Chapter 348: Why Buy Baby Formula Without a Child
As long as there are clues about Jax, John won't let it go.
"Bring the person in." John voiced.
A few minutes later, Angela came in, wearing a sky-blue long dress, her long hair draped over her shoulders, exuding an elegant and dignified aura.
Her appearance wasn't top-notch, but she had a delicate charm.
Angela entered with a smile, but when she saw the scene in the hall, her smile froze, and her face turned pale.
The floor was covered in blood, and four fierce-looking Tibetan Mastiffs stood guard. Angela's legs went weak, and she didn't dare to move forward.
Noticing Angela's fear, John patted the head of one of the Mastiffs, and with a look, the four Mastiffs lined up and walked out like obedient little lambs.
As they passed by Angela, the four Mastiffs glanced at her in unison, causing Angela to step back in fear.
What bad intentions could the Mastiffs have?
They were just there to scare Angela.
After the Mastiffs left, John sat down on the sofa and lit a cigarette. "Angela, speak up. Any clues you provide, I promise you a million dollars."
"Mr. Lewis, I'm not here for the money." Angela took a few deep breaths to steady herself, then spoke softly, her tone understanding, "I can understand how Mr. Lewis feels right now. A child is a parent's treasure, and this must be incredibly hard on you. I was terrified by what was in that box last night. But while finding your child is crucial, Mr. Lewis, you must also take care of yourself. Your eyes are bloodshot."
As Angela spoke, she slowly moved closer to John.
Her intentions were obvious.
Generally, when men face difficulties and are agitated, they need a gentle woman to comfort them. This is also when men are most vulnerable.
However, is John an ordinary man?
John saw through Angela's intentions and sneered, "Not after money, but after a person?"
John's bluntness made Angela blush.
"Mr. Lewis, I've always admired you." Angela spoke shyly, lowering her head, her hands tightly clasped, very nervous. She took a deep breath, mustered up her courage, and was about to speak when John suddenly grabbed her chin.
"Does Wade know your thoughts?" John smirked coldly. "My wife is very jealous. If she knew someone was coveting her husband, she'd be furious. Do you know what happens when my wife gets angry?"
"Mr. Lewis!" Angela's hands tightened even more nervousness. With John so close, her heart raced as if it would jump out of her chest. Her cheeks flushed, and she was ecstatic, stammering, "Mr. Lewis, don't worry, I won't let Mrs. Lewis know about my existence. I'll do whatever you says."
Angela thought John was interested in her but was just concerned about Aurora. So, she sensibly expressed her willingness to be a mistress.
How considerate and understanding.
John smiled, then suddenly tightened his grip, his tone indifferent to the extreme. "Anyone who makes my wife angry must either spend a few years in jail or end up with grass three feet high on their grave. Which do you choose? Jail time or a grave?"
Nicole is still in jail, Emily spent a few months there, Jennifer's grave indeed has grass growing on it, and Sandra is currently on the run.
Hearing this, Angela turned pale with fear, stammering, "Mr. Lewis, I..."
With a forceful push, John sent Angela tumbling off the sofa.
John looked down at Angela. "Tell me everything you know, every single word. If you dare hide anything, see the blood on the floor? I don't mind adding yours to it."
"Mr. Lewis, I'll talk." Angela stammered, her legs trembling. She had underestimated John. "When the child was taken, I did see it. It was a man wearing a mask. He threatened me with his eyes. I was scared, so I didn't dare speak up. After I went home, I felt guilty and terrified of being involved. I was afraid that man would come after me, so I didn't dare tell the police the truth. I was very conflicted and couldn't get over it, so I mustered up the courage to come to you, Mr. Lewis."
"A man wearing a mask? Describe his physical characteristics clearly. What mode of transportation did he use to leave?" John demanded, his heart racing.
"The man was masked, so I couldn't see his face clearly," Angela replied, her voice shaky. " But he was about 5-foot-11, thin, probably around thirty, wearing black clothes and a hat. He blended into the crowd with the child. I think I saw him get into a taxi, but I'm not sure."
Angela's clues were vague, but it was better than nothing.
When seeing a stranger, most people could only remember so much.
John immediately had people search the surveillance footage around the school based on these clues.
A person wearing a hat and mask should stand out in a crowd.
John also sent people to inquire and investigate around the school.
But after a day, no one had seen such a person, and there was no sign of him in the surveillance footage either.
John suspected Angela was lying.
Jax had been missing for two days and nights. Helen's eyes were swollen from crying, and she refused to eat, constantly apologizing to Aurora.
Aurora was also devastated by the incident, silent and despondent for the past two days.
Lori was released from detention after seventy-two hours and only then learned about the major incident in the Lewis family.
Todd rushed back after quickly resolving matters in the town.
Wendy and Samuel also arrived in Silvercrest City early, but Wendy didn't go directly to see Aurora.
Ashley, upon hearing the news, personally went to the Lewis Villa to offer concerns and support.
Kevin also used his connections to help find the child.
Emily, Daniel, and Chris all knew about the incident, and their reactions varied when they saw the news.
Because of the missing child, neither John nor Aurora had been to the company, and the employees were gossiping privately.
The newly hired Paul was having lunch with his colleagues, and they were also discussing the matter.
A colleague sighed, "The boss has the worst luck. This isn't the first time a child has gone missing. First, it was the second son, and now the fourth. Who's he pissed off? Why do these people keep targeting his children?"
"Yeah, involving children in adult grudges. You can tell the kidnapper isn't married or a parent. No parent would harm a child."
Most of the employees were long-time staff who had stayed with the company even when the Lewis Group went bankrupt. When John re-established AJ Group, he kept these loyal and talented employees.
Everyone was grateful to John as a boss, especially for the benefits and treatment, which were top-notch in the industry.
Paul, while eating, voiced, "People who kidnap children usually have a reason. After all, getting caught means jail time."
"But daring to go against the Lewis family? That's bold," a colleague, chewing thoughtfully, replied. "Paul, how old is your child? You seem about our age, so you must be married. I saw you buying baby formula this morning."
Paul's face tightened for a split second before he answered calmly, "I'm not married."
"If you don't have a child, why buy baby formula?"
"It's for my sister's child. I'm sending it back home to her. I'm done eating. I have some reports to finish. I'll treat everyone to a meal later."
