Chapter 259 Mr. Lewis is Very Skillful at Naming His Daughter
Hank really knew Lori inside out. If she ever found out about her past, taking out Richard would be the least of the consequences; it would mess her up for life.
Aurora held the old, yellowed photo and gave a helpless smile. "Uncle Bobcat, you sure know how to drop a bombshell. After keeping this secret for so long, why spill the beans now?"
This was a tough spot. Telling Lori was out of the question, but keeping it from her would eat Aurora up inside.
It really put Aurora in a bind.
Hank just chuckled, "I'm getting old. Can't take secrets to the grave. Anyway, I've told you. Whether you tell Lori or not, that's your call."
Aurora gave a bitter smile and asked, "Uncle Bobcat, what are you planning to do now?"
He must have a plan, coming all this way to drop such a big secret.
Hank sighed deeply. "The Wolfpack isn't what it used to be. Richard's in prison, Alexander's dead, your mom's buried, and all my old buddies are gone. So, I'm thinking of traveling around."
The fewer people who knew about Alexander faking his death, the better.
Aurora nodded. "Uncle Bobcat, take care. Come back and visit when you can."
"I will." Hank's eyes, clouded with age, were full of stories and weariness. "Aurora, where's your mom's grave?"
Since he was already in Silvercrest City, Hank, as Wendy's admirer, had to visit.
Aurora's heart skipped a beat, and after giving Hank the address, she quickly called Alexander.
Alexander, after getting Aurora's call, grumbled, "Aurora, how could you let Bobcat visit your mom's grave? Isn't that betraying me?"
Hearing his complaint, Aurora felt pretty helpless. "Alexander, why are you so petty? If my mom were still alive, you'd probably lock her up at home, not letting her go anywhere or see anyone."
Alexander's pettiness and possessiveness were off the charts, as he even replaced her mom's tombstone, which Dean had put up.
This behavior perfectly showed Alexander's controlling and possessive nature.
Alexander muttered over the phone, "With your mom's temper, she'd probably beat me to death."
Aurora, with her sharp ears, heard it and couldn't help but laugh, "You better hide for now. I'm hanging up."
"Wait, Aurora, when are you going to change your last name back?"
"I'm not planning to. Don't think about it anymore. That's it, goodbye."
With that, Aurora hung up the phone instantly.
Dean had raised her, after all. She should be grateful at least.
So changing her last name was out of the question.
After the call, Aurora went inside to find Lori and Ava playing chess out of boredom.
"Aurora, what did Uncle Bobcat say?" Lori asked, still focused on the chessboard.
"Nothing much. He came to say goodbye and asked where my mom's grave is." Aurora put the photo away and said, "I have to go out for a bit. You guys okay?"
Lori waved her hand and interrupted Aurora, "Go ahead. Ava and I will just chill at home."
Seeing Lori's reactions, Aurora was puzzled, as this wasn't like Lori at all.
In the past, she would have insisted on tagging along.
Aurora took a closer look at Lori and noticed her eyes were a bit red.
This was getting even weirder.
Just then, Ava chimed in, "She's been plotting how to get back at Todd these past few days. The 8th is coming up, and she wants to rest and recharge."
The Smith family had a big celebration on the 8th of this month.
"Alright, I'll leave you guys to it. Make yourselves at home."
After giving some instructions, Aurora left.
As soon as Aurora left, Lori pushed the chessboard away. "I'm going to sleep."
"Lori, you okay?" Ava hesitated.
"I'm fine." Lori turned her back to Ava, took a deep breath, and smiled, "I'll be fine after a nap. It's my own fault for being curious."
Aurora first contacted John and asked him to set up a meeting with Richard.
What Hank had told her was a breakthrough in Jack's case.
If Richard was willing to throw his own son, Jack, under the bus, she had nothing more to say but to accept it.
Aurora met John at the detention center entrance.
As soon as John got out of the car, he rushed over to Aurora. "Aurora, why do you suddenly want to see Richard? Didn't we agree I'd handle this?"
Aurora's expression was serious. "Hank just came to see me and told me a secret. I need to see Richard. It might help get Jack out sooner."
"What secret?"
"Jack is Richard's biological son."
John was pretty shocked and said, "That's too crazy."
Aurora snorted, "Without Richard, my mom wouldn't have brought me to Silvercrest City. I would have been Alexander's precious daughter, and you wouldn't have been in the picture."
"Aurora, people who are meant to meet will meet, no matter where they are. Meeting you as the daughter of the White family is just one way we could have met."
"Wow, a few hours apart and you've turned into a philosopher?"
"By the way, I've already picked out names for our daughters."
"What names?"
"Chloe and Zoe. Simple and easy to remember."
Aurora stopped and gave John a sidelong glance. "Honey, are you sure they're really daughters?"
She remembered the bet with Lori. If they had two more sons, John would have to perform a striptease.
"One hundred percent. I dreamed about it. They're daughters." John was confident.
"Honey, I made a bet with Lori. If they're not daughters, you'll have to do a striptease."
Hearing her words, John was at a loss for a moment, feeling quite helpless. "But if they're daughters," Aurora gave a mischievous smile, "Lori will confess to Todd."
Hearing this, John got a bit excited too.
When Aurora saw Richard in the detention center, she, being straightforward and decisive, said, "Remember Jessica? Richard, if you don't want your bloodline to end, don't drag Jack down. He and Lori are both your children with Jessica."
Richard hadn't heard the name Jessica in years, so after hearing Aurora's words, he was so shocked that he didn't know what to say for a while. He suddenly stood up from his chair in agitation. "That's impossible, Aurora. I know you're as cunning as your mother. You're trying to trick me to get Jack off the hook. Do you honestly think I don't know? Jack is your mom's illegitimate child."
Aurora suddenly understood why Richard wanted to set Jack up.
