Chapter 255 John Uncovered the Truth

The medicine in the bottle was indeed the antidote.

Todd specifically got it from Gary after the incident last time.

When Lori saw the medicine bottle, she finally knew that Todd had secretly taken the antidote. He had been pretending all along, yet she actually had felt guilty and sympathetic for him.

With his cover blown, Todd took off running. "You agreed just now that our grudges would be settled."

"Not a chance." Lori snapped. "Stop right there."

Stop?

That was impossible.

Todd ran faster than anything.

In the blink of an eye, he was out of the bar. His car was parked in the open-air parking lot. Todd ran over to get in, but saw a few stylishly dressed young guys loitering suspiciously by his car.

These young guys were the those thugs who had been eating at the food stall just now.

The leader, a blond guy, looked at Todd and asked, "This car, yours?"

"Yes, it's mine." Todd straightened his clothes gracefully and smiled, "Is there a problem?"

"Then that's it. " The blond guy nodded and signaled. "Guys, get him."

"Damn it, Todd, let's see where you run now." At this moment, Lori had caught up and upon seeing a group of thugs ready to fight Todd, she was confused. "What's going on?"

The blond guy whistled sinisterly. "There's a chick too."

Before Lori could figure out what was happening, Todd suddenly ran towards her, then hid behind her and tugged at her clothes. "Protect me."

Lori paused for a moment, while those thugs also paused for a moment.

Was it nowadays common for women to protect men? Lori tried to pull her clothes away. "Aren't you ashamed?"

"I can't fight, but you can. You up. You're stronger." Todd praised her enthusiastically, "You're the toughest person I've ever seen. Dealing with these thugs is a small case."

Why did that sound familiar?

Lori remembered. Aurora had said the same thing a few hours ago.

At this moment, the blond guy shouted, "Guys, get the man first."

After all, a normal man would naturally think men are stronger than women. They rushed to Todd, who kept hiding behind Lori, making it impossible for them to catch him. Lori had no choice but to fight back while cursing, "Damn it, Todd, are you even a man?"

Using her, a woman, as a shield.

"Go on, I believe in you." Todd, without a hint of guilt, pushed Lori forward and even smiled encouragingly while giving her a thumbs-up.

At first, those thugs didn't take Lori seriously. But as soon as they fought, they realized what a crushing defeat felt like.

They completely had no ability to fight back. Lori took them down one by one, as fierce as a lioness.

All the thugs were knocked to the ground, unable to get up.

The blond guy couldn't help but curse, "Fuck, are you even a woman?"

Lori used her strength to teach them that one should never underestimate women.

"Want more?" Lori raised her fist, and the thugs scrambled to their feet and ran.

In the blink of an eye, they were gone.

That was too easy." Lori dusted herself off and turned around. "Damn it, Todd, I beat them all down."

The parking lot was empty and Todd was already nowhere to be seen, leaving even his car behind.

Lori roared in anger, "Todd, I won't let you get away with this."

Meanwhile, Todd had returned to the food stall.

The door was already closed.

John had also arrived at the food stall. Seeing the closed door, he coldly ordered, "Break it down."

Sam and Tyler drove the car straight into the door.

Todd had recognized those thugs upon seeing them. He and Tyler had run into them on the way to the diner.

Plus, there was something wrong with that pot of water, making the owner the prime suspect.

They had found this place before through clues. Now, the owner's actions even increased his suspicion with no doubt.

The door was broken down. There were rooms upstairs.

Joshua, who was packing up to flee, heard the commotion downstairs and quickly looked out the window, then he saw a group of people standing below. As he had seen Todd and Tyler just now, he recognized them.

Joshua immediately knew they were after him. He quickly grabbed his money, even leaving his clothes behind, and planned to jump out the back window with his bag.

Hearing the sound of doors being broken and footsteps, Joshua was terrified.

He opened the second-floor window, then slid down the drainpipe, and just as he thought he had escaped, he turned around and saw several people standing behind him.

Three minutes later.

Joshua was dragged back to his food stall and forced into a chair.

John looked at him. "Joshua? You once worked as a financial advisor for Alexander."

Joshua played dumb. "Who are you? I don't understand a word you're saying. You're here because of those two women just now, right? I admit, I was out of my mind and put something in the water, but I didn't expect that guy to drink it."

As Joshua said, he took a glance at Todd.

Not admitting it?

Todd smiled, "Mr. Lewis, it seems we need to use some methods to make him talk."

John took a small computer from Sam, his slender fingers typing quickly on the keyboard. "It's the information age. As long as there's a trace on the internet, it's not hard to find."

As soon as John finished his words, he had already pulled up all of Joshua's personal information.

"Joshua, graduated from a certain finance university, married at twenty-eight, had a son the following year. " Seeing the information on the screen, John narrowed his eyes. "You worked at Lewis Group?"

Hearing this, Todd glanced at the computer, "He worked at Lewis Group for five years, then joined a financial company and became your dad's financial advisor."

They hadn't expected that Joshua not only worked for Alexander but also for Matthew.

With thousands of employees at Lewis Group, John couldn't possibly know everyone.

John's expression turned colder. "Why did you incite Alexander to kill my dad? What grudge did you have with my dad?"

At this point, Joshua knew he couldn't escape. He had been hiding for years, thinking he was safe, but Alexander's suicide and John's quest for justice had caught up with him.

"You found out that I once worked at Lewis Group and had a wife and son. How could you not know they both died?" Talking about the past, Joshua's emotions became agitated. "Matthew seduced my wife. She left me and our son to be with him. My son chased after her and was hit by a car, dying on the spot. My wife couldn't take the blow and committed suicide. I lost my wife and child in one night, all because of Matthew. He deserved to die."
