Chapter 187 Mr. Lewis has quite a few bad romances

"Mr. Harris."

Aurora stared at Chris in shock. A knife was stuck in his back, and blood was soaking his shirt.

The woman yanked the knife out, and blood splattered everywhere. Chris crumpled in front of Aurora, and she tried to catch him but missed.

"Run!" Chris yelled, grabbing the woman's foot.

If Chris hadn't taken the knife for her, Aurora would have bolted. But now, she couldn't just leave him.

Aurora wasn't the type to abandon someone who helped her.

Chris clung to the woman's foot, and in a panic, she raised the knife to stab him again.

Aurora intercepted her hand, knocked the knife away, and kicked the woman back.

Aurora quickly lifted Chris with both hands and shouted, "Help! Murder! Help!"

People started rushing over. The woman realized she was outnumbered and bolted in the opposite direction.

"Ms. White." It was John’s secret guards, Gideon and Lachlan Everett, who had arrived.

They only showed up if Aurora was in danger.

Since Aurora had been eating inside, the brothers didn't expect any trouble and were waiting at the door.

When they heard the commotion, they rushed over.

"Fox from The Shadow of Darkness ran that way," Aurora pointed. "Go to catch her."

"Yes, Ms. White."

The brothers immediately took off after her. Aurora turned back to find Chris had already fainted.

The staff at Villa Kitchen were alarmed and came over. Aurora had them help carry Chris to the car and rushed to the hospital.

From the assassination attempt by Fox to getting Chris to the hospital, Aurora stayed calm. She had panicked but quickly pulled herself together.

She knew that panicking would only make things worse.

On the way, Aurora got a call from John.

"Aurora, are you hurt? Where are you now?" John's voice was filled with worry.

"I'm fine. Chris is the one who got hurt. I'm almost at the hospital."

Aurora didn't say much more. When she arrived at the hospital, John was waiting at the entrance, and they rushed Chris to the operating room.

As the operating room door closed, Aurora was about to speak when Jennifer arrived.

"John, did something happen?" Jennifer looked shocked at the blood on Aurora. "Ms. White, are you hurt? What happened? You just left for a bit; how did this happen?"

The blood was all Chris's; Aurora was fine.

She stared at Jennifer, unsure if she was acting or if she was overthinking it.

Since Jennifer was here, the one who tried to kill her at Villa Kitchen wasn't her.

John said, "Jennifer, go to take care of my mom. I'll stay here with Aurora."

"Okay." Jennifer was very understanding. "Don't worry about Auntie Helent, and I'll take good care of her. You stay with Ms. White."

After Jennifer left, Aurora looked at John. "The one who tried to kill me was a woman wearing a Fox mask, from The Shadow of Darkness. I was wrong before."

"Jennifer has been at the hospital the whole time." John pulled Aurora into his arms and said, "Aurora, it's good to hear you're okay. Leave the rest to me."

A flash of anger crossed John's eyes. He wouldn't let The Shadow of Darkness get away with trying to harm Aurora.

While the surgery was ongoing, John got news that Lachlan and Gideon had caught the woman.

John didn't go to interrogate her immediately but called Todd to handle it first. He stayed at the hospital with Aurora, waiting for The Harris family to arrive.

When Percy and Mrs. Harris arrived, the surgery had just ended.

The doctor said, "The injury isn't life-threatening. If the knife had been just a little bit off, it would have hit the spine, and he would have been paralyzed."

Hearing this, Aurora felt a wave of relief. If something had happened to Chris, she would never forgive herself.

After Chris was moved to a ward, Percy angrily demanded, "What happened? How did my son get hurt?"

John put his arm around Aurora and said, "This afternoon, my fiancée ran into some trouble. Chris stepped up and got hurt. I, John, will definitely repay this kindness. Mr. Harris, if you ever need anything from me, just ask, and I won't refuse."

Percy was almost stunned by such a big promise.

John's words were carefully chosen. He was repaying the favor on behalf of Aurora because he didn't want her to owe any man, especially for something as serious as saving her life.

Aurora got what John was doing. Normally, she would have teased him for being so petty and jealous, but today, she kept quiet.

With John making such a statement, Percy felt it was inappropriate to press further.

After all, businessmen cared most about interests.

Chris's injury was a fact, but since it wasn't life-threatening, the most important thing now was to get the most compensation he could and make the injury worthwhile.

Percy wasn't short of money. If it were someone else, Percy might have sought revenge, but since it was Aurora and John had made a promise, he wouldn't pursue it further.

Percy said, "Alright, with Mr. Lewis's word, I am reassured."

Mrs. Harris wanted to say something, but Percy gave her a look, making her stay silent.

John said, "Since Chris is out of danger, I'll take my fiancée home now."

As they left the ward, Aurora said, "John, this time, I owe a big debt."

If that knife had hit her, she might have died with her two babies in her womb.

"A husband and wife are one. The debt you owe is my debt, and I'll repay it." John touched Aurora's face and gently said, "I'll have Sam take you back to the old house."

"No, I'd rather go back to The Robinson family."

John still had matters to handle, so Aurora didn't ask him to take her.

But she didn't want to go to either the Lewis Mansion or the Meadow Brook villa.

"Alright." John agreed to everything Aurora wanted. "Go back and rest well; don't think about anything."

"Okay." Aurora replied absentmindedly.

On the way back, she gave Lori a call. "Do you still have contact with The Shadow of Darkness organization?"

"Yes, this morning they were still urging me to act. I've been too busy to deal with them, so I just laid it out. Aurora, what's up?"

So that's where the problem was.

Aurora said, "The Shadow of Darkness organization's Fox came after me again. I almost got killed."

Lori had taken a hundred million from them but didn't act, so they had to do it themselves. It made sense.

"Almost means you're okay." Lori laughed over the phone. "Aurora, give me a few days to handle things here, and I'll come avenge you."

Since Lori said so, then the issues with Wolfpack shouldn't be too serious.

Meadow Brook villa.

In the basement, the woman who tried to assassinate Aurora was tied to a chair.

When the mask was removed, Todd was a bit disappointed and clicked his tongue, "Boss, they said that Fox from The Shadow of Darkness organization was the most beautiful assassin. But this one isn't pretty at all. The rumors must be wrong. I get it now; she wears a mask all the time to hide her ugliness. Rumors can't be trusted."

People in the underworld hadn't seen Fox's true face. Even if they caught her, they couldn't be sure she was really the Fox from The Shadow of Darkness organization.

John didn't care about her looks. He walked up to the woman and coldly questioned, "Why did you target Aurora?"

The woman sneered, "Falling into your hands, I know I won't leave here alive. But I don't regret trying to kill Aurora. She can't be your woman, she is weak, and she doesn't deserve to be with you."

John frowned.

Todd asked maliciously, "What kind of woman John chooses has nothing to do with you. The Shadow of Darkness organization and Nightfall are mortal enemies. Could it be that you actually have a thing for the Boss?"

Just as Todd finished speaking, the woman shyly lowered her head. "No man has ever caught my eye, but John, you're the first."

Todd couldn't help but laugh, "John, she really has a crush on you."
