" Lori had chased but saw neither Sandra nor her car.

After Todd parked the car and got out, he said, "Let's go. Mr. Lewis and the others have already arrived. The docks are secured; no car or boat will leave until Sandra is found."

Ava had also arrived, and they met up at the pier.

John had arrived early, and Nightfall members had locked down the pier, but there was no sign of Sandra.

Todd said, "Mr. Lewis, I think someone is helping her."

The tour group's sudden appearance was too suspicious.

"Find her," John ordered, his expression cold and unapproachable.

Summer arrived with Sam and Tyler, because Loren's disappearance was partly his responsibility.

Summer asked, "Dad, any news on Loren?"

John shook his head and reached out. "Give me the laptop."

He was going to use surveillance to find her, doubling their efforts.

Tyler handed over the laptop.

Summer, knowing Todd had lost Sandra, was a bit reproachful. "Todd, if you had shown the same determination as when you stopped Lori from going to Moscow, how could you have lost them..."

Todd's heart skipped a beat. He quickly covered Summer's mouth, laughing nervously. "I don't know what you're talking about. Summer, you must be mistaken."

Todd signaled to Summer to keep quiet. He had already paid him off; it wouldn't be fair to spill the beans now.

But it was too late. Lori had already heard.

Lori exclaimed, "Todd, so it was you who messed things up last time." Lori was furious. "I always wondered why all flights to Moscow were booked. So, you're the rich guy who booked all the planes."

Ava was also surprised by this revelation and asked, "Todd, what were you up to?"

Todd chartered every flight to prevent Lori from going to Moscow; such an act was truly perplexing.

The Todd Ava knew would have gladly bought Lori a ticket to send her as far away as possible.

Lori said in a huff, "Yeah, Todd, why did you do that? If you don't convince me, we're not done here."

Todd quickly hid behind John for protection, saying, "Shrew, you've been giving me trouble for years. Can't I give you some back?"

That explanation seemed plausible. That was what Todd had told Summer before.

Summer hadn't believed it then, but he didn't bother to expose Todd, because finding Loren was the most imminent thing.

John glanced at Todd hiding behind him. "Go find her."

"Yes, Mr. Lewis." Todd was eager to comply.

As everyone split up to search, Sandra appeared in a long dress, her hair flowing, waving at them from a distance. "John, Todd, you're here?"

Sandra's appearance immediately lifted everyone's spirits.
