Chapter 236 This Time Aurora and John Are Doomed

Dean was in a funk all night and couldn't even touch his dinner. As soon as he got home, he went straight to his room and didn't come out.

During dinner, Aurora, looking puzzled, asked Summer and Loren, "What's up with your grandpa?"

Loren replied, "Mommy, don't worry about Grandpa. He's already full."

Full of anger, that is.

Aurora then turned to Summer.

Summer added, "Mommy, Grandpa really is full. Oh, and he said he's not marrying Bella anymore. They broke up."

"What happened?" Aurora was super curious. "I just took a nap. Did I miss some drama?"

Loren grinned and said, "Bella had an affair with the driver, Milton."

Aurora immediately got it and felt bad for Dean. "Your grandpa's got it rough."

He's been betrayed his whole life.

After dinner, Aurora asked Delta to whip up a late-night snack, which she personally took to Dean.

It took a bit of knocking before Dean finally opened the door.

Aurora tried to comfort him. "Dad, I know it's hard. Don't let it get to you. I brought you some ravioli. Eat up."

Dean was still pretty upset. He flopped down on the sofa with a bottle of wine next to him and sighed, "Aurora, to be honest, I want a child of my own."

Aurora paused, taken aback not by his desire for a child, but by his sudden openness.

Since Emily and she weren't his biological daughters, she understood where he was coming from.

"As long as you find someone reliable who truly cares for you, you have my support," Aurora said. "But you know, those young and pretty ones, how many of them are sincere?"

Dean was after looks, while those women were after money.

None of them were truly genuine.

Dean was quiet for a few seconds before asking, "Aurora, what do you think of Delta?"

Aurora's eyes widened instantly. "Dad, with your flirtatious nature, you better not mess with Delta."

Delta was from out of town and had only been working for the White family for a few months. She was diligent and quiet, always just doing her job diligently. She was almost forty, average-looking, and divorced.

Aurora respected Delta and was concerned that Dean's flirtatious nature would hurt her.

"Forget it, I'll just eat the ravioli." Dean picked up the ravioli and started eating.

Dean was experienced in love; this little setback would be behind him in a few days.

Richard was still on the run, and Jack wouldn't be out for a while.

Soon, it was the day for John to get his bandages removed.

Lloyd had arrived at the hospital early, and Aurora was pretty nervous.

Summer and Loren were there too.

Aurora asked anxiously, "Mr. Collins, once the bandages are off, will he be able to see?"

Gary replied, "Theoretically, yes."

Which meant there could still be surprises.

"Are you nervous?" Aurora held John's hand, feeling quite tense herself.

John smiled slightly. "His surgeries have never failed."

Gary said, "Don't flatter me. I'm going to remove your bandages now."

Though John tried to appear calm, his palms were a bit sweaty. Aurora felt it and held his hand tighter.

Gary carefully removed the bandages, layer by layer. As he reached the final layer, everyone grew more tense.

When the final bandage was off, Gary let out a sigh of relief and said, "Try opening your eyes."

Having not seen light for a long time, John tried to open his eyes slowly, but even the slightest opening made the brightness almost unbearable.

John closed his eyes again, then tried to open them slowly. As he did, the people in front of him came into view.

"Can you see?" Aurora asked nervously.

John smiled. "You had greens for breakfast, and there's still some stuck in your teeth."

Hearing this, Aurora blushed, and after giving John a playful glare, she quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe the greens from her teeth.

"You can see now," Lloyd said excitedly.

John then turned to Summer and Loren. This was the first time he saw his children, knowing they were his biological sons. They did look just like him.

"Summer, Loren, come here," John beckoned.

Summer and Loren walked over. "John."

"Mr. Lewis."

John wished they would call him something different, but he held back. No need to rush things. Acknowledging his sons was a big deal and couldn't be done hastily.

John patted on their shoulders. "You little ones."

It was lucky these two were smart; otherwise, they might not have been standing in front of him and Aurora as healthy as they were.

From birth, they had no parents around and had to grow on their own. The fact that they turned out so well was pretty remarkable.

Blood ties are a mysterious thing. Even before knowing the kids were his biological sons, John had been willing to risk his life to save them.

He still felt he did the right thing and had no regrets.

Aurora looked at the three of them, with her hand gently resting on her belly. This is what happiness felt like—a family being together.

The first thing John did after regaining his sight was to deal with Jennifer.

Previously, he only had suspicions, but Sam later found evidence of Jennifer harming Helen. Now, John has also discovered her location.

Skyview Haven Hotel.

Jennifer had been feeling uneasy all day. After Richard was caught, she had been staying at the Skyview Haven Hotel, looking for an opportunity to kill Aurora.

But wherever Aurora went, she was always protected, and Jennifer never had a chance.

Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Sandra calling. "Jennifer, Dad has been in prison for half a month. You can't just ignore this. The management of  the Shadow of Darkness is in chaos."

"I'm practically a dying person; what can I manage?" Jennifer said. "But don't worry, Dad will be fine. If something were really going to happen, it would have by now. Aurora is still Dad's daughter, she won't let him be completely destroyed by John."

"Are you still in Silvercrest City?" Sandra hadn't gone out since her face was injured as she didn't dare to show herself.

"He's about to be discharged."

As soon as she finished speaking, the doorbell rang.

Jennifer's heart skipped a beat and she had a feeling she knew who was outside.

She took a deep breath and continued, "Sandra, remember what I said. Let go of John. You're still young. Don't get stuck on him. Whether it's you, me, or Aurora, none of us can have a future with him."

She couldn't turn back now, but Sandra could. Her infatuation with John was just a phase, an admiration.

Sandra always liked to compete with Jennifer, which led her to believe she liked John. But she didn't realize that it wasn't love.

Sandra didn't get her. "Jennifer, what do you mean? What do you mean there's no future..."

Before Sandra could finish her words, Jennifer directly hung up the phone.

The doorbell was still ringing. She tidied her hair before opening the door.

It was John and Sam.

"John." Jennifer smiled gently, just like when they first met.

She had already made up her mind, so she wasn't flustered facing John.

John walked in and threw a stack of surveillance photos on the table. "Turn yourself in, or I'll do it for you. Your choice."

In the photos, Jennifer was seen leaving the hospital in a panic, with blood on her hands.

Obtained by John after he personally restored the surveillance system following his recovery of sight, they were more incriminating than what Sam had found earlier.

After taking a glance at them, Jennifer gave a bitter smile. "I knew you'd come for me. I've been waiting here. Hurting Helen was never my intention; she just knew too much. I did it for your sake."

"Jennifer." John suddenly grabbed her throat, his voice icy. "Do you believe I will kill you right now?"

Jennifer had repeatedly tested his limits.

"John, don't you want to know how your dad died?" Jennifer said urgently. "It wasn't an accident. My dad had chosen the Lewis Group and wanted to partner with your dad, but your dad refused. So my dad got angry and caused the accident. The person who killed your dad was my dad, Alexander— Aurora's biological father."
