Chapter 434 Split Personality

Jack was giving Aurora a heads-up.

He wasn't going to let John off the hook.

"Alright, I get it," Aurora took a deep breath and said, "You rest up in the room for a bit. The truth will come out eventually, and when it does, I'll make sure you get justice."

With that, Aurora turned to leave.

"Aurora," Jack called out, "I'm not Black Hawk, I'm your brother, Jack."

Aurora turned back, looking into Jack's clear eyes, and for a moment, she saw the clean, sunny boy he once was.

For a second, she couldn't tell if Jack was really Black Hawk.

"Don't overthink it, I'll be back soon."

Aurora closed the door behind her and went downstairs, where John and the others were waiting in the living room.

Seeing Aurora come down, John called out nervously, "Aurora."

Wendy asked, "How's Jack?"

"He's resting in the room; his emotions have calmed down. Mom, don't disturb him. I'll be back soon."

With that, Aurora pulled John outside, and they got into the car.

"What's up?" John asked.

"Yes!" Aurora frowned, conflicted. "Jack has a deep hatred for you. You should stay out of sight for now. I'll stay and see what Jack is really up to. I suspect this isn't as simple as it seems. Why would Jack come back and tell these lies with so many holes in his story? He just admitted to me that he stole the map."

Aurora was sure John didn't really want to hurt Jack, but Jack's behavior was strange, making Aurora puzzled.

John gripped the steering wheel with one hand, tapping it with his index finger as he thought. "Today's events are indeed odd. Lori's incident and Jack's sudden return—what's the connection?"

Aurora felt overwhelmed, too. She leaned back in her seat, looking at John. "Honey, I thought we could have some peaceful days, but now more troubles are piling up."

John smiled slightly, ruffling Aurora's hair. "Stay calm and adapt. Or should we have another fight?"

"You mean?" Aurora quickly understood. "That might not work. Jack is very sharp. I just feel like he's sometimes grim and unfamiliar, and other times he's the Jack I know. It's confusing."

Aurora knocked on her head, pouting and sighing, feeling a bit frantic. "I feel like I'm dealing with two Jacks—one with a dark side and one standing in the light. It's driving me crazy."

Aurora's words sparked an idea in John. "Aurora, what did you just say?"

Aurora was puzzled. "What did I say?"

"Two Jacks, Aurora. Maybe it's not impossible."

They exchanged a look, and Aurora instantly grasped John's meaning, exclaiming, "You mean Jack has a split personality?"

"That's the best explanation for now, but we can't be sure until Gary examines him."

"The most important thing now is to find Lori," Aurora said. "By the way, honey, have someone keep an eye on Karolyn. It's best if Sam does it discreetly."

"Why keep an eye on Karolyn?"

"I just feel... uneasy. Honey, I have this feeling of being trapped in a net that's slowly tightening. It's frustrating to be in the open while the enemy is hidden. Oren must have a reason for targeting Karolyn."

John was pleased. "My Aurora is becoming more aware of potential dangers. Don't worry, I already had Sam keep an eye on her. Karolyn is in the hospital, and there's nothing unusual for now."

"That's my husband," Aurora perked up. "Let's split up. I'll stay at the White Villa, and you handle Lori's situation."
